2-4 Chapter 2: Knowing the Parts Status Indicators (front) P ower Indicator The power indicator ligh ts when the Eee PC is turned ON and blinks slo wly when the Eee PC is in the Sa ve-to- RAM (Suspend) mode. This indicator is OFF when the Eee PC is turned OFF .

The bottom of the Eee PC can get v er y hot. Be careful when handling the Eee PC while it is in operation or rec ently been in operation.

3-2 Chapter 3: Getting Star ted This Eee PC may c ome with either a two or three-prong plug depending on territory to fit your wall outlet. I f a three-prong plug is provided , you must use a grounded AC outlet or use a properly grounded adapter to ensure saf e operation of the Eee PC.
ASUS Eee PC 3-3 Damage may occur if you use a diff erent adapter to power the Eee PC or use the Eee PC’ s adapter to power other electrical devices. If there is smoke, bur ning scent, or ex treme heat coming from the AC-DC adapt er , seek ser vicing.
3-4 Chapter 3: Getting Star ted • Only use battery packs and power adapters supplied with this Eee PC or specifically approv ed by the manufacturer or retailer for use with this model or else damage may occur t o the Eee PC. The output voltage of this adapter is +12Vdc , 3A.
ASUS Eee PC 3-5 F or safety reasons, DO NOT throw the batt er y in fire, DO NOT short circuit the contacts, and DO NOT disassemble the battery . If there is any abnormal operation or damage to the battery pack caused by impact, turn OFF the Eee PC and contact an authorized service center .
3-6 Chapter 3: Getting Star ted Emergency Shutdown & Reset In case your operating syst em cannot properly turn OFF or restar t, there are additional wa ys to shutdown and reset y our Eee PC: Shutdown: Hold the power button until the system shuts down.
ASUS Eee PC 3-7 Touchpad Usage Single-finger gesture input Clicking/T apping - With the pointer over an item, press the left button or use your fingertip to touch the touchpad lightly , keeping your finger on the touchpad until the it em is selec ted.
3-8 Chapter 3: Getting Star ted Dragging - Dragging means to pick up an it em and place it anywhere on the screen y ou wish. Y ou can move the pointer ov er the item you select, and while keeping the lef t button depressed , moving the pointer t o the desired location, then release the button.

When connecting, you ma y hav e to enter a password . 2. Select the wireless access point you want t o connect to from the list and click Connect to build the connection.
