35 s 3 Check th e number o f exposures rema ining. The exposur e count disp lays in t he contr ol panel and view fin der sh ow the numb er of ph otogr aph s that can be stor ed on the memory card.

37 s Step 4: Fr am e the Photograph 1 Ready the cam era. When f raming photog raphs in the viewfi nder , hold t h e handgrip in your right hand and cradle the camera bo dy or lens with your left. Keep yo ur elbows pr opped lightly against your torso for support and pl a ce on e f oot half a pace ahe ad of the o ther to keep your u pper body stable.
38 s Step 5 : F o cu s 1 Press the shutter-releas e button ha lfway . Pr ess the shutter -release butt on halfway to focus . The camera will select the f o cus points automatically . If the subj ect is poorly l it, the flash may pop up and th e AF-assi st illumi nator may light.
39 s Step 6: Shoot Smoothly press the shut ter-relea se button the rest of the w ay do w n to r elease the shu t ter and r ecord the phot ograph . The access lamp nex t to the memo r y car d slot cover w ill light . Do not eject the memor y card or remove or disconnect the power source until the lamp has gone ou t and recording i s complete .

41 s Creative Photo graphy (S cene M od es) The camera offers a choice of six “scene ” modes. Sele cting a p rog ram autom atical ly optimi zes settin gs to suit the selected scene , making creative photography as easy as rotating t he mode dial. 42 s n Close Up Use f or close-up shots of flow ers , insects, an d other small objec ts (a m acro lens can be used to focus at ver y close ranges). The ca mera auto matical ly focuses on t he sub jec t in the cent er focu s point. Use of a t r ipod is recommended t o prevent blur .
43 s F raming P ictures in the Monitor (Live V i ew) Pr ess the a butto n to fram e pic tures in the monitor. 1 Pr ess th e a button . The mi r ror w ill be r a ised and the view through the lens will be displayed in the camera monitor . The subject will no longer be visible i n the viewfinder .
