16 s 1 Attach t he cam era st rap. Attach the strap securely t o the two camera ey elets. 2 Charge the battery . Inser t the batter y q and plug the charger in w . An exhausted battery fully charges in about two hours. Unplug the charger and remove the batt ery when charging is complete.
17 s 3 Inser t the battery and a memor y card. Check to be sure the battery and card are in the correct orien- tation. Us ing the batter y to keep the orange batter y latch pressed to one side , slide the ba ttery in until it latches, and then slide in the memory card until it cli cks into place .

z 20 z Auto Photo Mode Auto photo mode is the mode generally used for taking photos. 1 Selec t auto photo mode. 2 Ready the camera. T aking Photos in Auto Photo Mode Rotate the mode dial to C . Hold the camera securely with both hands, being careful not to obstruct the lens, AF-assist illuminat or , or microphone .

31 6 Easy Panorama Follow the steps below to shoot panoramas. 1 Set foc us a nd exp osu re. Frame the start of the pan- orama and press th e shut- ter-r elease b utton halfway . Guides will appear in the display . 2 Start shooting. Press the shutter-release button the rest of the way down and then lift your fin- ger from the button.
8 32 8 Smar t Photo Selec tor Mode Choose Smart Photo Selector mode for phot os that captur e a fleeting expression on the fac e of a portrait subject or other hard-to-time shots such as group photos in par ty scenes.

9 44 9 Motion Snapshot Mode Choose Motion Snapshot mode to recor d brief movie vignettes with your photo graphs. Each ti me the shutter is released, the camera records a still image and about a second of movie foot- age.

t 52 t More on Photograph y The self-timer and optional ML -L3 remote contr ol ( 0 68) can be used to reduce camera shake or for self-portraits. The following options are available: 1 Mount the camera on a tripod. Mount the camera on a tripod or place the camera on a sta- ble, level surf ace.
53 t 3 Select the desir ed option. 4 Frame the photograph and shoot. Self-timer mode : Press the shutter- release button halfway to focus , and then press the button the rest of the way down . The self-timer lamp will star t to flash and a beep will begin to sound.

72 n Do not drop : The pr oduct may malfunc- tion if subjec ted to strong shocks or vibration. Keep dry : This product is not water- proof , and may malfunction if immersed in water or exposed to high levels of humidity . Rusting of the internal mech anism can cause irreparable damage.
