3 1. Before beginning any exercise program, con- sult your physician. This is especially impor- tant for persons over the age of 35 or per- sons with pre-existing health problems.

5 P lace all parts of the exercise cycle in a cleared area and remove the packing materials. D o not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. In addition to the included hex keys, assembly requires a phillips screwdriver and an adjustable wrench .
6 2. Attach the Rear Stabilizer (3) to the Frame (1) with two M10 x 85mm Button Screws (56). 3. While another person holds the Handlebar Post (6) near the Frame (1), connect the Upper Wire Harness (51) to the Lower Wire Harness (50) and the Power Jack Wire (65).
7 7 46 6 6. Attach the Handlebar (7) to the Handlebar Post (6) with four M6 x 30mm Button Screws (46). Be care- ful to avoid pinching the wires in the Handlebar and the Handlebar Post. 6 5. The Console (9) requires four 1.5V “D” batteries ( not included); alkaline batteries are recommended.
8 9. T urn the Seat Post Knob (20) counterclockwise sev- eral turns to loosen it. Next, pull the Seat Post Knob outward, and insert the Seat Post (1 1) into the Frame (1). Slide the Seat Post upward or downward to the desired position, and release the Seat Post Knob.
9 10. Attach an M6 x 10mm Screw (60) to the Seat P ost (1 1). Next, slide the Seat Carriage (19) onto the Seat Post. Then, adjust the Seat Carriage to the d esired position and tighten the Seat Knob (31) into the Seat Carriage. See the inset drawing. Attach another M6 x 10mm S crew (60) to the Seat Post (1 1).
10 HOW TO ADJUST THE HEIGHT OF THE SEA T F or effective exer- cise, the seat s hould be at the prope r height. As you pedal, there should be a slight bend i n your knees when the pedals are in the lowest posi- tion. T o adjust the seat, first turn the seat post knob counter- clockwise several turns to loosen it.
1 1 FEA TURES OF THE CONSOLE The advanced console offers an array of features designed to make your workouts more effective and enjoyable. When you select the manual mode of the console, you can change the resistance of the pedals with the touch of a button.
12 HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE N ote: If there is a sheet of clear plastic on the face of the console, remove the plastic. 1. Press any button on the console or begin ped- aling to turn on the console. When you turn on the console, the display will light.
13 5. Measure your heart rate if desired. I f there are sheets of clear p lastic on the metal contacts on the handgrip pulse sensor , remove the plas- tic. In addition, make sure that your hands are clean. T o measure your heart rate, hold the handgrip pulse sensor with your palms resting against the metal conta cts.
14 HOW TO USE A PRESET PROGRAM 1 . Press any button on the console or begin ped- aling to turn on the console. See step 1 on page 12. Select a preset program.
15 HOW TO USE A HEART RA TE PROGRAM 1 . Press any button on the console or begin ped- aling to turn on the console. See step 1 on page 12. 2. Select a heart rate program. T o select one of the heart rate programs, press the Heart Rate Programs button repeatedly until the words HEART RA TE 1 or HEART RA TE 2 appear in the display .
16 If you stop pedaling for several seconds, a series of tones will sound and the program will pause. T o r estart the program, simply resume pedaling. The program will continue until the last segment of the p rogram ends. 6. Follow your progress with the display .
17 Inspect and properly tighten all parts of the exercise cycle regularly . The exercise cycle can be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth. T o prevent damage to the c onsole, keep liquids away from the console and keep the console out of direct sunlight. TIGHTENING THE PEDALS For best performance, regularly tighten both pedals.
18 These guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program. For detailed exercise information, obtain a reputable book or consult your physician. Remember , proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results.
19 SUGGESTED STRETCHES T he correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch—never bounce. 1. T oe T ouch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible.
