card. Use of inco mpatible SIM cards may damage the card or the device , and may corrupt data stored on the card. Do not attach any stickers to your SIM card. 1 Make sure the phone is switched off. 2 Place y our fingernail in the gap on the right edge of the back cover, and carefully lift and remove the cover.
5 Line up the battery contacts, insert the battery, and re place the back cover. Remove the SIM card 1 Switch the phone off. 2 R emove the back cover. 3 Remove the battery, if inserted. 4 Pl ace your fingernail in the slot above the SIM card, push the SIM card towards the bottom edge of the phone, and remove the card.
2 Make sure the contact area of the memory card is facing down, and insert the card. Push the card in, until it locks into place. 3 Re place the back cover.
Important: Do not remove the memory card when an app is using it. Do ing so may damage the memory card and the device and corrupt data stored on the card. Charge your phone Charge the battery Your battery has been partially charged at the factory, bu t you may need to re charge it before you can switch on your phone for the first ti me.
You can use your phone while it's charging. To avoid breaking the charger connector, be carefu l when connecting or disconnecting the char ger cable. Switch the phone on or off Switch on Press and hold the power key until the phone vibrate s. Switch off Press and hold the power key .
Lock the keys and screen To avoid accidentally making a call when your phone is in your pocket or bag, lock the keys and screen of your phone. Press the lock key. Unlock the keys and screen Press the lock ke y, then drag the lock screen left or right.
When you're not using your phone, the ke ys and screen lock automatically after a while. You can set the length of the delay . Set how long before the keys and scr een lock 1 Sel ect > Settings and Phone > Display > Screen/keylock time-out .
Nokia account When you switch your phone on for the fi rst time, your phone guides you through creating a Nokia account. You can: • Access all Nokia services wi th a single username and password, both on your phone and a compatible computer • Download content from Nokia service s • Save details about your phone model and contact information.
If your old Nokia phone doesn't have the Phone switch app, your new phone sends it in a message using Bluetooth. To install th e app, open the message in your old phone, then follow the instructions shown o n the phone. Tip: You can also use the Phone switch app to copy content from other phones later.
Do not connect products that create an outp ut signal, as this may damage the device. Do not connect any voltage source to th e Nokia AV connector. If you connect an external device or headset, other than those approved by No kia for use with this device, to the No kia AV connector, pay special attention to vol ume levels.
Tip: You can download more content su pported by NFC from Nokia Store. Activa te NFC Select > Settings and Connectivity > NFC > NFC > On . Connect to a Bluetooth accessory usi ng NFC Touch the NFC area of the acce ssory with the NFC area of your phone, and select Yes .
Use the user guide in your phone Your phone has a built-in user guide. It's always with you, available when needed. Select > User guide . Search the user guide When th e user g uide is open, select > Se arch , then write a letter or a word in the search field.
Example: To send a contact card or delete an alarm, tap and hold the contact or alarm, then select the option you want. Drag an item Tap and hold the item, then slid e your finger across the screen. Example: You can drag items on the home scr een, or when arranging the main menu.
Example: To switch to another home screen, swipe left or right. To quickly scroll through a long list or menu, slide your finger quickly up or down the screen, then lift your finger. To stop the scrolling, tap the screen. Zoom in or out Place two fingers on an i tem, such as a map, photo, or web page, then slide your fingers apart or together.
Use shortcuts You don't have to navigate long paths to , for example , open or close an internet connection, or to sil ence your phone. You can access these se ttings directly in the status menu, no matter what application or view you're in.
Applications running in the background increase the demand on battery power and use memory. To close an applicatio n that you are not using, se lect . Tip: To close al l open applications, select an d hold the task switcher, and from the pop-up menu, select Close all .
The on-sc reen keyb oard in por trait mode may not be a vailable in all writin g langua ges. Keys on the ke yboard The layout of the keyboard may vary, de pending on the writing language, input mode, and character range you use. 1 Keyboard 2 Shift and caps lock key - Change the characte r case.
Add a new word to the dictionary Select the word you have written in the candidate bar. Write using the keyb oard Switch between character cases Select . Add an accent to a character Select and hold the character, then select the character from the pop-up.
Keys on the ke ypad 1 Character keys 2 Character/number mode key - Type in special characters or numbers. 3 Close key - Close the keypad. 4 Language key - Switch between writing languages. Only shown when more than one language has been selected. 5 Space/enter key – Type in a space or move the cursor to the next row.
Use predictive t ext when writing 1 Start writ ing a word. 2 Yo ur phone suggests possibl e words as you write. When the correct word is shown, select the word.
Icons shown on your phone General icons The touch screen an d keys are locked. Someone has tried to call you. You have unread messag es. If the message icon is blinking, your Inbox folder may be f ull. You have a missed calendar event. An alarm is set.
A compatible headset is connected to your phone. A compatible car kit is connected to your phone. Network icons Your phone is connected to a GSM network. Your phone is connected to a 3G network. A Wi-Fi connection is open. A GPRS data connection is opening or closing.
Search your phone and the internet Explore your phone and the internet . Yo u can search for mail, contacts, photos, music, or apps store d on your phone and on the internet. Select > Se arch . 1 Start writing a search word, then select from the pro posed matches.
To change the wallpaper, on the home screen, select > Change wallpaper . Lower the brightness of the screen Select > Settings and Phone > Display > Brightness . Switch the Big clock screen saver off Select > Settings and Themes > Scre en saver > None .
You can personalise the profiles in the following ways: • Change the ringtone and message alert tones. • Change the volume of the ringto ne and key tones. • Mute key tones and notifi cation tones. • Activate vibration alerts. • Set the phone to say the name of the contact who is calling.
2 Se t the time that you want the timed prof ile to expire at. Use your phone offlin e In plac es where y ou do not want to ma ke or receive calls, you may still ac cess your music, video s, and offline games if you switch to the offline profile. Press the power key , then select Turn offline mode on .

