2 IN TRODUCTION Your Optim us AMX 2 Amplified M agnetically Shie lded Stereo Speaker Sy stem is specially designed for use with computer multimedia audio systems. Y ou can also con- nect the A M X 2 to a portable radio , tape or CD player, or a portable TV for amp lified stereo sound.
3 PREP ARATION MOUNTING THE SPEAKERS You can either mou nt the speakers on the sides of your comput er moni tor or p lace them on a desktop. Follow these steps to mount the speakers on a monitor. Notes: • Do not rem ove the adh esive cov erings on t he mount - ing b rackets u ntil St ep 4.
4 CONNECTING THE SYSTEM 1. Plug the wire m arked TO LEF T SPEAKER fro m the R (right) speaker into the TO RIGHT SPEAKER j ack on the L (left) s peak er . 2. Plug the R speaker ’s 1 / 8 -inch c o rd into your com- puter ’s sound board OUT jack or the OUT jack on another audio source.
5 To power the system using batt eries, o pe n t h e R speak- er’s back cover and i nsert the batteries into the compart- ment as indicated by the polari ty markings (+ an d –) inside. Replace the cover an d set the slide sw itch on the R speaker to the battery symbol.
6 OPE R ATION Your AMX 2 s peakers have t wo ope rational modes: am- plified (boost) or unam plified (direct). Use the boost m ode with low-powered s ound bo ards an d o ther audi o s ou rces that have just enough powe r to drive a set of headphones or earphones.
7 USIN G TH E AMPLIF IED ( BOO ST) MOD E 1. T urn your com puter board or audio sou rce’ s volum e all the way down. 2. T urn the R speaker’s volume control to its lowest se t- ting. 3. Set t he R speaker ’s slide s witch to the batt ery or power adapt er symbol, depe nding on your power source.
