GB - 9 ASSEMBLY SAF ETY RULES Read, understand, and follo w all safety practices in Owner/Operator Manual bef ore assembling. F ailure to follo w instructions could result in personal injury and/or damage to unit. AL WA YS remove k ey and/or wire from spark plug before assemb ly .
GB - 10 Rotating impeller can cause serious injur y . DO NO T unclog unit while engine is running. When leaving operator ’ s position for any reason, AL WA YS disengage auger, stop unit and engine, remov e ke y and allow mo ving par ts to stop . Before starting engine, disengage control(s).
GB - 11 MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE SAFETY RULES Before c leaning, removing clogs or making any inspections, repairs, etc.: disengage clutch(es), stop unit and engine, remove key , allow mo ving parts to stop. Allow hot parts to cool. Before tipping unit up onto housing, remo ve enough fuel so no spills will occur .
GB - 12 Discharge Chute (932102) 1. Grease discharge chute ring if not already greased (Figure 4b). 2. Remo ve mounting hardw are from top of engine. 3. Slide discharge chute o ver opening on housing and under the retaining clip . 4. Secure chute support brack et to studs on top of engine with mounting hardware just remov ed.
GB - 13 3. Ensure Z bend end of clutch cab le is connected to hole in tab on right side of clutch bail. Check A uger Gearcase Oil Check oil le vel in auger gearcase (see Maintenance Section). Fill Engine Crankcase IMPORT ANT : Engines are shipped without oil in crankcase.
GB - 14 Throttle The Throttle controls the engine speed. T o increase or decrease the engine speed, adjust to: 1.F ast (normal or warm star ts) 2.P ar t-Throttle 3.Slow (cold weather starts) 4."Stop" (engine is off) Recoil Starter Handle IMPORT ANT : DO NO T let handle snap back against star ter .
GB - 15 5. Insert key into ignition s witch and push into R UN position. DO NO T twist ke y after inser ting it. 6. Gr asp star ter handle and pull rope out slowly until it pulls harder . Let rope rewind slowly . 7. Pull rope with a r apid continuous full arm stroke .
GB - 16 Secure unit chassis to transport vehicle. NEVER secure from rods or linkages that could be damaged. DO NO T transpor t machine while engine is running. SERVICE P OSITION Place unit on a fl at lev el surf ace. Before tipping unit up onto housing, remov e enough fuel so no spills will occur .
GB - 17 T o ensure adequate lubr icant lev el: 1. Remo ve fi ller plug (Figure 5). Lubricant must be at least up to bottom of lubricant fi ller hole with unit resting on a lev el surface . 2. Add lubricant if required. Allow oil to drain to lev el of plug and replace plug.
GB - 18 ATTACHMENT DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT Remove old attac hment drive belt: 1. Shut off engine , remov e key , disconnect spark plug wire and allow unit to cool completely . 2. Remo ve belt co ver (Figure 4a, 4b). 3. If equipped with chute cr ank, remove spring clip from chute crank and remov e chute crank.
GB - 19 ATTACHMENT CLUTCH / BRAKE ADJUSTMENT 1. Remo ve belt co ver . 2. Chec k belt alignment (Figure 9). Engine sheav e and attachment pulley must align v er tically . Also, belt must be centered in the idler pulley . T o move pulley or shea ve: a. Loosen set screw .
GB - 20 DISCHARGE CHUTE If Chute does not stay in position while operating, tighten nut on carriage bolt at pivot point to increase tension on spring (Figure 10). If the de fl ector cap does not remain set in position tighten nut on right side of cap until proper drag is obtained.
GB - 21 A UGER EDG E REPLACEMENT Over time the rubber edges of the auger will wear . Contact y our Ariens Dealer for replacement. IMPORT ANT : Replace rubber edges before metal auger begins to wear . NO TE: After replacement of auger rubber edges, adjust scraper b lade.