Add a shortcut to the home screen Did you know that you can create shortcut s to your most used applications and features? You can add shortcuts to applicatio ns or actions, such as writi ng a message. Tap and hold an empty area on the home screen, and from the pop-up menu, select Add shortcut and the application or action.
The contact is removed from the home scr een, but rem ains in your co ntacts list. Organise your apps Want to find your most used apps more quickly? In the main menu, you can organise your apps into fold ers, hi ding your least used apps. Select . Create a new folder Select > New folder .

To delete a number, select . To type in the + character, used f or international calls, sel ect * twice. 2 Press the call key. 3 To end the call, press the end key. Search for a contac t from the dialler On the home screen, select , then start writing the cont act's first or second name.
Switch the loudspeaker on during a call To allow others in the roo m to join in with a call, switch the built-in loudspeaker on. Select . Switch the loudspeaker off Select . Make a conference call You can have a conference call with up to six people , inc luding y ourself.
Drop someone from a conferen ce call you have started Select > Show participants . Go to the person, then select . End an active conference call Press the end key. Call the numbers you use the most You can quickly call your frie nds and family when you assign your most-used phone numbers to the number keys of your phone.
2 A short tone sounds, and Speak now is s ho w n. S a y c l e ar l y t h e na m e th a t is s av e d for the contact. 3 The phone plays a synthesised voice command for the recognised contact in the selected phone language , and shows the name and number.
Call a cont act in the friends list 1 Open the internet call service tab, then sign in to an internet cal l service. 2 Select a contact from the friends list, then select Inter net call . Make an interne t ca ll to a phone number 1 On the home screen, select , then type in the number.
View your missed calls On the home screen, you can see when you ha ve missed calls. Th e number of all missed events, including missed call s and received messages, is shown. To view the phone number, swipe down from the no tification area, then sel ect the missed calls notificatio n.
Prevent maki ng or receiving calls Sometimes you may want to restrict the calls that can be made or received with your phone. You can, for example, re strict all outgoing internatio nal calls or incoming call s when you are abroad. Select > Se ttings and Calling > Call barring .

