Gently push the memory card into the camera ( 1 ) to partially eject the card.

37 Shooting Features Shooting Features This chapter describes the camera’s shooting modes and the features that are available when usin g each shootin g mode. You can select shooting mode s and adjust settings according to the shooting conditions and the kind of images you want to capture.
38 Shooting Features Shoo ting Feat ures Us i n g A ( Aut o) Mode Used for general shooting. Settings can be adjusted in the shooting menu ( A 39 ) to suit the s hooting conditions and the type of s hot you want to capture.

When the camera detects the face of a dog or ca t, it focuses on the face and auto matically releases the shutter (p et port rait auto release ) 3 times at th e default se tting.

51 Shooting Features Smar t Por t rait M ode (Captu rin g Imag es of Smi ling F aces) When the camera de tects a smiling face , you can take a picture automatically without pressing the shutter-release button (smile timer). You can use the skin softening option to smooth the skin tones of human faces.

57 Basic Shooting Settings Shooting Features Using the Self-timer The camera is equipped with a self-timer that releases the shutter ten seconds or two seconds after you press the s hutter-re lease button.
58 Basic Shooting Settings Shooting Features 4 Press t he shu tter -releas e butt on the rest of the way down. • The self-time r starts , and the num ber of seconds rem aining before the sh utter is released is displayed in the mon itor. The self- timer lamp f lashes while the timer is coun ting down.
59 Basic Shooting Settings Shooting Features Using Macro Mode When usi ng macro mod e, the came ra can focus on object s as clos e as approximately 5 cm (2.0 in.) from the front of the lens. This f eature is useful when taki ng close -up images of flower s and other sma ll subj ects .

C Auto focu s When taking still pictures in macro mode, the camera continuously adjusts the focus until the shutter-release button is pressed halfway to lock th e f ocus.

Set the image mode best suited to the manner in which images will be used and the capacity of the internal memory or memory card .
