1 Function key 2 Shift key 3 Sym key 4 Backspace key 5 Enter key 6 Ctrl/Mute key Insert the SIM ca rd and battery Important: Do not use a mini-UICC SIM card, also known a s a micro-SIM card, a micro-SIM card with an adapter, or a SIM card that has a mini-UIC C cutout (see figure) in this device.
2 Remove the battery, if inserted. 3 Slide the SIM card holder to unlock it , and swing it open. Insert the SIM card, with the contact area facing down, an d swing the holder back. Slide the card holder to lock it. 4 Line up the battery contacts, and insert the battery.
5 Replace the back cover. Insert the memory card A memory card may already be in the device. If not, do the following: 1 Remove the back cover and battery, if inserted.
3 Insert the memory card, with the conta ct area facing down. 4 Swing the card holder back. Slide the card holder to lock it. 5 Replace the battery and back cover.
Charge the b attery Your battery has been partially charged at the factory. If the device indicates a low charge, do the following: 1 Connect the charge r to a wall outlet. 2 Connect the charger to the device. If you are using a USB charge r, connect the charger p lug to the USB conn ector.
Chargin g with the USB data ca ble Charging with the USB data cable is slower than charging with the charger. Cha rging with the USB data cable may not work if you use a USB hub. USB hubs ma y be incompatible for charging a USB device. When the USB data cable is connected, yo u can transfer data at t he same time as charging.
When connecting any extern al device or any headset, othe r than those approved by Nokia for use with this device, to the Nokia AV Connector, pay special attention to volume levels. Switch the device on and off To switch on the device: 1 Press and hold the power key.
To switch off the device, press the power key briefly, and select Switch off! . Antenna locations Your device may have internal and ext ernal antennas.
Copy content f rom your old device You can use th e Switch ap plication to copy content such a s phone numbers, addresses, calen dar items, and images fr om your previous comp atible Nokia device to your new device. Copy conten t for the first time 1 To retrieve data from the other device for the first time, on your device, select Menu > Ctrl.
3 On your device, select the content you wa nt to transfer from the othe r device. When the transfer has start ed, you can cancel it and con tinue later. Content is transferred from the memory of the other device to the corresponding location in your device.
Use shortcuts to repeat a transfer After a data transfer, you can save a shortcut with th e transfer settings to the main view to repeat the same transfer la ter. To edit the shortcut, select Options > Shortcut settings . For example, you can create or change the name of the shortcu t.
To use Ovi Suite, you need a PC that runs Microsoft W i ndows XP (SP2 or newer) or Windows Vista (SP1 or newer) , and is compatible with a US B data cable or with Bluetooth connectivity. Ovi Suite is not compatible wi th Apple Macintosh computers. For further information on Ovi Suite, see the built-in help, or go to www.
The available services may als o vary by country or region, and not all languages are supported. To access Nokia's Ovi servi ces, go to www.ovi. com, and register your own Nokia account. For more information, go to the support section at www.ovi.

Personal unblocking key (PUK) code and PUK2 code — These cod es (8 digits) are required to change a blocked PIN code or PIN2 code, respectively.

One-touch keys With the One-touch keys, you can access app l ications and ta sks quickly. Your service provider may have assigned applications to the keys, in which case yo u cannot change them. 1 Home key 2 Messaging key Home key To access the home screen, press the home key briefly.
When you press the messaging key for the first time, you are asked to define the messaging key set tings. Follow the instruct ions on the display. You can edit the settings later.

