GB - 10 Nev er direct discharge tow ards persons or proper ty that may be injured or damaged b y thrown objects. Use extreme caution on g rav el surfaces . Stay aler t for hidden hazards or traf fi c. Adjust Runners so Scraper Blade does not contact gra vel.
GB - 11 Spark Arrester This product is equipped with an internal combustion type engine . DO NO T use unit on or near any unimprov ed, f orest-cov ered or brush covered land unless e xhaust system is equipped with a spark arrester meeting applicable local, state or f ederal la ws.
GB - 12 T ools Required: • Pliers • Open-End Wrenches: 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16" and/or Adjustable Wrench • Tire Gauge ASSEMBL Y Handlebar and Shift Rod 1. Remo ve lo wer wing knobs on handlebar assembly (Figure 4). 2. Remo ve upper wing nut and bolt on shift rod.
GB - 13 Check Function of Dual Handle Interlock (932101, 309) Without the engine running, press down (engage) both clutch lev ers. Release attachment clutch lev er . Attachment clutch should remain engaged until traction clutch lev er is released, then both clutches must disengage.
GB - 14 Run in Attachment Belt 1. Start unit in a well-ventilated area according to Star ting and Shut-Off in Operation . 2. Engage attachment clutch le v er and run attachment for about 15 min utes. 3. Stop unit, w ait for all mo ving par ts to stop, and remov e spark plug wire.
GB - 15 Choke Control Knob 1. Choke Closed position: chokes off air to engine f or easier star t. 2. Choke Open position: allows f or normal operation. IMPORT ANT : Gradually open choke after engine star ts. Throttle The throttle controls the engine speed.
GB - 16 PRE-START 1. Frozen Impeller IMPORT ANT : Bef ore star ting engine, check impeller to be sure it is not frozen. T o check impeller : 1. With k ey in “ Stop ” position, squeeze Attachment Clutch Lev er to Engaged position. 2. Pull Recoil Starter Handle.
GB - 17 Electric Start (120V or 240V) (932035, 101, optional on 309, 503) 1. Connect e xtension cord to prongs on star ter . IMPORT ANT : Pre vent damage to unit. Know voltage of y our star ter and only use matching outlets. 2. Plug e xtension into: 240V 3-wire, grounded outlet.
GB - 18 Ariens Dealers will provide any service or adjustments which may be required to k eep your unit operating at peak ef fi ciency . Should engine service be required, contact an Ar iens dealer or an authorized engine manuf acturer's service center.
GB - 19 CLEAN ENGINE Refer to Engine Man ual for detailed instructions. CHECK ENGINE OIL The engine crankcase oil should be check ed ev ery 5 hours of operation. Oil le vel MUST be maintained in safe oper ating range on dipstick at all times or engine damage will result (See Engine Manual).
GB - 20 DISCHARGE CHUTE DEFLECTOR De fl ector must sta y in selected position while throwing snow . T o adjust, loosen then retighten hardware to desired de fl ector drag f orce (Figure 9). DISCHARGE CHUTE If chute does not stay in position while operating, tighten nut on carriage bolt at pivot point to increase tension on spring (Figure 10).
GB - 21 RUNNERS Runners should be adjusted (Figure 11) as conditions require. 1. P osition unit on a hard, fl at, smooth lev el surface . 2. Adjust runners by inserting a spacer of desired thickness under center of scraper blade , loosen runner hardware, slide runners to fl at surface.
GB - 22 SPEED SELECTOR ADJUSTMENT T o adjust (Figure 13): 1. Remo ve hair pin from adjustment piv ot pin. 2. Pull shift rod and adjustment piv ot pin out of speed selector lev er . 3. Place the speed selector in the f astest rev erse speed position. 4.
GB - 23 Replace Attachment Drive Belt 1. Place ne w belt onto lower pulle y and while holding brake out of w ay , tip unit together . 2. Secure b lower housing to fr ame with cap screws . 3. Place belt onto engine shea ve . 4. Mak e sure engine sheav e and attachment pulley align.
GB - 24 T RACTION DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT NO TE: Housing and frame must be tipped apar t and attachment drive belt remov ed from engine sheav e in order to change traction drive belt (Figures 14 & 15). 1. Remo ve attachment drive belt (See Remov e Attachment Drive Belt ).
GB - 25 8. Chec k belt fi nger clearance. With clutch lev er engaged, belt fi ngers should be 1/16 – 1/8 in (1.6-3 mm) from belt. Adjust belt fi ngers as necessar y . 9. Replace belt co ver . 10. Chec k that auger/impeller stops within 3 seconds after attachment clutch/ impeller brake bail is released.
GB - 26 FRICTION DISC REPLACEMENT (932035, 503) Remove Friction Disc (Figure 19): 1. Shut off engine , remov e key , disconnect spark plug wire and allow unit to cool completely . 2. Tip the unit up onto front housing on a lev el surf ace. 3. Remo ve loc knut and bolts from wheel axles and remov e wheels.
GB - 27 FRICTION DISC REPLACEMENT (932101, 309) Remove Friction Disc (Figure 20): 1. Shut off engine , remov e key , disconnect spark plug wire and allow unit to cool completely . 2. Tip the unit up onto front housing on a lev el surf ace. 3. Remo ve loc k pins from wheel axles and remov e wheels.
GB - 28 9. Reinstall tires with clip pins . 10. Set unit upright. 11. Replace spark plug wire on spark plug. SHORT T ERM IMPORT ANT : NEVER spra y unit with high pressure water or store unit outdoors. Run with attachment clutch engaged a fe w minutes after each use to free unit of any loose or melting snow .
