5 SECTION 4: CONTENTS OF H ARDWARE PACK Lay out the ha rdware accord ing to the illus tration for iden tificatio n purpos es. Pa rt num bers are shown i n parenth eses. ( Hardware pack may c ontai n extra item s whic h are no t used on y our uni t.) NOTE: The auger s are sec ured to th e spiral s haft with tw o shear bolts and hex loc k nuts.

7 3. Thread hex nut onto t he “Z” fitting an d insert curved end of the Z fi tting in to the top hole in the triangul ar metal tab on the aug er contr ol grip. See Fi gure 4. Figure 4 4. Place th e auger c ontrol g rip on to p of the left handle. T he trian gular metal tab must b e between the handl e and the grip bracket.

9 A TT A CHING THE TRA CK CONTRO LS (Hardware F) 1. Remove th e screw fr om the top of the r ight han d track cont rol. Be ca reful not to lose th e flat weld nut that is inside the contr ol. 2. Place the right track control i n positio n undernea th the ri ght handle .
10 Figure 15 FINAL ADJUSTMENTS A ug er Dri ve Clutch To chec k the adj ustment of the auger driv e clut ch, push forward on the left hand clutch grip (depre ss the r ubber b umper). There sh ould be slack in t he cable. Rel ease the cl utch grip. T he cable shou ld be straig ht.
11 SECTION 6: CONTROLS Figure 17 SHIF T LEVER (See Figu re 17) The shift le ver is l ocated in the center of the handl e panel. T he shift lever may be mov ed into one of eight pos ition s. Run engi ne wit h throttle in the fast positio n. Use the s hift lev er to determi ne groun d speed.

Read instruc tions carefully . WARN ING: Nev er fi ll fuel ta nk indoo rs, with en gine r unning o r while e ngine is hot.
13 Recoil Starte r (Optional Instruc t ions): With engin e running , pull sta rter rope with a rapid, continu ous full arm s troke th ree or four ti mes. Pullin g the starter rope w ill pr oduce a lou d cl attering sound, which is not harm ful to the e ngine or starter .

15 GEAR CASE The gear case is lu bricate d with grea se at th e factory an d does not requ ire che cking. If disass embled fo r any re ason, re lubric ate with 2 ounces (do N OT ov erfill) of She ll Alv ania g rease EPR00, pa rt number 7 37-0168. B efore reassemb ling, remove o ld seala nt and apply “ Loctite 5699 ” or e quiva lent.
16 DRIVE BEL T 1. Follow st eps 1 through 4 of prev ious instruc tions. 2. Pull id ler pulley u p, and lift b elt off engin e pulley and fric tion wheel disc. See Figur e 23. 3. Back ou t the s top bolt un til the support bracke t rests o n the auger pulley .
