5 2 If using the full capacity of the slow cook er , add the ingredients to both halv es of the P ar titioned Cooking P ot. Using Y our Slow Cooker 1 Place the P artitioned Cooking Pot (3) into the Base Unit (4) . 3 If using half of the P artitioned Cooking Pot, fill one half with ingredients and the other half with hot (not boiling) water .
6 • When remo ving the Glass Lid (2) , tilt so that the o pening faces aw ay from y ou to av oid being burnt b y the released steam. • T he Glass Lid handle ( 1) , Base Unit ( 4) a nd P artitioned Cooking Pot (3) , as well as the outside of the Base Unit all become very w arm dur ing cooking.
7 • Pieces of food cut into small pieces will cook q uicker . A degree of ‘trial and er ror ’ will be r equir ed to fully optimise the potential of your slow cook er .
8 The recipes ha ve been designed and tested b y Morphy Richar ds for use in their slo w cookers. The recom- mended cooking times are giv en for the follo wing recipes; should y ou want to increase or decrease the time, please r efer to the cooking time guide below .
9 Standard Slow Cooking Recipes - Soup Method: 1 Melt the butter and fry the bacon and vegetables in a pan until soft. 2 T ransfer to the P ar titioned Cooking Pot, splitting e venly between the two partitions and add the stock. 3 Add remaining ingr edients ex cept the parsley , pasta shells and p armesan cheese.
1 0 Method: 1 Clean, wipe and dry the chick en, coat with the seasoned flour . 2 In a frying pan fry the chick en in the butter until sealed all over . 3 A dd onions and carrots and fry until soft. Add pepper , paprika, tomato puree, and the r emaining flour , stir well.
1 1 Method: 1 Gently fry the onion in the butter until softened but not bro wned. 2 Cube the turkey meat and add to the pan. 3 Add the remaining ingr edients, ex cept the milk and cornf lour , and bring to the boil. 4 T ransfer to the P ar titioned Cooking Pot splitting e venly between the two partitions.
1 2 Method: 1 G ently fry the onion in the oil until softened. 2 Add the beef and sear on all sides. 3 A dd all the remaining ingr edients except the parsley and bring to a simmer . 4 T ransfer to the P ar titioned Cooking Pot splitting e venly between the two partitions.
1 3 Method: 1 U sing a sharp knife, trim the beef and cut into 1 inch (2.5cm) cubes. 2 Cut the kidney into bite size pieces. Coat the beef with the flour . 3 P lace into a saucepan with onions, stock, wine and tomato puree. Bring to a simmer . 4 Add the w orcestershire sauce and season with salt and pepper .
1 4 Method: 1 In a pan, gently fry onion in the oil until soft. 2 Blend together the flour , paprika, salt and pepper . T oss the pork in the seasoned flour and add to the pan, fry until seared on all sides. 3 Add red pepper , oregano, pur ee and stock.
1 5 Method: 1 In a hot frying pan, quickly sear the sausages on all sides in the oil. 2 Add the onion, carrots and leeks and gently saute until softened, but not bro wned. 3 Stir in the flour and cook on a low heat until the oil is absorbed. 4 Slowly add the stock, and bring to the boil, stirring continuously until thickened.
1 6 Method: 1 Remov e any ex cess fat from the chops and then sear the c hops on both sides. 2 Saute the onions. 2 S prinkle over the mix ed herbs. 3 Add parsnip , carrots, potatoes, leeks and pour over the stoc k. Bring to a simmer . 4 T ransfer to the P ar titioned Cooking Pot splitting e venly between the two partitions.
1 7 Method: 1 Place the pears into the P artitioned Cooking Pot. 2 P our the wine into the P artitioned Cooking Pot make sur e that the pears are sitting upright. 3 A dd the remaining ingr edients, cover with the Glass Lid and cook on medium for appr oximately 5 hours.
1 8 Method: 1 Combine the oil and spices in a small bowl. 2 C oat the chick en with the mixture. 3 P lace the chick en into one side of the P ar titioned Cooking P ot.
1 9 Method: 1 Heat half the oil in a frying pan ov er a medium heat and add the o nions and carrot. 2 Cook for 5 minutes and then transf er to one side of the P ar titioned Cooking P ot. 3 Heat the remaining oil in the frying pan and cook the sausages f or about 1 0 minutes, until bro wned all ov er .
20 Method: 1 Seal joint on all sides then place in one side of the P artitioned C ooking P ot. 2 Season well with salt and pepper and add the stock. 3 Cov er with the Glass Lid and cook for 4 hours on high.
21 Method: 1 F ry onions, garlic and pepper in a pan until soft. 2 A dd minced beef and fry until lightly bro wned. 3 Blend together chilli pow der , f lour , brown sugar and tomato pur ee. 4 Stir in tomatoes, chilli mixture and season. 5 T ransfer all ingr edients to one side of the P ar titioned Cooking P ot.
22 Method: 1 Heat the oil in a pan. Saute the onion, carrots and garlic lightly . 2 A dd the curry powder . Cook gently for one minute. 3 Stir in the stock, lemon juice, salt, pepper and lentils.
23 Method: 1 B lend onion, garlic, ginger and chilli in processor or chop finely . 2 C ut each chick en thigh into 4 pieces. 3 Heat oil in a pan and fry chick en until evenly br owned. Lift out chick en and transfer to a plate. 4 Add butter to the pan and heat, add onion paste and cook o ver moderate heat until beginning to colour .
24 Method: 1 Season the lamb. Heat half the oil o ver a high heat in a frying pan a nd cook the lamb for about 1 0 minutes or until browned all o ver . T ransfer to the slo w cooker . 2 Heat the remaining oil o ver a medium heat in the pan and cook the spring onions for about 5 minutes, until softened.
25 Method: 1 G rease one side of the P ar titioned Cooking Pot with butter and line with greased f oil. 2 Make the base: s poon the syrup, sugar and marmalade onto the foil. 3 Cut the bananas in half lengthwa ys and in half again crosswa ys, toss in lemon juice and arrange, cut side down on top.
26 Method: 1 Grease one side of the P ar titioned Cooking Pot with butter . 2 C ream together butter and sugar in a bo wl until light and creamy . 3 Gradually mix in alternate spoonfuls of egg and f lour until all is mixed in. 4 Stir in the vanilla e xtract and milk until the mixture has a dropping consistency .
27 Method: 1 Crush the cardamom pods and put the seeds into the P artitioned C ooking P ot, along with the rest of the ingredients. 2 Stir well. 3 Cov er with the Glass Lid and cook for 3 hours on high.
