5 PREPARA TION CONNECTING THE SPEAKERS Cautio n: Do not plug in the pow er cord until you con nect the speakers . Operating t he CD-33 29 without con- nected speake rs could damage it. The wires for the CD-3329 ’s detach- able speak ers a re rolled u p i n the re- cessed area at the back of each speaker.
6 INSTALLING TH E REMOTE CONT ROL’ S BATTERIES The remote con trol requires two AA A batteries (not supplied) for power. We recommend alkaline batteries, such as Ra dioShack Ca t. No. 23-555. Cautio ns: • Use only fr esh batteries of the required size and recom mended type.
7 Cautio ns: • The plug’s blades are polarized (one blade is wid er than the other) and fit only on e way . If the plug will not fit ea sily , turn it over and try again. Do n ot force it. • Be sure the plug’s bl ades are full y inserted to prevent blade expo- sure.
8 USING HEADPHONES For private l istening, pl ug a pai r of o p- tional headphones (not supplied) with a 1 / 8 -inch (3.5-mm) pl ug into the jack. 9 USING THE RADIO 1. S e t th e s w i t ch to RADI O to turn on the radio. 2. Set BAND to AM or FM . 3. Adjust TUNING to the desired sta- tion. 4. Set FM STEREO/MONO to FM STE- REO or MONO . • If you set FM STEREO/MONO to FM STEREO , the F M STEREO indi ca tor ligh ts .
10 USING THE CD PLAYER USING THE R EMOTE CONTROL Several butt ons on b oth the system and the rem ote control operat e the same CD player functions. T o us e t he r e mot e c ont ro l, b e sur e that its front end is po inting with a clear path towards the front of the CD- 3329, then press the desired buttons.
11 PLAYIN G A C D 1. Press PLA Y/P AUSE (or || on th e remote). The current track number and an arrow appear. The CD th en plays all th e tra cks in order . Or , press PLA Y/CD1 or PLA Y CD2 ( CD1 or CD2 on the remote) to play the CD in the ot her com part- me nt.

13 Rep eat You can repea tedly pla y one t rack, a programme d sequ ence (see “ Pro- grammed Play” on Page 14), or an en- ti re C D. To repeat a single t rack, press RE- PEA T (or REPEA T PL A Y on the rem ote) before or during play. R EPE AT wit h an arrow point ing to the current track number appears.
14 PROGRAMM ED PLAY You can pr ogram up t o 20 tra cks from the loaded CDs to play in any se- quence. 1. Hold down PROGRAM until PRO- GRAM , CD 1 an d CD 2 f l as h. 2. Press CD 1 or CD 2 to se lect y o ur desired CD . Then press SKIP | or SKIP | ( | or | on the remote) t o find the t rack y ou want to program.
15 CD AND CD PL AYER TI PS Although a CD is very durabl e, you should handle it wit h care. We recom - mend these precautions. • Keep the CD in its protec tive case or sleeve when you a re not pl ay- ing it. • Keep the CD clean. Y our local RadioShack st ore sells a suitable CD cleaner kit.
16 USING THE CAS SETTE RECORDER You can pl ay your favorite casset te tapes on e ither of the CD-3329 ’s cas- sette decks and make recordings on Tap e 1. Note: Y ou cann ot operate the tape deck usi ng the rem ote cont rol. LOADING A CASSETTE TA P E Follow these steps to l oad a cassette tape i n Tape 1 or T ape 2.
17 3. Press PLA Y on the deck you are using to begin play back. The POWER indicator lights. 4. Adjust VOLUM E to a comfortable listening level . 5. T o boost the bass, set E- BASS OFF/ON to ON . 6. T o enhan ce the stereo effect, set STEREO WIDE OFF/ON to ON .
18 RECORDING You can record f rom the CD player, radio, o r ano ther tape. Notes: • The CD-3329’s Automat ic Level Control (ALC) autom atically a d- justs the recording level . VOLUM E has no ef fect on recording. • T ape qual ity greatly aff e cts the quality of the recording.

20 Pre ventin g Acciden tal Erasu re Cassette tapes have two erase -pro- tection tabs, one for each side. To pro- tect a recordi ng from being accidentally recorded over or erased, use a screwdriver t o remove one or both of the cassette tape’s erase- protection t abs.