When you start writing a word, your devi ce suggests poss ible words. When the correct word is found, scroll right to confirm it. While writing, you can a lso scroll down to access a list of suggested words. I f the desired word is on the list, select the word.
This feature may not be av ailable in certain regi ons. Copy contacts Select Menu > Contacts . When you open the contacts list for the firs t time, the device asks if you w ant to copy names and numbers from the SIM card to your device. Start copying Select OK .
Send a contact to another device Select the contact and Options > Vi ew detai ls > Options > Send business card . Listen to the voice ta g assigne d to a contact Select the contact and Options > Vi ew detai ls > Options > Voice tag deta ils > Options > Play voice tag .
To define a ringing tone for a contact or a contact group, select the contact or con tact group, Options > View details > Option s > Ringing tone , and a ringing tone. To define the call text for a contact, select the contact and Options > View details > Options > A dd text for call .
Create calendar entri es Select Menu > Calendar . You can create the following types of calendar entries: • Meeting entries remind you of events that have a specific dat e and time. • Meeting requests are invitati ons that yo u can send to the participants.
Before you can create meeting requests , you must have a compa tible mailbox configured for your device. To create a meeting entry: 1 To create a meeting en try, se lect a day and Options > New en try > Meeting request . 2 Enter the names of the required partic ipants.
• To-do view shows all to-do items. • Agenda view shows the events fo r the selected day in a list. To change the view, select Options > Change view and the desired view. Tip: To open the week view, select the week number. To move to the next or the previous day in month, week, day, and agenda view, select the desired day.
To change the time, dat e, and clock type settings, select Options > Sett ings . To automatically update th e time, date, an d time zone information to your devi ce (network service), select Optio ns > Settings > Automa tic time update > On .
Multitasking You can have several app lications open at the same time. To switch between active application s, press and hold the home ke y, scroll to an applicat ion, and press the scroll key. To close the selected application, press the bac kspace key.
Pressing the end key always ends a call, even if another appl ication is ac tive. To make a call from the contacts list, select Menu > Contact s . Scroll to the desired n ame, or enter th e first letters or characters of th e name in the search field.
Tip: To put an active call on hold, press the call key. To activate the held call, press the call key again. Send Touch tone strings 1 Select Options > Send touch tones . 2 Enter the Touch tone string or s earch for it from th e contacts list. 3 To enter a wait chara cter (w) or a pause charact er (p), press * rep eatedly.
Answer or decline a call To answer the call, press the call key. To mute the ringing tone of an incomi ng call, select Silence . If you do not want to answer a ca ll, press the end key. If you activate the Call forwarding > Voice calls > If b usy function in phone sett ings to forward calls, declining an incoming ca ll also forwards the call.
Select a participant, and select Private . The conference call is put on hold on your device. The other participants ca n still continue the conference call. After you finish the private conversation, select Option s > Co nference to return to the conference call.
To answer the waiting call, press the ca ll key. The f irst call is put on hold. To switch between the two ca lls, select Swap . To conne ct an inco ming cal l or a call on hold with an active call an d to disconnect yourself from the calls, select Option s > Transfer .
To forward calls to your voice mailbox, se lect a call type, a fo rwarding option, and Options > Activate > To o ther number . Enter the number, or select Find to retrieve a number saved in Contacts. To check the current forwardi ng status, scroll to the forwarding option, a nd select Options > Check status .
To change the pa ssword used for restricting voice, fa x, and data calls, select Options > Edit restriction passwd. . Enter the current code, then the new code twice. The restriction password must be fo ur digits long. For details, contact your service provider.
If several numbers ar e saved for a name, the device selects the default numbe r, if defined. Otherwise, the device selects the first available number in a contac t card.

Answer or decline a video call When a video call arrives, is displayed. To answer the video call, press the call key. Allow video ima ge to be sent to caller? is displayed. To start sending live vide o image, select Yes . If you do not activate the video call, you only h ear the sound of the caller.
Video sharing requirements Video sharing requires a 3G connection. Fo r more information on the service, 3G network availability, an d fees associated with using this service, contact your service provider. To use video sharing you must do the following: • Ensure that your device is set up for person-to-person connections.
5 Enter the SIP address in the format username@domainname (you can use an IP address instead of a domain name). If you do not know the SIP address for th e contact, you can use the phone number of the recipient, including the co untry code, to share video (if supp orted by the network service provider).
Turn the loudspeaker on and off. Pause and re sume video sharing. Switch to full screen mode (available for receiver only). 3 To stop sharing video, select Stop . To end the voice call, press the end key. When you end the call, video sharing a lso ends.
To play the video at th e original volume, sele ct Options > Original volume . This does not affect the aud io playback of the other party of the phone call. To end the sharing session, select Stop . To end the voice call, press the end key. When you end the call, also video sharing ends.
Call duration Select Menu > Log . To view the approximate duration of your last call, and dialle d and received calls, select Call timers . Packet data Select Menu > Log . You may be charged for your packet data connections by the amount of data sen t and received.
To copy a phone number from the log to the clipboard, a nd paste it into a text message, for example , select Optio ns > Use numb er > Co py . To filter the log, select Options > Filter and a filter. To set the log duration, se lect Options > Settings > Log durati on .
Messaging folders Select Menu > Messaging . Messages and data received usi ng Bluetoot h connectivity are st ored in the Inbox folder. E-mail messages a re stored in th e Mailbox folder. Messages that you have been writing can be stored in the Drafts folder.
To view the properties of a message, select the message and Opt ions > Message details . E-mail Set up your e- mail With the Nokia e-mail wizard, you can set up your corporate e-mail account, such as Microsoft Outlook, Mail for Exchange, or Intellisync, an d your internet e-mail account.
4 Enter your message in the text area. 5 Select Options and from the following: Add attachment — Add an attachmen t to the messag e. Priority — Set th e priority of the message. Flag — Flag the message for follow-up. Insert template — Insert text from a template.
To read a received e-mail messa ge, select the mailbox, and select the message from the list. To reply to the message sender, select O ptions > Reply . To reply to the sender and all other recipients, select Options > Reply to al l . To forward the messa ge, select Options > Forward .
Decline — Decline the meeting request. Forward — Forward the meeting request to another recipient. Remove from ca lendar — Remove a canceled m eeting from your calendar.
Disconnect from the mailbox Select Menu > Messaging and a mail box. To cancel the synchronization between th e device and the e-mail server, and to work with e-m ail without a wireless connection, select Options > Disconnect . If your mailbox does not have the Disconnect option, select Options > Exit to disconnect from the mailbox.
Warn before delete — Set the device to display a warning before you delete an e-mail message. Home screen — Define how many lines of e-mail are displayed in the home screen information area. Nokia Messaging The Nokia Messaging serv ice automatically pu shes e-mail from your existing e-mail address to your Nokia E5 -00.
To listen to a message from your Inbox, scroll to the message, and select Options > Listen . To listen to an e-mai l message from your mailbox, scroll to the message, a nd select Options > Listen . To stop the reading, press the end key. To pause and continue the reading, press the scroll key.
To delete languages or vo ices, select the item and Options > Delete . Text and multimedia messages Select Menu > Messaging . Only devices that have co mpatible features can rece ive and display multimedia messages. Th e appearance of a m essage may vary depending on the receiving device.

