2 Getting St ar t ed The NET GE AR WiFi Range Ext ender incre ases the distanc e of a WiFi network by boosting the e xisting WiFi signal and enhancing the over all signal quality over long distanc es. An ext ender repe ats the signals fr om an existing WiF i rout er or ac cess point.

6 Install the WiFi Extender Place the e xtender , apply pow er , and connect it to your WiFi ne twork . Place the Extender and Apply P ower 1. Place your e xtender in the same r oom as your WiFi rout er . Pr oximity to the WiFi r out er is requir ed only during the initial setup pr ocess.
7 Connect with WPS Wi-Fi Pr otected Se tup (WPS) lets you join a secure WiFi ne twork without typing the network name and passwor d. N ote: WPS does not support WEP network security . If you ar e using WEP security, f ollow the instructions in Connect with Web Br owser Setup on page 9 .
8 4. Connect your comput er or WiFi devices t o the new ext ended WiFi network. Use the same WiFi passwor d that you use for your WiFi r outer . 5. Unplug the ext ender and move it to a new loc ation closer to the ar ea with a poor WiFi signal. The location that you choose must be within the r ange of your existing WiF i rout er netw ork .
9 Connect with W eb Browser Setup 1. Use a WiFi network manager on a c omput er or WiFi device t o find and connect to the NET GEAR_E XT (S SID) WiFi network. Aer the c onnection with the computer or WiF i device is est ablished, the Client Link LED lights.
10 3. Select a WiFi network to e xtend and click the Continue butt on. The f ollowing scr een displays : 4. T ype the netw ork passwor d (also called passphr ase or security key) in the P asswor d field and click the Continue button.
11 5. In the Name field, type the name (SSID) f or your new ext ender WiFi network and click the Continue butt on. Y ou can use the same security settings as the settings f or your existing ne twork by selecting the check box . The settings ar e applied and the f ollowing scr een displays.
12 7. If the scr een is still displayed on your comput er or WiFi devic e, select the check box at the bo ttom of the scr een and click the Continue button. A message displays confirming that the e xtender is c onnected to the WiFi network. 8. Click the Finish butt on.
13 Find the Best L ocation If the WiFi signal is w eak, the first time you join the ext ender network, an arr ow LED blinks f or two minut es. If this happens, adjust the position of the ext ender . • If the Rout er Arr ow LED blinks, move the ext ender closer to the r outer .
14 Connec t an Ethernet-Enabled Devic e Aer the e xtender is c onnected to your e xisting WiFi netw ork, you can connect a wir ed device t o the ext ender using an Ethernet cable. That device c an then acc ess your exis ting network thr ough the WiFi c onnec tion.
15 Log In t o Access Ex t ender Settings Aer ins tallation, you can log in t o the ext ender to view or change the ext ender ’ s settings. 1. Use a WiFi network manager on a c omput er or WiFi device t o find and connect to the new e xtended WiFi ne twork .
