8 G etting Started —Continued Hooking Up the RI Dock L R AUDIO INPUT S VIDEO IN 1. Using the supplied audio cable, connect the RI Do ck’ s AUDIO OUT L/R jacks to your amp ’ s T APE (MD , CDR) IN jacks. 2. Using the supplied cable, connect the RI Do ck’ s jack to an jack on one of the Onkyo components in your system.
9 U sing the RI Dock ■ A lign your iP od with the RI Dock’ s iP od slot, and carefully place y our iPod in the slot , as shown. The iP od’ s dock connector will fit securely onto the RI Dock’ s dock connector .
10 U sing the RI Dock —Continued ■ Basic Operation Y ou can use your amp’ s remote controller to c ontrol basic iPod functions such as Play , P ause, Next Song, Pr evious Song, and so on. De pending on your amp and generation of iP od , you may also be able to use the follo wing functions.
11 U sing the RI Dock —Continued • Linked Dimmer Opera tion When you use your amp ’ s Dimmer function to change its display’ s brightness , the brightness of the RI Dock’ s Power indicator will change as well.
12 U sing the RI Dock —Continued The following table sho ws which remote controller buttons t o use to control your iP od . Be sure to select the appropriate remote mode first, and point your remote contr oller at your amp . Note that some buttons may be labelled differently , and some remote c ontrollers may not hav e certain buttons.
13 U sing the RI Dock —Continued T hese functions can be used with the iPod photo , iPod mini, and 4th generation iPods , when used with cer tain Onkyo amps.
14 U sing the RI Dock —Continued Starting Playback on Y our iPod If you start playback on your iP od, your amp ’ s input source will automatically switch to the input t o which y our iP od is connected. If your amp is on Standby , it will automatically turn on first.
15 Tr oubleshooting ■ There ’ s no sound •M ake sure your iPod is pla ying. •M ake sure the iPod is inserted properly in the RI Dock. •M ake sure your amp is turned on, the correct input source is selected, and the volume is turned up. •M ake sure the cable plugs are pushed in all the way .
