18 5 UNP ACKING Remove th e instrumen t from its packin g case and rem ove any s hipping tie s, cla mps, or pac king mater ials. Carefully foll ow any instructi ons given on any attached ta gs. Inspect t he instrum ent for s cratches, d ents, d amage t o case cor ner etc.
19 6 PRE-OPERATIONAL CHECK The CL526 p ortable calibrator i s powered by four Ni-M H rechargeable batter ies. The ex ternal battery charger, supplied a s stand ard, may be ordered fo r either 110/120 V ac or 220/240 Vac pow er source. T o modify t he charg er’s power v oltage fo llow the i nstruct ions in par.
20 7 ELECTRIC AL CONNECTIONS Appropriate ex tension wires shoul d be used b etw een the thermo couple (or instru ment und er calibrat ion) and t he CL526 unless the t hermocouple l eads per mit dire ct connec tion. Make sure t hat both thermoc ouple and compen sating cable ar e connecte d with th e correct polarity.

22 The table bel ow summarizes the error lim its for Pre mium and St andard gr ades, while Ex tension grade wire is characteriz ed by l imits of error ex ceeding those in the t able. Errors up to ±4°C may be experienc ed when u sing Ex tension grad e thermo couple w ire for J and K thermo couples.

35 10 DIGITAL INTERFACE The CL526 portab le calibra tor i s equipped with a di gital i nterface. T he interface circuit is essent ially based on th e serial communic ation interfa ce sub system (SCI) o n the ch ip of the m icropro cessor. The output v oltage lev els are TT L at 0 to +5 V.
