1 1 Chapter 1 Introduction The UPort 1100 Series of USB-to-serial ad aptors provide an easy way to add COM ports to your computer. The U Port 1110 prov ides one RS-232 po rt, the UPort 113 0 provides on e RS-422/RS-485 port, and the UPort 1150 and UPor t 1150I each prov ide one RS-232/4 22/485 port.
UPort 1100 Series User’ s Manual Introduction 1-2 Overview The UPort 1110, UPort 1130, and UPort 1150/11 50I are part of Moxa’s UPort lin e of USB-to-serial adaptors. The UPort line provides a r ange of easy-to-use solutions for adding COM ports through a PC’s USB port.

UPort 1100 Series User’ s Manual Introduction 1-6 ATTENTION Do not use the 1 K Ω setting on the UPort when using the RS-232 interface. Do ing so will degrade the RS -232 signals an d shorten t he maximum allowed communi cation distance.
2 2 Chapter 2 Installation and Configuration Installation of the adaptor is a simple process. Fi rst i nstall the driver, then plug the ad aptor into a USB port. When the adaptor is plugged in, Window s will load the correct d rivers for the adaptor and the new COM port.

You may also download the drivers at www.moxa.c om . The installation procedure is the same for all Windows operating system s.

A window will pop up cautioning you that this software has not passed Windows logo testin g. This is a standard warning, and Mox a has thoroughly tested the dr iver for safe Windows operation.

On Windows 2000 systems, a window will pop up cautioning you that this s oftware ha s not passed Windows logo test ing. If you see the following screen, select No, not this time , then click Next . 3. On the next wi ndow that appears, select Install the softwar e automatically (Recomme nded) , then click Next .

UPort 1100 Series User’ s Manual Installation and Configuration 2-11 Configuring the Adaptor If you need to change t he COM number that the a d aptor assigns to the COM port, or ad just other advanced settings, you may go to Dev ice Manager and right-click the UPort adaptor, which will be listed under Multi-port serial adaptors .
UPort 1100 Series User’ s Manual Installation and Configuration 2-12 In the Port Configuration tab, you will see the new COM port listed. Click Port Settin g to modify t he COM num ber and other parameters.
UPort 1100 Series User’ s Manual Installation and Configuration 2-13 ATTENTION Before modi fying these sett ings, make sure that you have closed any ap plications that may be accessing the COM port, such as Hy perTerminal. You may chan ge the Port N umber and ena ble or disa ble the Fast Fl ush function.
UPort 1100 Series User’ s Manual Installation and Configuration 2-14 Removing the Adaptor The adaptor is a plug and play device. No special pr ocedures are re quired to remove the adapt or; you may simply pull the ad aptor out of the USB port. You should verify that no data is being transmitted be fore rem oving the a daptor.
