-1- ABOUT THE 5205 IP PHONE The Mitel Networks 5205 IP Phone is a digital telephon e that connects directly to a 10/100BaseT Ethernet network. It is supported by the Mit el Networks 3300 Integrated Communicatio ns Platform (ICP) Release 3.3 and later software.
-2- Telephone Status Indica tors Line Keys The bottom-right programmable feat ure key on your phone will be programmed by your Administrator as a LINE key (referred to as either an 'intercom' or 'Prime Line ' key).
-3- Tips for Your Comfort and Safety Don't cradle the handset! Prolon g ed use of the handset can lead to neck, shoulder, or back discomfort, especially if you cradle the hand set between your ear and shoulder. Protect your hearing Your phone has a control for adjusting the volume of the handset receiver.

-5- MAKING AND ANSWERING CALLS Making a Call To make a call using the handset: 1. Lift the handset. 2. Dial the number. Note: To use a line other th an the primary one assi g ned to the phone, press one of the Line ke ys befo re you dial the number. To make a call using a Speed Call key: z Lift the handset.
-6- Auto-Answer Auto-Answer lets you answ er calls without lifting the handset. When a call arrives, you hear a short ring, followed by the caller's voice. To enable or disable Auto-Answer: z Press the programmable key assigned to the Auto-Answer feature.
-7- CALL HANDLING Cancel The Cancel key is a fixed-function ke y that allows you to cancel the current operation and return to a dial tone. Pressing th is key is equivalent to replacing your handset and lifting it up again. Wh en this key is pressed during programming, you are returned to the previous programming step.
-8- Call Transfer To Transfer an active call: 1. Press TRANS/CONF. 2. Dial the number of the third party. 3. Do one of the following: To complete the Tr ansfer, hang up. To announce the Tr ansfer , wait for an answ e r, consul t, and hang up. To retrieve the call, pres s the switch hook and dial *1 .
-9- Swap Swap allows you to altern ate between two calls by pr essing a key. Each call is kept private as neither person can overhear your conversation with the other. To use the Swap feature to alternate between calls: 1. Make or answer a call, consult and then press the SWAP key to place that call on hold.
-10- Callback To leave a callback message at another extension: z While listening to ringing or busy tone, press the CALL ME BACK key. The called extension user is informed of the message waiting indication by their Message Indicator flashing and the display screen showing "MESSAGE WAITING".
-11- Call Forward Incoming internal and external calls presented at your extension can be forwarded in the following ways: z Call Forward All - forwards all your ca lls to another dest ination (extension or external number) withou t first presenting the call s at your exte nsion.
-12- To cancel individual Call Forward types: 1. Lift the handset. 2. Do one of the following: To cancel the redire ct of all calls, dial #8 . To cancel the redirect of calls when your te le phone is busy, dial **72 . To cancel the redirect of ca lls when you do n't answer, dial **74 .
-13- Call Forward - End Chaining To ensure that calls do not get fo rwarded again by the destination number: 1. Lift the handset. 2. Dial 64 . 3. Hang up. To again allow calls to be forwarded by the destination number: 1. Lift the handset. 2. Dial **73 .
-14- Call Park The Call Park feature allows you to place a ca ll in a special ho ld state . You, or someone else, can then retrieve the call from any extension in the system. After parki ng the call, the s y stem can automatically connect you to paging equipment so that you can announce the call to the requested party.
-15- Call Pickup To answer a call that is ringing at another extension in your Pickup Group: 1. Lift the handset. 2. Press the DIALED CALL PICKUP feature key or dial *6 . To answer a call that is ringing at a extension not in your Pickup Group: 1. Lift the handset.
-16- Directory The Directory feature provides you wi th access to the Mitel Networks 6500 Speech-Enabled Applications. This allo ws you to use vo ice commands to route calls to people or departments with in the 6500 SE Attendant system.
-17- Do Not Disturb To activate Do Not Disturb: 1. Lift the handset. 2. Press the DO NOT DISTURB feature key or dial *5 . 3. Hang up. To deactivate Do Not Disturb: 1. Lift the handset. 2. Press the DO NOT DISTURB feature key or dial **5 . 3. Hang up. To activate Do Not Disturb from a remote extension: 1.
-18- Direct Paging Direct Paging allows you to page a pa rty through their tele phone speaker. If the paged party has Off-Hook Voice An nounce enabled, the page will be heard even when the party is on a handset or headset call. To page a party: 1. Lift the handset.
-19- Hot Desking Hot Desking allows you to log into the telephone system from any phone designated as a Hot Desk phone. Simp ly log in at the phone using your assigned Hot Desk User Extension Number a.
-20- Tag Call Tag Call allows you to signal that you are the victim of a threatening or malicious call. Using the tag, your system administrator or telephone company can identify the so urce of the call and prov ide this info rmation to appropriate personnel or authorities.
