NO TE: When you connect a computer to this monitor , use an RGB cable including the ferrite cores on both ends of the cable. If you do not do this, this display will not conform to mandatory FCC standards. Attaching the ferrite cores: Attach the ferrite cores on both ends of the po wer cable (supplied).
The normal use of a TV should include a mixtur e of TV picture types. The most frequentl y used picture types should fill the screen with constantly mo ving images rather than stationary images or patterns.

10 Basic Operations POWER ON: 1. Plug the po wer cord into an activ e AC po wer outlet. 2. Press the Power b utton located underneath the right side of the front panel. The displays PO WER/ST ANDBY indicator turns green and the plasma display is on. OFF: Press the Pow er button (underneath the front panel) to turn of f the display .
11 SLEEP/OFF TIMER T o set the off timer: The off timer can be set to tur n the power of f after 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes. 1. Press the SLEEP button to start the timer at 30 minutes. 2. Press the SLEEP button to the desired time . 3. The timer starts when the menu turns of f.
12 EXP AND screen size The picture is expanded in the horizontal and v ertical direction, maintaining the original proportions. * Use this for theater size (wide) movies, etc. ZOOM screen size The squeezed film ima ge is expanded to fill the entir e screen at a ratio of 2.
13 Information Supported resolution See page 34 for details on the display output of the various VESA signal standards supported by the display . When 852 (848) dot 480 line wide V GA* signals with a vertical frequency of 60 Hz and horizontal frequency of 31.

17 Picture Settings Menu Storing picture settings This function allows you to store in memory the current input signal and PICTURE menu settings and to recall these settings when necessary . There are six picture memory locations av ailable, and notes of up to 15 characters can be added to each.
18 Reducing noise in the picture Use these settings if the picture has noise due to poor reception or when playing video tapes which hav e poor picture quality . Example: Setting “NR-3” Press MENU/ENTER button to access MAIN MENU. Use the ▲ ▼ b uttons to select the PICTURE menu and then press the MENU/ENTER button.
19 Setting the color temperature Use this procedure to set color tone produced by the plasma display . Example: Setting “HIGH” Press MENU/ENTER button to access MAIN MENU. Use the ▲ ▼ b uttons to select the PICTURE menu and then press the MENU/ENTER button.
20 ColorView™ Use this procedure to adjust hue and color density for red, green, blue, yello w , magenta and cyan. Y ou can accentuate the green color of trees, the blue of the sky , etc. Example: Using COLOR VIEW Press MENU/ENTER button to access MAIN MENU.
21 Audio Settings Menu Adjusting the treble, bass and left/right balance and audio input select The treble, bass and left/right balance can be adjusted to suit your tastes. Example: Adjusting the bass Press MENU/ENTER button to access MAIN MENU. Use the ▲ ▼ buttons to select the A UDIO menu and then press the MENU/ENTER button.
22 SET UP Settings Menu Setting the language for the men us The menu display can be set to one of eight languages. Example: Setting the men u display to “DEUTSCH” Press MENU/ENTER button to access the MAIN MENU. Use the ▲ ▼ b uttons to select the SET UP menu and then press the MENU/ENTER button.
23 RGB SELECT modes One of these 7 modes must be selected in order to display the follo wing signals correctly . A UT O: Select the suitable mode for the specif ications of input signals as listed in the table Computer input signals supported by this system on page 7 of Model Information.
24 Setting the screen size for S1/S2 video input If the S-video signal contains screen size information, the image will be automatically adjusted to f it the screen when this S1/S2 is set to AUT O. This feature is av ailable only when an S-video signal is input via the INPUT3 terminal.
25 Resetting to the default values Use these operations to restore all the settings (PICTURE, A UDIO, IMAGE ADJUST , SET UP , etc) to the factory default v alues. Refer to pages 15 & 16 for items to be r eset. Press MENU/ENTER button to access the MAIN MENU.
26 Function Settings Menu Setting the power mana gement for computer images This energy-sa ving (po wer management) function automatically reduces the displays po wer consumption if no operation is performed for a certain amount of time. Example: T ur ning the pow er management function on Press MENU/ENTER button to access the MAIN MENU.
27 PEAK BRIGHT Use this to activ ate the brightness limiter . Example: Setting “PEAK BRIGHT” to “75%” Follo w the instructions gi ven in the “Reducing b urn-in of the screen” section. Bring up the LONGLIFE menu. Use the ▲ ▼ buttons to select PEAK BRIGHT setting.
28 ORBITER MENU Use this to set menu shift. Example: Setting “ORBITER MENU” to “OFF” Follo w the instructions gi ven in the “Reducing Bur n-in of the screen” section. Bring up the LONGLIFE menu. Use the ▲ ▼ buttons to select ORBITER MENU setting.
29 Application These specifications co ver the communications control of the plasma monitor by external equipment. Use a crossed (re verse) cable. T ype of connector: D-Sub 9-pin male 1 5 9 6 2 34 7 8.
30 Remedy • Def ault seting for ORBITER is ON (A UTO1). In this mode, picture mo ves intermittently around the screen. See page 27 to turn off ORBITER. • If there are no abnormalities in the image and sound, the noise is caused by the cabinet reacting to changes in humidity .
31 *1 Overheat protector If the display becomes too hot, the overheat protector will be acti vated and the display will be turned of f. If this happens, t urn of f the power to the display and unplug the power cord.

34 Screen mode When the screen mode is NARR O W , each signal is conv erted to a 1024 dots � 768 lines signal.
