1 About the Wireless LAN Connection Guide This guide explains the wireless LAN feat ures built into the COOLPIX S 610c to help you enjoy my Picturetown usin g the wire less LAN feat ures. Read this guide thoroughly before use, and keep it wher e all those who use t he camera will read it.

4 The Wireless LAN Features and my Picturetown The wireless LAN communication features buil t into the COOLPIX S610c ca n be used to upload pictures from the camer a to the my Picturetown server over the Inte rnet.
The Wireless LAN Features and my Picturetown 5 Picture Mail Pictures an d recip ients ar e selected and upload ed to the my Pictu retown ser ver using th e camera. E-mail notification is au tomatic ally sent to selected re cip ients, allowing these family and friend s to view your pict ures.
6 my Picturetown Setup Workflow Before taking advantage of my Picturetown serv ices using the wireless LA N features of the COOLPIX S610c, the camera’s wireless settings must be configured and you must register with my Picturetown. These two processes are ge nerally re ferred to as “setup.

8 First Steps C onfirming W ireless LAN C onnec tion Requiremen ts One of the following conditions must be met in order to use the wirele ss LAN connection features.
First Steps 9 Ready Inf ormation Requir ed f or W ireless L AN C onnection Network Profile Retrieve set tings for the wireless LA N network to which t he camera will be connect ed. This information is necessary when sett ing up the camera’s network profile ( A 17, 28).
First Steps 10 IP addres s (home wireless LAN only) This is a unique identifier assigned to communication device s on a comput er networ k. The IP address can be acquire d automatical ly with this camera.
First Steps 11 my Picturetown User Information The following information is require d to register user information and the camera ( A 20, 33, 41) with my Picturetown, and to log-in to my Picturetown ( A 51) after picture upload. E-mail address You must re gister a co mputer e-mail addres s with my Picturetown.
First Steps 12 Picture Mail Recipients The following information is re quired to upload pictures using Picture Mail. See “ o Specifying Picture Mail Recipients/Re cipient Groups” ( A 22) or “ c Specifying Picture Mail Recipients /Recip ient Grou ps” ( A 34) for more information.
13 Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings W ireless S ettings U sing the Utility The camera’s wireless settings can be config ured from a computer using the Utility (my Picturetown Utilit y).
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 14 2 Enter the computer’s administrator na me and password (Macinto sh only). Enter the compu ter’s administ rator name and passwo rd, and then click OK .
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 15 C Uninsta lling the Ut ility Windows: Select Start > All Programs > my Pi cturetown Utility > my Picturetown Uti lity Uninstall and follow t he on-s creen inst ructions to comp lete uninstallatio n.
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 16 4 Start the Utilit y. Follow th e instruc tions below to start the Util ity: Windows: Start the compute r and select St art > All Programs > my Picturetown Utility > my Picturetown Utility .
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 17 m Configuring a Network Profile Enab le conn ectio n of th e cam era to the In tern et vi a a w ireless LA N a ccess poin t. Use the Utility to apply the same networ k setti ngs used by the wireless LAN network to the camera.
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 18 4 Configure Network name (SSID) ( A 9), Authentication ( A 9), and Encryption ( A 9), and click Next . Enter the encryption key for the selected au thenticatio n method in t he En cryption key ( A 9) field and select a Key index ( A 9) option.
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 19 7 An Action completed successfull y dialog will be displayed . When sett ing up the wirele ss LAN features of the camera for the first time , choose Yes, regi ster now and cl ick Next . Proceed to “ n Entering my Pi ctureto wn User Information” ( A 20).
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 20 n Entering my Picturetown User Information Store the informati on required for my Pict uretown user registr ation with the camer a and send it to my Picturetown. This informatio n is necessary to log-in to my Pictureto wn after picture upload.
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 21 2 Check that the information is correct and click Next . The Action com pleted successf ully dialog, with options for finishing or performing another action, will be displayed, and the e-mail addr ess and nickname will be stored in the camera.
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 22 o Specifying Picture Mail Recipients/Recipient Groups Specify recipients (aliases and e-mail address e s) of e-mail notificati on sent after picture upload. Groups containing m ultiple recipients can also b e created.

Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 24 C Entering a Pass word If the camera is prot ected with a password, the pass wor d entry screen is disp layed when configuring the camera’s wireless set tings or uploading pi ctures using the wireless LAN f eatures.
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 25 q Finishing Wireless Settings Once the camera’s wirele ss settings have been confi gured, finish the Uti lity. 1 Finish the Utility. Choose Finish wizard and click Next . 2 Disconnect the camera from the computer.

Rotate the rotary multi selector, or press H , I , J , or K , to choose a cha racter or G , H , I , or J in the keyboard area.

Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 29 Configuring a Network Profile from the Camera 1 Choose Network prof ile from the Wireless settings option ( A 26) in the camera’s setup menu and press the k button. 2 Choose Configure manually and press the k button.
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 30 3 Choose the desired SSID ( A 9) and press the k button. Up to ten SSIDs, with network profile s configur ed with the camera and th ose detected by the camera, are listed .

To ente r a fixed IP addre ss, choose Manual and press the k button. Specify the IP address , Subnet mask , Gateway , Primary DNS , and Secondary DNS settings ( A 10).

Enter an e-mail address comprised of up to 64 re cognized e-mail charac ters. E-mail addresses for only certain mode ls of cell ul ar telephones, available in the United State s, are supporte d ( A 5).

This is usefu l when Picture Mail is often sent to the same group of recipients . If individual recipients ( A 34) have not been registered, register recipie nts before creating a recipient group.

Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 38 Resetting the Camera Follow the instructions below to reset all wi reless LAN connection settings, i ncluding the camera’s password, stored in the camera. Use the Reset option to delete all user information stored in the camera before transf erring it to another owner .
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 39 Configuring a Network Profile fo r a Home Wireless LAN Using WPS The network profile for a home wireles s LAN can be easily configured if the wirele ss LAN access point supports WPS.

Registerin g with my Picture town 42 3 Receive the e-mail message confir ming my Picturetown registration. An e-mail message confirming my Pi cturetown r egistration will be sent t o the registered e-m ail address.

44 Uploading Pictures to the my Picturetown Server Sending Pic ture Mail Select pictures, specify recipi ents, an d send P icture Mail. When a wireless LAN access point is unavailabl e, Picture Mail can be queued and sent at a later time. 1 Press the F button in shooting or playback mode.

51 Viewing Pictures on the my Picturetown Server Use a computer’s Web browser to access http://mypictu retown.com/ , and enter t he Email ID (e-mail address) and password registere d w ith my Picturetown to display t he My Photos page. From this page, you can up load and sort pi ctures, cr eate and share albums, and creat e slide shows.
