3 SECTION 1: IMPORTANT SAFE OPERATION PRACTICES WARNING: This symbol points out important safety in structions which, if not followed, could endanger the person al safety and/or pro perty of yourse lf and others. 4 7. Never operate the machine at high transport speeds on hard or slippery surfaces. 8. Exercise caution to avoid slipping or falling. 9. Look down and behind and use care when in reverse or pulling machine towards you. 10. Start the engine according to the instructions found in this manual and keep feet well away from the tines at all times.
5 SECTION 2: ASSEMBLING YOUR TILLER NOTE: References to right or le ft side of the tiller are determined from be hind the unit in the op erating position. T o Remove Unit From Carton • Remove stap les, break glue on top flaps, or cut tape at carton en d and peel along to p flap to open carton.
6 • Push the cabl e through the ho le in the center of the handle and snap in t he plastic fitting. See Figure 3. Figure 3 • Remove slot head screw, nut, and two flat washers from the c lutch bail. See Figure 4. • Fasten the th readed eyebolt onto ba il by securing from top with slot head screw, flat washers and lock nut.
7 NOTE: A secondary cable adjustment is available if you reach the point t hat additional a djustment is needed. Remove the b elt cover and move the hex nut s at the other end of the cable to wards the end of the casing. Then r eadjust the hex n uts at the handle.
8 To shift into forward whee ls and tine drive, push forward slightly on t he gear selection h andle and slowly engage the clutch cont rol allowing the gears to synchronize. To stop forward movemen t and tine dr ive, release the clutch control. Do not shift gears wit h the clutch control eng aged except when engaging the tines.
9 T o Stop Engine • Move throttle con trol to STOP or OFF position. • Disconnect spa rk plug wire and ground to pr event accidentally starti ng while equipment is unattended . NOTE: After the fir st ten hours o f operation, recheck the clutch a djustment.
10 SECTION 5: MAKING ADJUSTMENTS WARNING: Never attempt t o make any adjustments while the eng ine is running, except where spec ified in ope rator’s manual. Handle Adjustment The handle h eight may be adju sted to the desired height. Refer to the ha ndle adjustment in Know Your Tiller section.
11 Wheel Shafts Remove wheel assemblies and lubricate th e axle shafts at least on ce a seas on. Cleaning Tine Ar ea Clean the underside of the tine shield afte r each use. The dirt wa shes off th e tines easie r if rinsed off immediately instead of after it dries.
