EN - 6 Keep in mind that the operator or user is responsible for accidents or hazards occurring to other people, their property and themselves. Always disconnect spark plug before assembly , maintenance or service. Unintentional engine start up can cau se death or serious injury .
EN - 7 Do not m ix oil with gasoline. Do not overfill. Allow about 1/2" of tank space for fuel exp ansion. Do not ov erfill! This equipment and/or its engine may include evaporative emissions con.
EN - 8 Turn off engine when installing or removing block-off plate. Do not ov erload the machine by attempting to chip or shred any m aterial beyond manufacturer ’s recommendation. Do not vacuum large amounts of sand or gravel. These items are heav y and may cause unit to become unstable and tip.
EN - 9 OPERA TOR ZONE This unit is des igned to be operated by one person located in t he operator zone . See Figure 3. Keep engine and fuel storage area free of debris, suc h as grass, leaves or exc essive grease.

EN - 12 CONTROLS AND FEA TURES See Figure 6 for all controls and features locations. Drive Control Bar / Handl ebar Adjustment Bar (Item 1) Model 995049: Hold the dr ive control bar against the handlebar to engage traction. Push down on handlebar adjustment bar to adjust handlebar height.
EN - 13 Handle bar Adjustm ent Bracke t (Item 11 ) T o adjust handlebar position, push down on handlebar adjustment bar (Item 1) , m ove handlebar to desired position and release bar . Make sure locking pin is fully seated in bracket hole. See Figure 9.
EN - 14 ENGINE OI L IMPORT ANT : Make sure engine is level when checking oil. T o check oil lev el: 1. Turn engine off and let cool for at least three minutes. 2. Remove cap from oil fill. 3. Check oil level on dipstick. Oi l level must be maintained at safe operat ing level.
EN - 15 4. Set the drive control tension at the point when the s pring first begins to lengthen by tightening or loosening the nuts on the drive control cable. See Figure 12 . NOTICE: For maximum belt life, use the minimum amount of tension needed for unit to operate properly .
EN - 16 12. Reinstall spring and block-off plate using hardware removed in S tep 4. 13. Attach springs to idler and r otate idler into position. 14. Re install belt cover using hardware removed in S tep 2. 15. Re install transmission cover using hardware from S tep .
EN - 17 SHORT TERM Clean unit thoroughly with m ild soap and low- pressure w ater . Never spray un it with high- pressure water . Do not use abrasives, solvents or harsh cleaners. Inspect unit for v isible signs of wear, breakage or damag e and repair as needed.
EN - 18 TROUBLESHOOTING Problem Probable Caus e Correction Engine will not st art . Fuel tank empty . Fill fuel t ank with fuel . See Fuel T ank on page 13 . Throttle is in STOP position. Move throt tle control lever to desired position. Use F AST to start a warm engine; use FULL CHOKE to start a cold engine.