In the Out box folder, you can delete such a message, or move it to the Drafts folder. 1 Select New message . 2 To send a text or multimed ia message (MM S), select Message . To send a multimedia message that includes one sound clip, select Audio message .
Note: T h e m es sa g e s e n t i c o n o r t e x t o n y o u r d e v i c e s c r e e n do e s n o t i n di c a t e that the mess age is received at the intended destination. Your device supports text messages beyond the limit for a single message. Longer messages are sent as two or more messages.
Tip: If you receive multimedia messages th at contain objects unsupported by your device, you cannot open them. Try to send t hese objects to anot her device such as a computer, and op en them there. 1 To reply to a multimedi a messag e, open the message, and select Options > Reply .
To select the background color for the presentation and back ground images for different slides, select Option s > Background settings . To set effects between images or slides, s elect Options > Effect settings . To preview the presentation, select Opt ions > Preview .
Tip: To view or play a multimedia object in a multimedia message, select View image , Play sound clip , o r Play vide o clip . To view the name and size of an attach ment, select the message and Options > Objects . To save a multimedia object, select Options > Objects , the object, and Options > Save .
Send service commands You can send a service reque st message (a lso known as a USSD com mand) to your service provider and request activation for certain network services. Contact your service provider for the service request text. To send a service request message, select Options > Service commands .
Messaging settings Select Menu > Messaging and Opti ons > Settings . Open the message type in question, and define a ll fields marked with Must be defined o r with a red asterisk. Your device may recognize the SIM card provider and configure the correct text message, multimedia mess age, and GPRS setti ngs automatically.
Reply via same center — Select whether you want the reply message to be se nt using the same text message center number (network service). Multimedia mes sage settings Select Menu > Messaging and Opti ons > Settings > Multimedia me ssage . Select from the following: Image size — Scale images in multimedia messages.
Message validity — Select how long the messaging center tries to send the message (network service). If the recipien t of a message cannot be reac hed within the validity period, the message is remove d from the multimedia messaging center. Maximum time is the maximum amount of time allowed by the network.
Other settings Select Menu > Messaging and Opti ons > Settings > Other . Select from the following: Save sent messages — Select whether to save se nt messages in the Sent folder. Number of saved m sgs. — Enter the number of sent messages to save.
Using the service or downlo ading content may cause tran sfer of large amounts of data, which may result in da ta traffic costs. Connectivity Your device offers several options to connect to the internet or to another compatibl e device or comput er.
Select Menu > Ctrl. panel > Settin gs and Phone > Network and from the following: Network mode — Select whic h network to use. If you select Dual mode , the device uses the GSM or 3G network automa tically, according to the network parameters and the roaming agreements between the wireless service providers.
Features that use WLAN, or that are a llowed to run in the backgroun d while using other features, increase the demand on ba ttery power and reduce the battery life. Use encryption to increase the security of your Wi-Fi connection. Using encryption reduces the risk of othe rs accessing your data.
If the search finds WLANs, to create an internet access point (I AP) for a connection and start the web browser using this IA P, select the connection and Start web browsing . If you select a secured WLA N, you are as ked to enter the relevant password.
In the ad hoc operating mode, devices can send and r eceive data directly with each other. WLAN settin gs Select Menu > Ctrl. panel > Settin gs and Connection > Wi reless LAN . To have an indicator disp layed when there is a wireless LA N (WLAN) available in your current location, select Show WLAN availability > Yes .
Note: The actual invoice for calls and se rvices from your service provider may vary, depending on ne tw ork features, rounding off for billing, taxes, and so forth. To end a connection, select Option s > Disconnect . To close all open connections, select Option s > Disconnect all .
Manage synchronization profiles Select Options and the desired option. Bluetooth connectivity About Bluetooth connectivity With Bluetooth connecti vity, you can ma ke a wireless connection to other compatible devices, such as mobile phon es, compu ters, headsets, and car kits.
Select from the following: Bluetooth — Activate Bluetooth connectivit y. My phone's visib ility — To allow your device to be visible to other Bluetooth devices, select Shown to all . To s et a length of time, af te r which the visibi lity is set from shown to hidden, select Define period .

