Chapter 2 – Hardware Installation 8 5. Locate the unused PCI slot you will be using for your ISI Card and remove the slot cover a ccording to instructions in your c o mpu te r' s 6. Install the ISI Card into the selected expansion sl ot in the same manner as any other add-on card, as instructed in your computer’s documentation.
Chapter 3 – Software Installation 9 Chapter 3—Software Installation Introduction The ISI Cards ship with drivers and software fo r each of the following operating systems: Windows Server ® 2008, Windows ® Vista, XP, 2003, 2000 Server, 2000 Ad van ce d Se rv er , and Linux.
Chapter 3 – Software Installation 10 Driver Installation for Windows Server 2008 and Vista The following driver install ation pro cedure is based on Windows Server 2008 64-bit Operating System. The procedure may vary slightly for the Windows Server 2008 32-bit Operatin g System and Vista.
Chapter 3 – Software Installation 11 5. The next screen pro mpts y ou to Insert the disc that came with your PCI Serial Port . If you have the disc that came with your card, insert it now. Click Next . Windows may prompt you to search online, but this is not necessary.
Chapter 3 – Software Installation 12 8. When the soft w are for this dev ice has been successfully installed screen ap pears, Windows has finished installing the driver software for this device: Multi-Tech ISI 5634UPCI/ISI9234PCIE 8 Port Analog Modem Card.
Chapter 3 – Software Installation 13 10. The Found New Hardware – Multifunction Devi ce scr een appears. If you have the disc that came with your device, insert it now. The ISI Card CD is still in the CD ROM drive. Click Next . 11. Searching disc for software…screen app ears.

Similarly, for the ISI1- 8, t he in sta llati on w izar d mus t in stal l eig ht Multifunction Devices under Other Devices.
Chapter 3 – Software Installation 18 Delete Modem Drivers. 1. Go to Control Panel I System. Go to the Hardware tab and click on Device Manager. The Device Manager list will appear. 2. Click on Modems to expand the list. 3. Select one of the modem drivers bein g u sed with the ISI Card.
Chapter 3 – Software Installation 19 4. At the Confirm Device Re m ov al screen, click OK . 5. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for e ach a dditional modem driver to be removed. Delete COM Ports. 1. Go to Control Panel I System. Go to the Hardware tab and click on Device Manager.
Chapter 3 – Software Installation 20 4. Right-click on the first port to be deleted (the order of removal is not important) and select "Uninstall." 5. At the Confirm Device Rem ov al screen, click OK . 6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for e ach a dditional ISI COM port to be removed.
Chapter 3 – Software Installation 21 Delete ISI Card Driver. 1. Go to Control Panel I System. Go to the Hardware tab and click on Device Manager. The Device Manager list will appear.
Chapter 3 – Software Installation 22 Driver Installation for Windows XP/2003/2000 The following driver install ation pro cedure is based Windo ws XP 32-bit Operating System. The procedure m ay vary slightly for the Windows 2003 and 200 0 Operating Systems.
Chapter 3 – Software Installation 23 4. Please choose y our search and installation options screen appears. Select Include this location in the search: and Click Browse. Bro wse to the Dri vers folder on your ISI product CD, then select the Drivers folder and then the Win2k-XP-2003 folder, then the Win32bit-2k-XP-2003 folder.
Chapter 3 – Software Installation 24 7. Please w ait while the w izard installs the soft w a r e.. screen appears. 8. A completing the Found Ne w Hard ware Wizard screen appears. Click Finish. Port and Modem Installation Immediately after the ISI Card driver installation has been completed, another set of inst allation wizard screens will appear.

Chapter 3 – Software Installation 26 3. Please choose y our search and installation options screen appears. Select Include this location in the search:. C lick Browse. This may al ready be p opulated with the correct path from the first wizard; in t hat case simply click Next and skip step 5.

Chapter 3 – Software Installation 28 2. The Found New Hardware Wizard screen appears with Multi-Te ch Systems MT9234SMI. Click on Install from a list or specific location (Adv anced) . Then click Next . 3. At each Found Ne w Hard ware Wizard —Please choose your searc h screen , select "Include this location .
Chapter 3 – Software Installation 29 6. Transient screens will appear wh ile files are being copied. 7. For each p ort , a completion screen will appear. Click Finish. This wizard screen sequence will be repeated for e ach m o dem, four t ime s fo r th e ISI -4 a nd ei ght t imes for the ISI-8.
Chapter 3 – Software Installation 30 Un-Installing ISI Drivers C o n d u c t t he u n - i n s t a l l a t i o n i n t h i s o r d e r : r e m o v e t he m o d e m s asso ciate d with the ISI Card first, then the ports, and, finally, th e I S I d r iv e r .
Chapter 3 – Software Installation 31 3. Select one of the modem d rivers bein g u sed with the ISI Card. The modem drivers are designated "MultiTech systems MT9234SMI" (followed by numbe r desig nations for all mo de ms e xc ep t th e fi rs t, # 2, #3 , et c.
Chapter 3 – Software Installation 32 Delete COM Ports. 1. Go to Control Panel I System. Go to the Hardware tab and click on Device Manager. The Device Manager list will appear. 2. Click on Port s (COM & LP T) to expand the list. 3. Select one of the COM p ort s being used with the ISI Card.
Chapter 3 – Software Installation 33 5. At the Confirm Dev ice Removal screen, click OK . 6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for e ach additional ISI COM port to be removed. Delete ISI Card Driver. 2. Go to Control Panel I System. Go to the Hardware tab and click on Device Manager.

Chapter 3 – Software Installation 36 Creating Linux TTY Device Names 1. This driver retains the standard serial de vice properties: dial-in port fil e s (named i n the f orm "ttyM Uxy"), and call-out port files (named in t he fo rm " cu mx y" ).
