5 HELPFUL HINTS Delay Timer Start Menu Steam Slow Cook Keep Warm White Oatmeal Brown Soup Cake STS™ 4 1 3 2 TO COOK RICE NOTE Using the provided measuring cup, add rice to the inner cooking pot. Place the inner cooking pot into the rice cooker . Fill with water to the line which matches the number of cups of rice being cooked.
6 NOTE • Brown rice r equires a longer cooking cycle than white rice due to the extra bran layers on the grain. If it appears the rice cooker is not immediately cooking this is due to the a low-heat soak cycle that precedes cooking to pr oduce ufer grains.
7 TO COOK RICE (CONT .) 9 Press the ST AR T button to begin cooking the rice. The digital display will show a “chasing” pattern and the indicator light will become solid to indicate that it is cooking.
8 RICE/W A TER MEASUREMENT T ABLE HELPFUL HINTS • Rinse rice before placing it into the inner pot to r emove excess bran and starch. This will help r educe browning and sticking to the bottom of the pot. • W ant perfect brown rice without the wait? Use the “Delay Timer .
9 TO USE THE DELA Y TIMER 11 8 10 9 Press the DELA Y TIMER button. Each press incr eases in one hour increments. It may be set 1 to 15 hours in advance. Once the rice begins cooking, the digital display will show a “chasing” pattern. Press the ST ART button to set the delayed time.
10 Once rice is nished, the rice cooker will beep and automatically switch to “Keep-W arm.” The digital display will show the number of hours the rice cooker has been on “Keep-W arm,” beginning with “0.
11 TO SLOW COOK Delay Timer Start Menu Steam Slow Cook Keep Warm White Oatmeal Brown Soup Cake STS™ 4 6 1 3 5 2 Add food to be slow cooked to the inner cooking pot. Connect the power cord to the rice cooker and plug into an available outlet. Press the SLOW COOK button.
12 TO SLOW COOK (CONT .) Press the ST ART button to begin slow cooking at the selected time. The digital display will show the remaining cooking time and the button’ s indicator light will become solid to indicate that it is cooking.
13 TO STEAM Using the provided measuring cup, add 3 cups water to the inner cooking pot. Place the steam tray into the rice cooker . Place food to be steamed onto the steam tray .
14 TO STEAM (CONT .) Connect the power cord to the rice cooker and plug into an available outlet. Press the POWER/KEEP-W ARM button to turn the rice cooker on. 7 Press the STEAM button. The digital display will show a ashing 5 to repr esent ve minutes of steam time.
15 TO STEAM (CONT .) When nished serving, turn the rice cooker off by pr essing the POWER/ KEEP WARM button once to change it from its “Keep-W arm” setting and then press and hold again until the rice cooker powers off. 14 Check steamed food for doneness.
16 Place food to be steamed onto the steam tray . Close the lid securely . Place steam tray into the rice cooker . Using caution to avoid escaping steam, open the lid.
17 If food is nished steaming, carefully remove the steam tray . It will be hot. Allow the rice cooker to continue cooking rice. 16 Once the selected time has passed, the rice cooker will beep and switch to “Keep-W arm” mode. The digital display will show the number of hours the rice cooker has been on “Keep-W arm,” beginning with “0.

19 • Do not use the provided serving spatula to sauté. It is not intended to be used in contact with high temperatures. Use a long-handled wooden or heat-safe spoon to stir food while sautéing. CAUTION X Add ingredients to be sautéed/ browned to the inner cooking pot.
20 TO USE SAUTÉ-THEN-SIMMER ™ (CONT .) After a few minutes, the rice cooker will automatically switch to its “Simmer” mode. The rice cooker will countdown the nal minutes of cook time starting at 12 minutes. 9 Once the meal has cooked, the rice cooker will beep and automatically switch over to “Keep-W arm.
21 • The “Soup” function is a programmed cooking setting that operates for 120 minutes before switching to the “Keep-W arm” setting. • Before placing the inner cooking pot into the rice cooker , check that the cooking pot is dry and free of debris.
22 Press the MENU button to cycle to the “Soup” function. The indicator light will conrm which function is selected. Press the ST ART button to begin cooking on the selected function. The digital display will show a “chasing” pattern and the indicator light will become solid to indicate that it is cooking.
23 Connect the power cord to the rice cooker and plug into an available outlet. 4 Follow packaging instructions for suggested oatmeal/water ratio, add oatmeal and water to the inner cooking pot. Close the lid securely . Place the inner cooking pot into the rice cooker .
24 Press the MENU button to cycle to the “Oatmeal” function. The indicator light will conrm which function is selected. Press the ST ART button to begin cooking on the selected function. The digital display will show a “chasing” pattern and the indicator light will become solid to indicate that it is cooking.
25 Connect the power cord to the rice cooker and plug into an available outlet. 4 Follow instructions on cake mix packaging or recipe to mix liquid ingredients and cake mix. Add cake mix into the inner pot. Close the lid securely . Place the inner cooking pot into the rice cooker .
26 Press the ST ART button to begin cooking on the selected function. The digital display will show a “chasing” pattern and the indicator light will become solid to indicate that it is cooking. 7 The rice cooker will countdown the nal minutes of cook time starting at 10 minutes.
27 Remove the steam vent. Thoroughly dry rice cooker body and all accessories. Wipe rice cooker body clean with a damp cloth.