To set a device as authorized or unau thor ized, scroll to the device, and select fro m the following options: Set as authorized — Connections between your de vice and the authorized device can be made withou t your knowledge. No separate acceptance or authorization is needed.
Block a device On the Paired devices tab, go to a de vice you want to block, and select Optio ns > Block . Unblock a device On the Blocked devices tab, go to a device, and select Options > Delete . Unblock all blocked devices Select Options > Del ete all .

PC connections You can use your m obile device with a va riety of compatible PC connectivity and data communica tions applic ations. With Nokia Ovi Suite you can, for example, transfer files and images between your device and a compatib le comput er. To use Ovi Suite with USB connection mode, select PC Su ite .
To use the WLAN function of your device in a hom e network, you m ust have a working WLAN ho me connection. The home network uses the security settings of the WL AN connection. Use the h ome network feature in a WLAN infrastructure n etwork with a WLAN access point device and encryption enabled.
Disable graphics to save memo ry and speed up downloadi ng Select Options > Settings > Page > Load content > Text only . Refresh the co ntent of the web page Select Options > Web page options > Reload . View snapshots of web page s you have visited Select Back .
Select a feature from the toolbar Press the scroll key From the toolbar, sele ct from the following: Go to web address — Enter a web address. Recently visited page s — View a list of the web addresses you visit frequently. Bookmarks — Open the bookmarks view.

A cache is a memory location th at is used to store data te mporarily. If you have tried to access or have accessed confidential information requiring passwords, empty the cache after each use. The information or services you have accessed are stored in the cache.

With File manager, you can br owse, manage, and open files. The available options may vary. To map or delete drives, or to define settings for a compatible remote drive connected to your device, select Options > Remote driv es . Find and organize files Select Menu > Office > File mg r.
Back up files to a memory card Select Menu > Office > File mg r. . To back up files to a memory card, select the file types you want to back up , and Options > Back up phone memo ry . Ensure that yo ur me mory card has enough free memory for the files that you have chosen to back up.
3 Scroll to the first amount field, an d enter the value to convert. The other amount field changes automatically to show the converted value. Set base currency and exchange rate Select Menu > Office > Converter . When you change base currency, you must enter new exchange rates because all previously set exchange rates are cleared.
PDF reader Select Menu > Office > Adob e PDF . With PDF reader, you can read PDF document s on the display of your device; search for text in the documents; modify settings, s u c h a s z o o m l e v el an d p a g e v i e w s ; a n d send PDF files using e-mail.
Print — Select All pages , Even pages , or Odd pages as the print range. Print range — Select All pages in range , Curren t page , or Defined pages as the page range. Number of copi es — Select the number of copies to print. Print to file — Select to print to a file and determine the location for the file.
Image print You can print images from your device us ing a printer compatible with PictBridge. You can only p rint images that ar e in the JPEG file format. To print images in Photos, camera, or image viewer, mark th e images, and select Options > Print .
Dictionary You can translate words from one languag e to another. Not all la nguages may be supported. Look up a word to translate 1 Select Menu > Office > Dictionary . 2 Enter text in the search field. As you en ter text, suggestions of words to translate are displayed.
To synchronize or to define synchronization settings for a note, select Opti ons > Synchronization . Select Start to initialize synchronization or Settings to define the synchronization settings for the note. Positioning (GPS) You can use applications su ch as GPS data to determine your location, or measure distances and coordinates.
A-GPS requires network support. Assisted GPS (A-GPS ) is used to retrieve assistance data over a p acket data connection, which assists in calculating the coordinates of your current location when your device is receiving signals from satellites.
Establishing a GPS connection may take from a coup le of seconds to several minute s. Establishing a GPS con nection in a vehicle may take longer. The GPS receiver draws its power from th e device battery. Using the GPS receiver may drain the battery fast er.
If your device has found satellites, a bar fo r each satellite is display ed in the satellite information view. The longer the bar, the stronger the sa tellite signal is. When your device has received enough data from th e satellite signal to calculate t he coordinates of your locat ion, the bar color changes.
The coordinates in the GPS are expressed using the internation al WGS-84 coordinate system. Select Options and from the following: New landmark — Create a new landmark. To make a positi oning request for your current location, select Current position .