Save a number from a received call 1 On the home screen, press the call key. 2 Open the Received calls tab . 3 Select and hold a phone number, and from the pop-up me nu, select Save to Contacts . 4 Select whether you want to create a new contact list entry or update an existing one.
Send a message to a contact On the home screen, select the contact and Message . Remove a contact from the home screen On the home screen, select and hol d the contact, and select . The contact is removed from the home scr een, but rem ains in your co ntacts list.
Send a message to a group of people Would you like to send a mess age to all your family me mbers quickly? If you have assigned them to a group, y ou can send a message to all of them at the same time . Select > Contacts . 1O p e n t h e tab. 2 Select and hold a group title, and fro m the pop-up menu, select Creat e message .
If you allow automatic sy ncing, all the ch anges you make in the contacts list are automatically backed up to Nokia se rvices. You need a Nokia account to use Nokia services. Yo u are asked to create an account, if you access a Nokia service using your phone.
2 Select a service, then sign in. 3 Select > My Accounts > Add social network . 4 Select another service, then sign i n. 5 Select > Al l Activity .
3 Select whether to upload a photo or video. 4 To mark the items to upload, select the items. The maximum file size is 4 MB for photos and 10 MB for videos. 5 If uploading a single photo, yo u can add a caption and a tag with a comment to a particular section of the photo.
Messages About Messagin g Select > Messaging . You can send and receive various kinds of messages: • Text messages • Audio messages • Multimedia messages that co ntain pictures and videos • Group messages Messaging requires network support.
If you send a text message to o ne or more recipients, and the contact informatio n of one of the reci pients is a mail addre ss instead of a phone numbe r, the text message is converted to a multimedi a message. If the item you insert in a multimedia mess age is too large for the network, the device may automatically reduce the size.
Send an audi o message You can record a sound clip, such as a birthd ay song, and send it to your friend as an audio message. 1 Select > Messaging . 2 Select . 3 To add a contact as a recipient, sel ect To , a contact and . You can also type in a phone number.
This device is able to communicate wi th Microsoft Exchan ge ActiveSync enable d servers. The provision of this device to yo u does not grant you, and you do not receive, any rights under any Microsof.
Delete a mailbox Select and hold the mailbox, then se lect Delete mailbox . Read a received mail You can use your phone to read and reply to mail. Select > Mail . Select the mailbox and the mail. Tip: To quickly read new mail , add a mail widget to your home scree n.
3 Edit the message, if you want, then select . 4S e l e c t . Tip: If your mail contains a web address and yo u would l ike to open the address in the phone browser, select the address. Read the next or previous mail in the mailbox Use the arrow icons.
Open mail from the ho me screen You can have several mail widgets on your home scree n, depending on your phone. Each mail widget contains one mailbox, showing the three latest received mails. You can open the mails directly f rom the widget. means that new mail has arrived.
Contents of digital maps may sometimes be inac curate and incomplete. Never rely solely on the cont ent or th e servic e for esse ntial co mmunica tions, such as in emergencies. Some content is generated by third parti es and not Nokia. The content ma y be inaccurate and is subject to availability .
Change the vo ice guidance la nguage for driv ing Voice guidance helps you find your way to a de stinat ion, lea ving y ou free to enjo y the journey. Select > Drive . Select > Settings > Voice guidance and a language. Voice guidance may not be av ailable for your language.
You can also choose to allow or avoid using, for example, motorways, toll roads, or ferries. Get traffic and safety info Enhance your driving experience with re al-time info about traffic events, lane assistance, and speed limit warnings. Select > Drive .
By default, the map is oriented to north. Rotate the map to your walking direction Select . To rotate the map back to north, select again. You can also select what type of rout e you want walk navigation to follow. Select the walking mode 1 Select > Settings > Maps & Walk > Route settings .
3 If you don't want to start your journey from where you are right now, write your start point in the From box, then select fro m the matches. 4 Write your destination in the To box, then select from the matches. 5 To see earlier or later journeys, drag the screen left or right.
In some areas, timetables are not availabl e, and the journey plans are only estimates. In these areas, you can't see the depa rtures fro m the stops and stations. Find and view locati ons See where you are on a ma p If you need to get your bearings, check wh ere you are on a map.
Find a location Maps helps you find specif ic locations and businesse s. Select > Maps and . 1 Enter search words, such as a street address or place name. 2 Select an item from the list of proposed matches. The location is displayed on the map. Return to the list of proposed matches Select .
Update ma ps Select Check for updates . Remove a map Select and hold a country, then confir m that y ou want to remove the map. Tip: You can also use the Nokia Suite PC app to download the latest street maps and voice guid ance files, and co py them to yo ur phone.
Weather Is it going to rain in the afternoon? How warm will it be on Saturday? Use We ather to check the current co nditions or a fore cast for the coming days. Select > Weather . Browse the detailed forecast To browse forwards or backwards in time, drag the time slider at the bottom of the view.

