General information About your device The wireless device described in this guide is approved for use on the EGSM 900 and GSM 1800 and 1900 networks. Contact your service provider for more information about networks.
● The security code helps to protect your phone against unauthorized use. The preset code is 12345 . You can change the code, and set the phone to request the code. ● The PIN (UPIN) code, supplied with the SIM (USIM) card, helps to protect the card against un authorized use.

This device is intended for us e with a BL-4C battery. Al ways use original Nokia batteries. See "Nokia battery authentication guidelines," p. 44 . The SIM card an d its contac ts can be easily damaged by scratches or bending, so be careful when handling, inserting, or removing the card.
3. Open the card holder (2), and insert the memory card into the card holder with the contac t surface facing inwards (3 ). 4. Close the card holder (4), and slide the card holder to lock it (5). 5. Insert the battery, an d attach the back cov er to the phone.
When connecting any external device or any headset, other than those approved by Nokia for use with this device, to the Nokia AV Connector, pay special atten tion to volume levels. Strap 1. Open the back cover. 2. Hook a strap behind the clamp as shown in the picture and close the back cover.
When you switch on your phone for the first time, you may be prompted to get the configuration settings from your service provider (network service). For more information, refer to Connect to service provi der support . See " Configuration" , p.
To call your voice mailbox, press and hold 1 . Use keys as a shortcut. See " Dialing shortcuts," p. 15 . Indica tors unread messages unsent, canceled, or failed messages missed call The keypad is locked. The phone does not ring for an incoming call or text message.
To unlock the keypad, select Unlock , and press * within 1.5 second s. If Security keyguard is set to on, enter the security code if requested. To answer a call when the keyp ad is locked, press the call key. When you end or re ject the call, the keypad automatically locks.
Voice dialing Make a phone c all by sa ying th e name th at is s aved in th e contact lis t of the phone. As voice commands are la nguage-depen dent, you must select Menu > Settin gs > Phone > Language settings > Voice recognit ion language and your language before using voice dialing.
The character cases are indicated by , , and . To change the characte r case, press # . To change from the letter to number mode, indicated by , press and hold # , and select Number mode . To change from the numbe r to the letter mo de, press and hold # .
Messaging You can read, write, send and save text and multimedia messages, e-mail, audio and flash mes sages. The messaging services can only be used if they are supported by your network or service provider. Text and multimedia messages Text messages Your device supports the sendi ng of text messages beyond the limit for a single messag e.
3. Select Send and enter one or more phone numbers or e-mail addresses in the To: field. To retrieve a phone number or e-mail address, select Add . 4. For an SMS e-mail, enter a subject in the Subject: field. 5. To send the messag e, select Send . Create a multimedia plus message 1.

Copy or move all contacts between SIM card and phone memory Select Menu > Contacts > Copy contacts or Move contacts . Delete contacts Search for the desired contact, and select Options > Delete contact .

Setup a Bluetooth connect ion Select Menu > Settings > Co nnectivi ty > Bluetooth and take the following steps: 1. Select My phone's name and enter a name for your phone. 2. To activate Bluetooth connectivit y select Bluetooth > On . indicates that Bluetooth is active.
Add contact > Pho ne sync or Phone copy , and enter the settings according to th e transfer type. To edit or delete a transfer contact select Options . Data transfer with a compatible device To connect use Bluetoot h wireless t echnology or a cable connection.

Request a software update 1. Sele ct Menu > Sett ings > Pho ne > Phone updates to r equest available software updates from your service provider. 2. Sele ct Current software details to display the current software version and chec k whether an update is needed.

To zoom in and out in the camera mode, scroll up and down or press the volume keys.

Scripts over se cure connection You can select whether to run scripts from a secure page. The phone supports WML scripts. While browsing, to allow the scripts, s elect Options > Other options > Security > WMLScript sett .
Authority certificates and us er certificates may also be saved in the security module by your service provider. To view the list of the authority or user certificates downloaded to your phone, select Menu > Settings > Security > Authority certific ates or User certificates .
Genuine enhancements Warning: Use only batteries, chargers, and enhancements approved by Nokia for use with this particular model. The use of any other types may invalidate any approval or wa rranty, and may be dangerous. A new extensive range of enhancements is available for your device.
Battery information Charging and discharging Your device is powered by a rechargeable battery. The battery can be charged and di scharged hundreds of times, but it will eventually wear out. When the ta lk and standby times are notic eably shorter than n ormal, replace the battery.
Authenticate hologram 1. When you look at the hologram on the label, you should see the Nokia connecting hands symbol from one angle and the Noki a Original Enhancements logo when looking from another angle. 2. When you angle the hologram left, right, down and up, you should see 1, 2, 3 and 4 dots on each side respectively.
Care and maintenance Your device is a product of superior design and craftsmanship and s hould be treated with care.
