GB - 4 2. Check the saf ety inter lock system to mak e sure that it is functioning properly . Unit must not start unless direction control le v er is in neutral (N) and P ower T ak eoff (PT O) is disengaged (Off). Engine must stop if operator releases the handlebar with the direction control le v er or PT O engaged (On).

GB - 7 DO NO T touch unit par ts which might be hot from operation. Allow par ts to cool bef ore attempting to maintain, adjust or ser vice. NEVER place your hands or an y par t of your body or clothing inside or near any mo ving par t while unit is running.
GB - 8 K eep the nozzle in contact with the rim of the fuel tank or container opening at all times until fueling is complete. Do not use a nozzle lock-open de vice.
GB - 9 ASSEMBL Y Install Hubs and Wheels F or Semi-Pneumatic Wheels: install bushings and wheel/hub assemblies onto tr actor axles. F or all other wheels: install hubs to axles and secure wheels to hubs with hardware pro vided. Install Kick Stand Slide kick stand into the righthand side of the low er brac ket on the rear hitch.
GB - 10 2. Connect the f orward end to the piv ot plate on the unit with a .375 x .75 cle vis pin, two .406 x .812 x .065 fl at washers and a .09 x .75 cotter pin. Inser t cle vis pin with cotter pin to the outside of adjustment brac ket (Figure 8). Right Hand Rod: 1.
GB - 11 CONTROLS AND FEATURES NO TE: Read the attachment(s) and unit manuals bef ore operating the equipment. Operate the unit only from the operator ’ s position, behind the handlebars. Ser vice the unit and attachment bef ore operating. Ref er to Controls and F eatures f or the f ollo wing.
GB - 12 Throttle Le ver The throttle le v er is used to control the engine speed. T o increase the engine speed, mov e the le v er up to the “ F AST ” position. T o decrease the engine speed, mov e the le v er down to the “ SLO W ” position. Choke Control The choke control is used to chok e a cold engine f or star ting.
GB - 13 3. Ensure the PT O control is in the “ OFF ” position and the gear shift le v er is in the “ NEUTRAL ” position. 4. If the engine is cold, apply the choke . See Engine Manual f or detailed instructions. 5. Set the throttle to the proper position.
GB - 14 TIPS FOR OPERATION Use slow gears when oper ating the tractor on rough ground, slopes, small areas , near b uildings or other obstacles. Use a slow gear and a f ast engine speed when oper ating a snowb low er , rotar y cultivator , or a mower in hea vy grass .
GB - 15 3. Clean the dipstick tube and the dipstic k (Figure 11). 4. Remov e the dipstic k, wipe it with a clean cloth or tow el and put it back in the tube . 5. Pull the dipstick out again and look at the oil. 6. If the oil le v el is below the lo w mark on the dipstick, add oil.
GB - 16 4. Place batter y on bench or other well-v entilated area. 5. Connect positiv e (+) lead of charger to positive (+) terminal, and negative ( – ) lead to negativ e ( – ) terminal. 6. Charge batter y according to charger and batter y manuf acturers ’ instr uctions.
GB - 17 T o adjust the rev erse clutch (Figure 13) : 1. Loosen the two nuts on the end of the fwd-re v control e xtension rod. 2. T ur n the adjusting nut so that the direction control le v er stops 15 degrees past v er tical to the rear . 3. Hold the adjusting nut and tighten the jam nut against it.
GB - 18 IMPORT ANT : Tighten and loosen the bolts in a cross sequence as shown in Figure 16. 4. Tighten all PT O brak e bolts until the springs are solid. Back all bolts up 1/2 turn (Figure 17). NO TE: Mak e sure the trunnion bloc k is on the shipper shaft and held in place by the dog.
GB - 19 IMPORT ANT : Tighten and loosen the bolts in a cross sequence as shown in Figure 16. 11. T ur n all of the jam nuts counterclockwise to loosen. 12. T orque bolts to 70 lbf-in in two stages. First tighten bolts to 20 lbf-in in patter n shown (Figure 16).
