6 EZ-TP Owner’s Manual Setting Up Although the instrument will run either from the supplied A C adaptor or optional batteries, Y amaha recommends use of an A C adaptor whenev er possible. An AC adaptor is more en vironmentally friendly than batteries and does not deplete resources.

Controls & Features EZ-TP Owner’s Manual 9 y [-] and [+] Buttons These buttons are used to select sound and song numbers, as well as to edit parameter v alues. When some parameters are selected the [+] and [-] buttons can be pressed simultaneously to recall the default setting.

EZ-TP Owner’s Manual 11 Playing the EZ-TP When all preparations have been pr operl y made, turn on the power and try playing the EZ-TP . 1 T urn on the power . 2 Place the mouthpiece against y our lips and sing a note. This should produce a trumpet note.
Playing the EZ-TP 12 EZ-TP Owner’s Manual Finger the v alves to produce the appropriate notes while singing the melody . * The numbers in the chart are the numbers of the valv es that must be pressed to produce the cor - responding notes. “0” means that no valv es should be pressed (page 8).
Playing the EZ-TP EZ-TP Owner’s Manual 13 ● Harmonics In the chart on the previous page you can see that the same fingering – valv es 1 and 2 – is used to produce two dif ferent notes: E and A. Real trumpets function in the same way , allowing you to produce more than one note with each fingering.
Playing the EZ-TP 14 EZ-TP Owner’s Manual Select the “0” or “1” setting to match the EZ-TP to the pitch of your voice. There is generally a dif ference of about 1 octav e between male and female v oices.

Rotate the control clockwise to make it easier for quiet voices to produce sound. If you rotate the control counter-clockwise a louder v oice will be required to pro- duce sound.
Playing the EZ-TP 16 EZ-TP Owner’s Manual The EZ-TP has a range of 22 dif ferent sounds. Y ou can play using trumpet sounds, or a v ariety of completely dif ferent sounds. 1 Press the button so that the upper indicator lights. 2 Press the [SOUND] button.
Playing the EZ-TP EZ-TP Owner’s Manual 17 The default pitch of the EZ-TP is B b – the same as most trumpets. This means that if you play a “C” on a piano-pitch score using the EZ-TP , the note produced will be dif ferent from the same note played on the piano.

Playing the EZ-TP EZ-TP Owner’s Manual 19 The tuning of the sound you play on the EZ-TP can be adjusted from A = 425 Hz to 453 Hz in 1-Hz increments. Use this feature when you want to tune the EZ-TP to other instruments. 1 Press the button so that the lo wer indicator lights.
20 EZ-TP Owner’s Manual Playing Songs The EZ-TP features a selection of 10 songs that are ideal f or trumpet per- formance. Y ou can use the songs as accompaniment for y our own perf or- mance, as described on page 22, but here we’ll describe ho w to select and play the songs.
Playing Songs EZ-TP Owner’s Manual 21 3 Use the [-]/[+] buttons to select the song y ou want to listen to. Select a song from the song list provided belo w . 4 Press the [DEMO] button. Playback of the selected song will begin. 5 Press the [DEMO] button a gain to stop pla yback.
22 EZ-TP Owner’s Manual Play With Song Accompaniment Select a song and then press one of the PLA Y MODE buttons to select the play mode. The song will play without the melod y (accompaniment only) so that y ou can play the melod y y ourself .
Play With Song Accompaniment EZ-TP Owner’s Manual 23 In this mode you can play the melody by playing the appropriate valv e fingerings in time with the song. There is no need to sing the melody in this mode. The guide lamps will sho w you which valv es to press to finger each note.

MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is a world-standard interf ace for com- munication between electronic musical instruments and music devices.
