5 SECTION 2: CONTENTS OF HARDWARE PACK Lay out the har dware ac cording to the illus tration for identifi cation pur pose s. Part num bers are sho wn in parenthe ses. (Hardware pack may contain extra i tems whic h are not used on y our unit .) NOTE: The auger s are s ecured to the spir al sh aft with two sh ear b olts and hex lock nuts.

7 Attaching Chu te Direct ional Contro l (Hardwar e C) • Thread one hex nut about hal fway onto ey e bolt on the chute di rectio nal co ntrol. Inser t eye bolt t hrough the hole pro vided in the left handle. S ee Figure 4. • Secure wit h cupped washer (cup ped sid e against the handle) and other hex nut .

9 IMPORT ANT: It is NOT reco mmende d that this sn ow thrower be oper ated on a gra vel surfa ce, as loose stones ca n be easi ly pick ed up and throw n by the machine . If you must operat e on a gravel surfa ce, ALWAYS adjust the s kid shoes into the HIGH positio n to allow the sh ave pla te maximum clearan ce.
10 Fig ure 12 Shif t Lever The shif t lever is loc ated in the cen ter of the handle panel and is used to deter mine both gr ound sp eed and directi on of trave l. It can be move d into any of eight position s. See Figur e 12. Forward Your s now throw er ha s six forwa rd (F) speeds.
11 T rack Lock Lever The track l ock leve r is loca ted on the r ight side of th e snow throwe r and is us ed to select the position of the auger hou sing and the method o f track oper ation. Mov e the leve r to the r ight, the n forward or backwa rd to one of the three pos itions.

13 SECTION 6: MAKING ADJUSTMENT WARNING: NEVER attempt to make any adjustments while the e ngine is running, excep t where spe cified in t he operat or ’ s manual. Auger Control Adjustm ent Refer to the infor matio n found under Fina l Adjust- ments i n the Ass embly Sec tion t o adjust the aug er control.
14 • Place the shift lever into the sixth (6) po sition. • Rotate th e shift arm c lockwise (from th e ope rator ’ s position ) as far as it will go . • Thread the upper shift rod downwar d until the elbow on its lower end aligns with the hole fo und in the lower shif t rod.
15 Gear Ca se The gear cas e is lubr icated with grease at the fa ctory and does not require check ing. If disass embled fo r an y reason, lubricate with 2 ounces of Shell Al vania grease EPR00, p art num ber 737-0168 . Befor e reassem bling, remove ol d sealant an d apply new s ealant.
16 • Unhook the idler spri ng from the hex bol t on the auger hous ing. See F igure 21. • Back ou t the stop bolt un til the suppo rt bracket rests on the auger pulley. NOTE: Loos ening th e six n uts that conne ct the fr ame to the auger hou sing m ay aid in bel t remov al.
