9 100BASE-FX MDAs The 100 BASE-FX MDAs confo rm to the IEEE 802.3u 100BASE -FX standard and can att ach fiber-base d 100 Mb/ s connect ions t o Fast Ethern et devic es. Th e 100B ASE-FX MDAs do not su pp ort s ing le-mod e f ib er ca b l e . The follow i ng are the 100B ASE-F X MDAs.

22 GBIC MDA The 450-1 GBIC MDA ( Fig ure 9 ) has a single Host port for Gigabit Interface Co nverters (GBICs). GBICs are hot-swappa ble input/ou tput e nhance ment com ponen ts that li nk Gigab it Etherne t ports with fi ber o ptic ne tworks.
