2 Before Y ou Begin (DSL Connection) If you are connecting to a DSL line, make sure that your DSL service is active before you inst all the modem router . Y ou need the information listed here to install your DSL mod em and connect to the Internet. Locate it an d have it on hand before you st art the installation procedu re.

4 3. Use an ADSL microfilter for every phone line in the house if your modem router and telephone conne ct to the same phone line. Plugs into the ADSL line T o connect to a cable/fiber modem: 1. Connect one end of the yellow Et he rnet cable to the W AN port on the router.
5 P ower on Y our Router T o power on your router: 1. Connect the power adap ter to the router , and plug the power a dapter into an outlet. 2. W ait until the WiF i LED turns solid blue.
6 Connect a Computer Y ou can use an Ethernet cable or connect wirelessly . • Use an Ethernet cable (not provid ed) to co nnect your computer to an Etherne t port on you r router . • Or connect wirelessly by using the preset wireless security settings on the label o n the bottom of the router .
7 Open a W eb Browser T o display the NETGEAR genie inst allation wizard: 1. Open a web browser . The NETGEAR genie installa tion wizard displays . If you do not see the genie screen , close and reopen the browser , and enter http://routerlogin.ne t in the address bar .
8 P reset Wireless Security This product has a unique WiFi net work name (SSID) and ne twork key (password). The default SSID and p assword are uniquely generated for eve ry device, like a serial number , to protect and maximize your wireless security .

11 Access the R outer to Make Changes After you use genie to set up the mode m router, you can log in to the modem router to view or change it s settings. T o log in to the modem router: 1. Launch a web browse r from a compu ter or wireless de vice that is co nnected to the modem route r.
