Introd uction 4 1. Introduction The Nokia Bluetooth Stereo Headset (HS-12W) allows you to make and receive phone calls, and listen to FM radio and music tracks or other audio files. Read this user guide carefully before using the headset. Read also the user guide for your phone, which provides important safety and maintenance information.

Get started 6 2. Get started The headset contains the following parts: • Display (1) • Call/play key (2) • Volume down key (3) • Volume up key (4) • Power key (5) • Stop key (6) • Strap clip (7) to attach the strap to your clothing. The strap clip can be removed.
Get started 7 ■ Charge the batter y This headset has an internal, no nre movable, rechargeable battery. Do not attempt to remove the battery fr om the device as you may damage the headset. The headset HS-12W is intended fo r use with the following chargers: AC-1, ACP-12, and LCH-12.
Get started 8 ■ P air the headset with a compatible phone 1. Switch on your phone and the headset. 2. Activate the Bluetooth feature on the phone, and set the phone to search for Bluetooth devices. See the user guide of your phone for instructions. 3.
Get started 9 headset is the default phone. If th e headset is switched on within 10 meters of several paired phones, th e headset tries to connect to the default phone. If the headset cannot connect to the default phone, the headset tries to connect to the last used phone.
Operation 10 3. Operation ■ Carry the headset with you You can attach the headset to your cl othing or belt. You can also wear the headset around your neck using the neck strap.
Operation 11 Nokia phone supports the transfer of this information into the headset. If the caller’s name is unk nown, the caller’s number or Call is shown instead. To answer a call, press the call /play key, press the key on the microphone, or use the phone keys.
Operation 12 Bluetooth profile. If your phone does not support this profile, start the playing in the audio player function on your phone. To play a specific track, select it in the audio player of your phone. See the user guide of your phone for details.
Operation 13 ■ Lock or unlock the keys Slide the key lock switch towards the music key to lock or towards the top of the headset to unlock the headset keys. A note and are shown on the display. When the keys are lo cked, all key presses are ignored.
Battery information 14 4. Battery information Your device is powered by a rechar geable battery. The full performance of a new battery is achieved only after two or three complete charge and discharge cycles. The battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of times but it will eventually wear out.