Empty the cache Select > Settings > Privacy > Cle ar priv acy dat a > Cache . Add a bookmark If you visit the same website s all the time, add them to your bo okmarks, so you can easily access them. Select > Web . While browsing, tap and hold the web pa ge, then select Add boo kmark .

Camera and photos About the camera To open t he camer a, press the came ra key. Why carry a separate camera if your phon e has all you need for capturing memories? With your phone camera, you can easi ly take photos or record videos.
Your phone has a full focus cam era. With the camera, you can take photos where objects both in the foreground and backgrou nd are in focus. Press the camera key. Do not move the phone before the photo is saved and the camera is ready for a new photo.
You can also use the volume keys to zo om – you may find it easier to change the zoom level. Photo tips To open the camera, press and ho ld the camera key. • Use both hands to keep the camera steady. • If you don't use the camera for about a minute, it goes to sleep.
Take a photo in the dark To take photos even i n dim light, switch to night mode. 1 To open the camera, press the camera key. 2 Make sure you are in the Scenes sho oting mode. To switch the mode, select > Scenes . 3 Select . Record videos Record a video Besides taking photos with your phone, you can also capture your special moments as videos.
The videos are saved in Galle ry. To quickly vi ew the video yo u've recorded, se lect > . To view the previous photo or vi deo, swipe right. Tip: You can send your video in a multimedia or mail message.

Send a photo or video of that special moment or important info you need to get across in a m ultimedia or mail message, or using Bluetooth.
When you share your photo or vi deo for the first time, you may need to sign in to the social networking service. You only have to sign in the first time you share something. 3 Add a comment if you like, and select Share . Not all social netwo rking services support al l file formats or videos recorded in high quality.

Edit a photo you have taken You can do quick edits, such as crop, res ize , fix contrast, and add effects to the photos you have taken.
Tip: If you're already signed in to a soci al networking service, you can share directly to that service. Select , tap the screen to show the toolbar, and se lect the service icon on the photo toolbar. When you share your photo or vi deo for the first time, you may need to sign in to the social networking service.
Entertainment Music player About the music player Select > Mu sic pla yer . You can use your phone's music player to listen to music and podcasts while on the move. Play music Select > Music player . 1 Select , , , or to vi ew songs, artists, albums, or genres.
Tip: When listening to music, you can return to the home scree n, leaving the musi c playing in the background. Create a playlist Want to listen to different music for diff erent moods? With playlists, you can create selections of songs to play in a specific o rder.
Sync music between your p hone and PC Do you have music on your PC that you wa nt to listen on your phone? Nokia Suite i s the fastest way to copy music to your phon e, and you can use it to manag e and sync your music collection. 1 Connect your phone to a compatible computer wit h a compatible USB cable.
You can create a Nokia account, j oin Nokia Mu sic, and sign in to your account using the following: • Your phone • A compatible web browser If you already have a Nokia account, you can use that account for Nokia Music.
It is not possible to l isten to the radio through a Bluetooth headset. You can listen to the radio even when offlin e mode is activated in your phone and you do not have cellular network coverage. The quality of the radio broadcast depends on the FM radio si gnal coverage at your location.

