W elcome to Nike + iP od Y our Personal Workout Assistan t Nike + iPod is a w orkout par tner and coach all in one. S elect the type of workout you want—open-ended , distance, time, or calorie-burning—choose music to keep you motivated , and then keep track of your progress ev er y step of the way with s poken and onscreen feedback.
Quick Start Follo w these instructions to get started using Nike + i P od right away . Step 1: Enable Nike + iPod on y our iP od. iPod nano: m Attach the Nike + iP od receiver to iP od nano. Nike + iPod appears as an option on the main menu. iPod touch: m Choose Settings > Nike + iPod and set it to On.
Step 3: Inser t the Nike + iP od Sensor in your Nike+ ready shoe. Lift the insole of the left shoe, remove the foam insert from the pocket underneath, m and replace it with the sensor . Lift the insole and place the sensor in the pocket , flat side up.
Step 4: Choose a type of workout. T o choose Do this An open-ended workout iPod nano: Choose Nik e + iPod > New Workout > Basic. iPod touch: Choose Nike + i P od > Basic. A workout with a time goal iPod nano: Choose Nik e + iPod > New Workout > Time.
Step 5: Choose music to accompany your w orkout. T o play Do this A Nike+ Workout mix Choose the mix (see page 1 8). The currently pla ying song Choose Now Playing . Songs from a playlist Choose Playlists and choose a playlist. Songs in random order Choose Shue Songs.
Step 7: Monitor your progress. Nike + iPod a utomatically displays y our workout status on the iP od screen. iPod nano iPod t ouch P eriodically , Nike + iP od also gives you spoken feedback on y our progress (see “Getting Spoken Feedback” on page 1 4).
T o end your workout: iPod nano: m Press the P lay/P ause ( ’ ) button to pa use your workout. Then press the Menu button and choose End Workout. iPod touch: m Press E nd W orkout. If iP od touch is locked, press the Home button and tap P ause. Then drag the slider t o unlock iPod t ouch, and tap End Workout.
When your iP od isn ’t connected to your computer , you can go to www.nikeplus.com and enter your L ogin ID and password. See the nikeplus.com website for Nike ’ s privacy policy and terms and conditions. Using Nike + iP od Follo w these instructions to get the most out of Nike + iPod .
5 iPod nano: Press the Menu button and choose Done Calibrating . iPod touch: T ap End W orkout, and tap Done . A message tells you if the calibration w as successful. 6 Repeat steps 1–4, choosing Walk in step 2 and walking at a steady , natural pace in step 4.
Setting the Units of Distance Y ou can set Nike + iPod to measure y our workouts in either miles or kilometers. T o set the units of distance: iPod nano: m Choose Nike + iPod > Settings , and set Distanc es to Miles or Kilometers. iPod touch: m Choose Settings > Nike + iP od > Distances, then choose Miles or Kilometers.
T o set the voice type or turn spoken feedback o : iPod nano: m Choose Nike + iPod > Settings and set Spoken F eedback to Male, F emale, or O . iPod touch: m Choose Settings > Nike + iPod > Spoken F eedback, then choose Male, F emale, or O .
P ausing a Workout Y ou can pause your workout at any time , temporarily stopping music and data collection, and resume the workout later without losing any da ta. T o pause or resume a workout: iPod nano: m Press the P lay/P ause ( ’ ) button. iPod touch: m T ap Pause .
T o review recent w orkouts on your iP od: iPod nano: m Choose Nike + iPod > History . iPod touch: m Choose Nike + iPod , then tap History at the bottom of the screen. T o erase a single workout session: 1 Choose Nike + iPod > Hist or y and choose a workout session.
1 8 T o choose a custom workout shortcut on your iP od: iPod nano: m Choose Nike + iPod and choose a shortcut. Shortcuts are named according to the type of workout and music. They can ’t be deleted . iPod touch: m Choose Nike + iPod and tap My Workouts.
19 T o link to a remote: 1 Connect the receiver to an iP od nano. 2 Choose Nike + iPod > Settings > Remote > Link, and follow the onscreen instructions. T o turn remote functionality on or o for iPod n ano: Choose Nike + iPod > Settings > Remote , and set Remote to On or O .
20 3 iP od nano: Choose Nike + iPod > Settings > Sensor > Link and follow the onscreen instructions. A message says iP od is now link ed to the new sensor . iPod touch: Choose Settings > Nike + i P od > Sensor , tap Link New , and follo w the onscreen instructions.