To set your trip destin ation, select Options > Set destination and a la ndmark as the destination, or enter the lati tude and longi tude coordinates. Bluetooth GPS — Use a c ompatible external GPS receiver with Bluetooth connectivity. Network based — Use information from the ce llular network (network service).
• Find your way with turn-by-turn directions. • Synchronize your favorite locations and routes between your cellular phone and the Ovi Maps internet service.
Move on the map Use the scroll key. By default, the map is oriented north. View your current or last known location Press 0 . Zoom in or out. Press * or # . If you browse to an area not covered by maps that are stored on you r device and you have an active data connection, new maps a re automatically downloaded.
4 Information area Change the look of the map View the map in different modes, to easily identify where you are. Select . Menu > Maps an d My position . Press 1 , and select from the following: Map — In the standard map view, details such as location names or highway numbers, are easy to read.
About position ing methods Maps displays your location on the ma p using GPS, A-GPS, or cell ID based positioning. The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a sa tellite-based navigati on system used for calculating your locati on. Assisted GPS ( A-GPS) is a network service th at sends you GPS data, improving the speed and accuracy of the positioning.
Depending on the available positioning method, the accuracy of positioning may vary from a few meters to several kilometers. Find a location Maps helps you find spe cific locations an d types of business you are looking for. Select Menu > Maps and Find places .
Select Menu > Maps and My position . View the detail s of a place Select a place, press the scroll key, and select Sh ow detail s . Save places and routes Save addresses, places of in terest, and ro utes, so they can be quickly used later. Select Menu > Maps .

Standby — Change the theme used in the home screen. Wallpaper — Change the background image in the ho me screen. Call image — Change the image displayed during calls. Audio the mes — Set sounds for various device events. To activate or deactivate the theme effects, select Ge neral > Opt ions > Theme effects .
Reverberation — Select the desired effect to adjust the amount of echo. Doppler effect — Select On to set the ringing tone sound higher when you are closer to your device, and lower when yo u are farther away. This setting is not available for all effects.

You may als o lose the license and the content if the files on your device get co rrupted. Losing the lic ense or the content may limit your ability to use the same content on your device again.
Synchronization With the Sync application, yo u can synchron ize your notes, messages, contact s, and other information with a remote server. Select Menu > Ctrl. panel > Connectivity > Sync . You may receive synchronization settings as a configuration message from your service provider.

Select from the following: Phone and SIM card — Edit the security settings for your device and SIM card. Certific ate manage ment — Manage your security certificates. Protected content — Edit your settings for DRM-protected content. Security module — Manage your security module.
Restore origina l settings To restore the original device settings, select Menu > Ctrl. panel > Se ttings an d General > Factory s ettings . To do this, you need your device lock code. After resetting, the device may take a long er time to power on.
Call settings Select Menu > Ctrl. panel > Settin gs and Phone > Call . Select from the following: Send my caller ID — Display your phone number to the person you are calling. Call waiting — Set the device to notify you of incoming calls while you are in a call (network service).
Tip: Selecting UMTS enables faster data transfer, but may increase the dema nd on battery power and reduce the battery life . In regions close to both GSM and UMTS networks, selecting Dual mode may cause consta nt ju mping between the two networks, which also increases the demand on battery power.
XDM profile — Create an XDM profile. The XDM profile is required for many communications applications, for example, presence. Presence — Edit the settings for presence (n etwork service). To register for the service, contact your service provider.
To edit the settings of an access point, select one of the access point groups, scroll to an access point, and select Options > Edit . Use the instructions provided by your service provider to edit the following: Connection name — Enter a name for the connection.
