MPC User M anual Rev 0D 81 Appe ndix B GPS Overview The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite navigation system capable of providing a highly accurate, continuous global navigation service independent of other positioning aids. GPS provides 24-hour, all-weather, worldwid e cove rage with position, velocity and timing info rmati on.
82 MPC User Manua l Rev 0D Appen dix B GPS O verview receiver with at least six satellites in view from any point on earth, at any particular time. The GPS satellite signal identif ies th e satellite .

84 MPC User Manua l Rev 0D Appen dix B GPS O verview hairs, the centre of the shad ed area is the "location" of the mean estimate, and the radius of the s haded area is a measure of the u ncertain ty contained in the estimate. Figure 81: Accurac y versus Pr ecision 1 B.
GPS O verview Appen dix B MPC Use r Manual Rev 0D 85 positioning requires eith er a data link between the two stations (if the positioning is to be achiev ed in real-time) or else p ost-processing of t he data collected by the remote station. At least four GPS satellites in view are still required.
86 MPC User Manua l Rev 0D Appen dix B GPS O verview B.4 Differential Positi oning There are t wo types of dif ferential pos itioning algorithms : pseudorange and ca rr i e r pha se .
GPS O verview Appen dix B MPC Use r Manual Rev 0D 87 B.5 Pseud orang e Algorithms Pseudor ange algorithms correlate the pseud orandom code on t he GPS sign al received from a particular satellite, with a version generated within the reference station receiver itsel f.
88 MPC User Manua l Rev 0D Appen dix B GPS O verview effectively cancel the receiver clock offset bi as. Thus, in single-point positioning, receiver clock of fset is not a si gnificant pr oblem. However , in pseudo range dif ferential operation, between-receive r clock of fset is a source of un correlated bias.

GPS O verview Appen dix B MPC Use r Manual Rev 0D 91 B.5.2 Dual S t ation Differential Positioning It is the objective of operating in differential mode to either eliminate or gr eatly reduce most of the errors intro duced by the above types of system biases.
92 MPC User Manua l Rev 0D Appen dix B GPS O verview B.5.2.1 The Re ference Station The nucleus of th e differen tial network is the refer en ce station. T o function as a reference station, the GPS receiver antenna must be positi oned at a contro l point whose pos ition is precisely known in the GPS reference frame.

OM-20000 072 Rev 0D 2002/03 /27.
An important point after buying a device MPC OM-20000072 (or even before the purchase) is to read its user manual. We should do this for several simple reasons:
If you have not bought MPC OM-20000072 yet, this is a good time to familiarize yourself with the basic data on the product. First of all view first pages of the manual, you can find above. You should find there the most important technical data MPC OM-20000072 - thus you can check whether the hardware meets your expectations. When delving into next pages of the user manual, MPC OM-20000072 you will learn all the available features of the product, as well as information on its operation. The information that you get MPC OM-20000072 will certainly help you make a decision on the purchase.
