Using a network cable, c onnec t your modem to the W AN/LAN port of your wireless r outer . d. Insert the AC adapter of your modem to the DC-IN port and plug it to a power outlet.
12 2 Getting star ted 2.1 Logging int o the W eb GUI Y our ASUS Wireless Router c omes with an intuitive web g raphical user interface (GUI) that allows y ou to easily congure its various featur es through a web br owser such as Internet Explorer , F iref ox, Safari, or Google Chrome.
13 2.2 Quick Internet Setup ( QIS) with Aut o - detection The Quick Internet Setup (QIS) function guides you in quickly setting up your Internet connection. NO TE: When setting the Internet connection for the rst time, pr ess the Reset button on your wireless r outer to reset it t o its factor y default settings.
14 3. Change the password f or the wireless r outer . When done, click Nex t . NO TE : W e recommend that y ou assign a unique administrator passw ord to protect your network fr om malicious attacks. 4. The wireless r outer automatically detects and applies the APN settings.
15 7. If the wizard failed to apply the APN settings or the PIN code of the SIM card is requir ed, you need t o manually complete the mobile broadband connection. Key in the necessary APN settings and the PIN code of your SIM car d. When done , click Connect .
16 3.2 SMS Shor t Message Ser vice (SMS) is a text messaging ser vice that allows y ou to send or receiv e messages from or on your wir eless router . 3 C onguring the General settings 3.
17 3.2.1 New SMS This function allows you t o send shor t messages from your wireless rout er . T o send a new SMS message: 1. Enter the recipien t ’ s phone number . 2. Compose y our message. 3. Click T ransmit to send the message. T o save a SMS dr aft: 1.
18 3.2.2 I nbo x Inbox allows y ou to view the receiv ed shor t messages saved in your device . Click Read to read a message , or click Delete to delete a message . 3.2.3 D rafts All the message drafts are sav ed in the Wir eless L TE Router and displayed her e.
19 4 C onguring the A dvanc ed Settings 4.1 W ireless The W ireless L TE Router operat es as a wireless access point , allowing wireless devic e to connect to the Internet. The GUI allo ws you to c ongure the radio channel, Service Set Identier (SSID), security and WPS settings.
20 3. Assign a unique name con taining up to 32 characters for your SSID (Ser vice Set Identier) or network name to identify your wireless network. Wi-F i devices can identify and c onnect to the wireless network via your assig ned SSID . The SSIDs on the information banner ar e updated once new SSIDs are sa ved to the settings.
21 7. Select the operating channel for your wir eless router . Selec t Aut o to allow the wireless rout er to automatically select the channel that has the minimum interference .
22 RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial In User Service) Setting provides an extra lay er of security when you choose WP A- Enterprise, WP A2-Enterprise, or RADIUS with 802.1x as y our Authentication Mode . 4.1.2 R ADIUS Setting T o congure the wireless RADIUS settings: 1.
23 4.1.3 Wireless M AC F ilter Wir eless MAC lt er provides con trol over packets tr ansmitted to a specied MA C (Media Access C ontrol) address on y our wireless network. T o set up the W ireless MA C lter: 1. F rom the navigation panel , go to Adv anced Settings > W ireless > W ireless MA C F ilter tab .
24 4.1.4 WPS ( W i-F i Prot ec ted Setup) WPS ( W i-Fi P rotected Setup) allow s you easy creat e a secure wireless network via the PIN code or P ush Button Contr ol (PBC) featur e.
25 T o create a secure netw ork using WPS: 1. F rom the navigation panel , go to Adv anced Settings > W ireless > WPS tab . 2. In the Enable WPS eld, select Enabled , then click Apply . 3. Set up WPS via the PIN code or PBC (Push Butt on Contr ol) method.
26 4.2 LAN 4.2.1 L AN Settings The LAN settings screen allo ws you to c ongure the local network IP address of the L TE Router and modify the DHCP server settings. To modify the LAN settings: 1. F rom the navigation panel , go to Adv anced Settings > LAN > LAN tab.

28 4.2.2 DHCP Client List The DHCP Client List scr een displays the DHCP client inf ormation. Click Refresh to updat e the connected client list. 4.3 W AN The L TE Router is implemented with an L TE (L ong T erm Evolution) module.
29 • W AN T ype-L TE/UMTS a. Set up the following: • PIN Code : Ent er the 3G/4G provider’ s PIN code. • Connection T ype : This eld allows y ou to dene your connection policies. W e r ecommend you select Aut o - T riggered by trac if y ou are not using all-y ou- can- eat data ser vice.
30 • Username / P asswor d : Enter the username and password provided b y the 3G/4G network carrier . • Dial on demand (with idle timeout timer) : Enter the time (in minutes) when the rout er goes into the sleep mode when there is no activity in the net work.
