ASUS H87-PLUS 3-1 Chapter 3 BIOS setup 3 3.1 Knowing BIOS The new ASUS UEFI BIOS is a Unied Extensible Interface that complies with UEFI architecture, offering a user-friendly interface that goes beyond the traditional keyboard- only BIOS controls to enable a more exible and convenient mouse input.
3-2 Chapter 3: BIOS setup Chapter 3 3.2 BIOS setup program Use the BIOS Setup to update the BIOS or congure its parameters. The BIOS screen include navigation keys and brief onscreen help to guide you in using the BIOS Setup program.
ASUS H87-PLUS 3-3 Chapter 3 3.2.1 EZ Mode By default, the EZ Mode screen appears when you enter the BIOS setup program. The EZ Mode provides you an overview of the basic system information, and allows you to select the display language, system performance mode and boot device priority .

The other items (My Favorites, Ai T weaker , Advanced, Monitor , Boot, T ool, and Exit) on the menu bar have their respective menu items.

The items in this menu may vary based on the CPU installed. Intel Adaptive Thermal Monitor [Enabled] [Enabled] Enables the overheated CPU to throttle its clock speed to cool down.

ASUS H87-PLUS 3-27 Chapter 3 3.6.3 SA T A Conguration While entering Setup, the BIOS automatically detects the presence of SA T A devices. The SA T A Port items show Empty if no SA T A device is installed to the corresponding SA T A port. Scroll down to display the other BIOS items.

3-34 Chapter 3: BIOS setup Chapter 3 Deep S4 [Disabled] When enabled, the system in S4 state will further reduce power usage and will power off the USB and PS/2 devices. The system in deep S4 state can be woken up via the power button, devices in LAN, or other ways except via the USB and PS/2 devices.

The following items appear only when you set the CPU Q-Fan Control item to [ Enabled ]. CPU Fan Speed Low Limit [200 RPM] Allows you to set the low limit warning for CPU Fan speed.

ASUS H87-PLUS 3-39 Chapter 3 3.8 Boot menu The Boot menu items allow you to change the system boot options. Scroll down to display the other BIOS items. Boot Conguration Fast Boot [Enabled] [Disabled] Allows your system to go back to its normal boot speed.
3-40 Chapter 3: BIOS setup Chapter 3 PS/2 Keyboard and Mouse Support [Auto] Select any of these settings when PS/2 keyboard and mouse are installed. These settings only apply when Fast Boot is enabled.

ASUS H87-PLUS 3-43 Chapter 3 KEK Management The KEK (Key-exchange Key or Key Enrollment Key) manages the Signature database (db) and Revoked Signature database (dbx). Key-exchange Key (KEK) refers to Microsoft ® Secure Boot Key-Enrollment Key (KEK). Delete the KEK Allows you to delete the KEK from your system.
3-44 Chapter 3: BIOS setup Chapter 3 DBX Management The dbx (Revoked Signature database) lists the forbidden images of db items that are no longer trusted and cannot be loaded. Delete the dbx Allows you to delete the dbx le from your system. Deleting the dbx exposes your system to security threats.
ASUS H87-PLUS 3-45 Chapter 3 3.9 T ools menu The T ools menu items allow you to congure options for special functions. Select an item then press <Enter> to display the submenu. 3.9.1 ASUS EZ Flash 2 Utility Allows you to run ASUS EZ Flash 2. Press [Enter] to launch the ASUS EZ Flash 2 screen.
3-46 Chapter 3: BIOS setup Chapter 3 Label Allows you to key in a label of the setup prole. Save to Prole Allows you to save the current BIOS settings to the BIOS Flash, and create a prole. Key in a prole number from one to eight, press <Enter>, and then select Y es .
ASUS H87-PLUS 3-47 Chapter 3 3.10 Exit menu The Exit menu items allow you to load the optimal default values for the BIOS items, and save or discard your changes to the BIOS items. Y ou can access the EZ Mode from the Exit menu. Load Optimized Defaults This option allows you to load the default values for each of the parameters on the Setup menus.
