5 CONNECTIONS Note: You can con nect ma ny diff erent types of a udio/video c omponent s, such as a stereo VCR, CD pla yer, or PA sys- tem to your karao ke system. These con- nection s m ight require ad ditional supp lies, wh ich are a vailable from your local R adioShac k store.
6 • Do not mix old and new batteries, different types of ba tteries (stan- dard, alka line, or rechargeab le), or rechargeable bat teries of diff erent capacities. Follow these steps to inst all batteries. 1. Set DC/ AC on t he back of the karaoke syste m to DC .
7 Follow these steps t o connect an option- al DC adapter to the karaoke system. 1. Set DC/AC to DC . 2. Insert the DC adapter ’ s barrel plug i nto th e DC 12 V IN j ack, t hen plug the adapte r into your vehicle’s cigarette- lighter soc ket.
8 CONNECTING OTHER AUDIO COM PONENTS You can connec t an ext ernal audio source or compo nent to the karaoke system, so you can sing along w ith other audio formats like CDs or videos, or hear the karaoke’s sound from other speakers like a P A system.
9 OPERATION T URNING POWER ON/OF F To turn on the kara oke syst em, press POWER . The POWER indicator lights. To tu rn off the system , press POWER again so the POWER indicator turns off. ADJUSTING T HE SOUND Use these controls t o get t he system’s soun d just right.

11 Before y ou play a c assette tape, set AUX/T APE on the back of the s ystem to TA P E . Normal Play Follow these steps to play a cass ette tape. 1. Load a cas sette tape. 2. Press POW ER to turn o n th e syst em. 3. Press PLA Y on t he deck you a re using.
12 Co nsecut ive Play You can set the kara oke syst em to pl ay one side of a tape in T APE 2, t hen auto- matically play one side of a tape in TAPE 1 . 1. Load the cassette t ape yo u want to hear first in T APE 2, then lo ad the ot her c asse tte t ap e in T APE 1.
13 SINGING ALONG Now , get ready for some fun ! In this sec- tion, we tell you how to conne ct your mi- cropho ne and sing along with the karaoke system . Wa rn in g : To protect your hearing, set VOLUME on t he karaoke syste m and the volume contr o l on any c o nnected ext er- nal au dio component to i ts lowest s etting before you turn them on.
14 SIN GING W ITH A N EX TER NAL AUDIO SOURCE If you connected another audio source to the karao ke syst em’s AUX I N jacks , follow these steps to sing a long with the sound from that audio source. 1. Set AUX/ T APE on t he back of t he karaoke syste m to AUX .
15 RECORDING You can record ont o a regular cassette tape as you s ing along with the mu sic from a karaoke audio c assette tape, or a regular prerecorded cassett e tape, or from another audio s ource. You ca n also record the sound from the audio source alone, or dub f rom one c assette tape to anothe r.

18 CARE AND MA INTENANCE Your Dual-Cassette Karaoke S ystem is an exam ple of superior design and craftsman- ship. The following suggestions will help you care for your karaoke system so you can enjoy it for years. Keep the system dry. If it ge ts wet, wipe it dry immedi ately.
19 T APE T IPS Erasi ng a Casse tte T ape 1. Set AUX/T APE to TA P E . 2. Load the tape you want to erase into T APE 1 . 3. Press POW ER . 4. Press RECORD on T APE 1. RECORD and PLA Y both lock down and t he tape records silence. 5. When th e system finishes recording over the portion of the tape you want to erase, p ress STOP/EJECT on T APE 1.
20 Res torin g T ape T e nsion a nd Sound Quality After you play a cas sette t ape s everal times, the tape mig ht become t ightly wound on the reels. This can cause playback sound quali ty to deteriorate. To restore sound quality , fast-fo rw a rd the tape from the begin ning to the end of one side, then completely rewind it.