Tip: To easily acce ss the radio, add the radio widget to the home scre en. Reorder the list of save d stations You can reorder the list of saved stations, so that your favo urites are at the top.
Set your phone to ask before all owing any card transactions Select Ask before using cards > Yes . Note: If this setting is off, your phone does n't ask for confirmation before all owing card transactions, not even when your phone or keys and screen are locked.
To browse video services, open the tab. Watch a video Select a video to play. To use the video player controls, tap the screen. Watch a video with surround sound Connect compatible headphones to your phone, then select to switch the Dolby ™ Headphon e featur e on.
Add a Web TV widge t to your home s creen Tap and hold an empty area of the home screen, and select Add widget and the desired Web TV service. Stream content wirelessly About DLNA play Select > DLNA play .
You can also zoom a photo, or stream just a part of a photo. Stream a part of a photo 1 Select the photo, place two finge rs on the screen, then slide them apart or together to crop the area. Tip: To move the cropped area, tap and hold the area, then drag it.
Clock and calend ar Clock About the clock Select > Clock . Tip: To open the cl ock, you can also select the cl ock on the ho me screen. Set and manage alarms, and check local ti mes in differen t count ries and cities. Set the time and date On the home screen, select the clock.
Update the time and date automatically You can set your phone to update the tim e, date, and time zone automatically. On the home screen, select the clock. Select > Automatic time update > On . Tip: Want to set the time and date manually? Select Automatic time update > Off .
Select and your current location, for example, London, UK. Add a location Select and a location. You can add up to 50 locations. Calendar About the calendar Select > Calendar . With your phone calendar, you can keep your schedules organised. Tip: Want quick access to your calendar? Add a calendar widget to the home screen.
Use separate calendars for work and free time You can have more than one calendar. Crea te one for work and another for your free time. Select > Calendar . Create a new calendar 1S e l e c t > Calendars > . 2 Write a name, then set a colour code for the calendar.

Write a note Notes on paper are easy to l ose. Instead of writing them down, y ou can save your notes and lists on your phone, so you alwa ys have them with you.
Select > Zip . Chat with your colleagues With Microsoft ® Communicator Mobile, you can communicate and collaborate with your colleagues in the o ffice and around the world.
An access point can be a mobile data connection or a Wi-Fi connection. You can collect access points in a destinat ion list, and rearrange the priority order within the list.
Tip: You can add a Wi-Fi widget to the home screen. To quickly switch the Wi-Fi featur e on or off , sele ct the swi tch in t he widg et. To op en the Wi -Fi app, select in the widg et. The Wi -Fi featu re needs to be swit ched on. The Wi-Fi app shows a l ist of available networks and he lps you connect to a Wi-Fi network.
2 Select Wi-Fi and your home Wi-Fi network. If your home Wi-Fi is secured, type in the passcode. If your home Wi-Fi is hidden, select Other (hidd en network) , then write the network name (ser vice set identifier, SSID). Close t he Wi-Fi connect ion Swipe down from the top of the scree n, then select .
Close a network connection If several apps are using an internet co nnection, you can use the Connection manager app to close some or all network c onnections. Select > Settings and Connectivity > Conn ection manager . In the active data connections view, you can see your current network connections.
When your phone is locked, only conne c tions to authorised device s are possible. Tip: You can also manage your Bluetooth co nnections in the status menu. To open the status menu, swipe down from th e notification area, then select Bluetooth . If Bluetooth is not displayed, select .
Send a photo or other content using Bluetooth You can use Bluetooth to send photos, videos , busi ness cards, calendar entri es, and other content to your friend's compat ible devices a nd to your computer. You can have several Bluetooth connections in use at a time.
Select > Se ttings > Connectivit y > Bluetooth . Open the Paired devices tab , select an d hold the device you want to block, and from the pop-up menu, select Block .
The phone is displayed as a portable device on your com puter. If Media transfer mode does not work on your comp uter, use Mass storage mode instead. 3 Use the file manager of the computer to copy the content.
It is recommended that you back up your personal data before updating your phone software. Warning: If you install a software update, you canno t use the device, even to make emerge ncy calls, until the installatio n is completed and the device is re started.
Select which updates to install Select > Mark updates and the updates you want to install . All updates are selected by default.
