Install the WG602 54 Mbps Wireless Access P oint Please follow these steps to successfully install the WG602 Wireless A ccess P oint. N ote: W e suggest you first install the WG602 with the default settings. O ptionally , you can then customize your settings and enable encryption if it is required.
N ote: There is no space required between “ netgear ” and the 6 digits of the access point name. Once you have enter ed your access point name, your web bro wser should automatically find the W G602 Access P oint and display the W G602 home page, as shown abo ve.
Setup Options IP Settings Log in to the Access P oint Setup T o setup your access point, complete the following login steps: 1. Click the Setup options on the WG602 Information page. 2. The Enter N etwork P assword window will be displayed, as shown abo ve.
Security Settings N ote: If the W G602 cannot locate a DHCP ser ver upon powering up, it will default to the IP address of 192.168.0.227 . If you ar e not sure of the IP address of the WG602, r estore the default IP address by pr essing the Restore to F actor y Settings button located on the W G602 back panel for at least five seconds.
Management Options Change Passw ord 1. T o change the current password, choose the P assword option from the AP Setup menu in the W G602 W eb Server home page. The default password is "password." 2. Change your password. Click A pply for the new password to take effect.
Restore F actory Default Settings Y ou may click on the Restor e F actory Default Settings button to revert to default factory settings. Station List The Station List windo w displays the assigned ID, MA C address, device name, and the current state of the clients that are currently connected to the access point.
3. Choose your authentication method. T o set authentication for W G602 Wir eless Access P oint, select the Open System or Shar ed Key A uthentication T yp e by selecting the radio button. All other devices using this band must share this setting. Shar ed Key operation offers an increase in security o ver an Open System operation.
• Authentication : The authentication setting, Open System or Shar ed Key is unrelated to encryption of transmissions. Choose Shared Key for mor e security . Authentication T ype (circle one): Open System or Shar ed Key N ote: If you select Shar ed Key , the other devices in the network will not connect unless they are set to Shar ed Key as well.
T roub leshooting Conf igure WEP Encryption F ollow these steps to configure WEP encryption. 1. F rom the W indows desktop , follow the instructions provided in Configuring y our WG602 54 Mbps Wir eless Access P oint on page 7 to go to the Security window .