31 a. Congure the f ollowing settings below . W hen done, click Apply . • W AN C onnec tion T ype : Choose your Internet Ser vice Pr ovider type. The choices are Aut omatic IP , PPP oE or xed IP . Consult y our ISP if the router is unable to obtain a valid IP address or if you ar e unsure the W AN connection type.
32 4.3.2 M obile Connection Status The Mobile Connection Status screen displa ys the detailed Mobile Broadband connection status. • CloneorchangetheMA Caddressofthe ASUSwirelessrouter to match the M AC address of the pr evious networking device recog nized by the ISP .
33 T o congure the Data U sage settings: 1. F rom the navigation panel , go to Adv anced Settings > WA N > Mobile Connection Status tab . 2. Data trac limit : Select Enable to allow setting a limit f or your Internet trac usage. 3. Data usage limit : Set a monthly upper limit for the Internet usage.
34 4.3.3 M obile Connection Scan T o selec t your pref erred mobile broadband c onnection: 1. On the Pref erred network type eld, select a UMT S frequency band. 2. Click Scan to show all the available mobile networks . 3. Select a mobile net work and click Apply to connect to it.
35 4.3.4 UPnP UPnP (Univ ersal Plug and Play) allow s several devices (such as routers , televisions, ster eo systems , game consoles, and cellular phones), to be con trolled via an IP-based network with or without a central c ontrol through a gat eway .
36 4.3.5 Virtual S erver / P or t F or warding Virtual Ser ver is a method to direct network trac from the Internet to a specic por t or a specic range of ports to a device or number of devices on your local network.
37 4.3.6 DMZ Virtual DMZ exposes one client to the Internet, allowing this client to rec eive all inbound packets directed to y our Local Ar ea Network. Inbound trac from the Internet is usually discarded and r outed to a specic client only if port for warding or a port trigger has been congured on the network.
38 T o set up DMZ: 1. F rom the navigation panel , go to Adv anced Settings > WA N > DMZ tab . 2. Congur e the setting below . When done , click Apply . • Enable DMZ: Key in the last digit of the client’ s LAN IP address that will pr ovide the DMZ ser vice and be exposed on the Internet.
39 4.3.7 DDNS Setting up DDNS (Dynamic D omain Name System) allo ws you to access the r outer outside your network through the pr ovided DDNS ser vice. The DDNS ser vice, which maps a domain name to a static or dynamic IP address , is power ed by DynDNS.
40 4.4 F irew all 4.4.1 General The wireless r outer can ser ve as a hardw are rewall f or your network. S et up the rewall to pr otect your network from malicious attacks such as Denial of Ser vice (DoS) attacks. DoS attacks disable a device or network to den y users access to network resourc es.
41 4.4.2 MAC F ilter When MA C F ilter is enabled, only those M AC addresses in the list are allow ed or denied access to y our network . T o set up a MAC lt er: 1. F rom the navigation panel , go to Adv anced Settings > Fir ewall > MA C F ilter tab .
42 4.4.3 I ntrusion Detection Intrusion Detection blocks and prevents malicious attacks or intrusions from harming your netw ork and the devices connected to it.
43 4.4.4 Access C ontr ol Acc ess Control allo ws you to specify the clien ts or ser vices that are allowed or blocked t o the W AN por t ser vice. The access control rules are ex ecuted with the specied schedules. T o set up a network service lter: 1.
44 4. Enter a description of the clients . 5. Enter the clients ’ IP range to block the specied clients . 6. Dene a scheduling rule. Y ou can select Always Blocking or specify the day and time when the lters will be active .
45 4.4.5 URL Filter Y ou can specify key words or w eb addresses to pr event access t o specic URLs. NO TE: The URL F ilter is based on a DNS query . If a net work client has already accessed a w ebsite such as http://www .abcxxx.com, then the website will not be blocked (a DNS cache in the syst em stores previously visited websites).
46 4.4.6 S chedule Rule Each access con trol rule can be activated at a pre- dened scheduled time. Y ou can dene the schedule rule in the S chedule Rule page, and apply the rule in the Ac cess C ontrol page.
47 4.5 Administr ation 4.5.1 Sy stem The S ystem page allow s you to congur e your wireless r outer settings. T o set up the Sy stem settings: 1. F rom the navigation panel , go to Adv anced Settings > Administr ation > Sy stem tab .

50 4.7 Networ k T ools 4.7.1 Ping A ping test determines the latency (communication delay) between ASUS router and another server (such as ww w .google . com) on a network by sending multiple ICMP packets and listening for the r eplies. Enter a host name or IP addr ess to per form a Ping .
51 4.7.2 T racer oute The T racerout e test (also known as trace route or tr acer t) will trace the r oute that test packets take from one server destination to another .
52 4.7.3 W AN Captur e The W AN Captur e allows you to captur e all packets that pass through the Mobile Broadband Network. T o capture your rout er ’ s W AN packets: 1. T o star t captur ing the packets, click Start . The br owser starts to download the pktDump .
