GB - 7 PACKAGE CONTENT S ASSEMBLY T ools Requir ed: •P l i e r s • Open- End Wrenches : 3/8, 7/16, 1 /2, 9/16 in. and/or A djustable Wrench • T ire G auge Unfold Handlebar (Figure 4 ) 1. Remove the lower and loose n the upper wing knobs on the hand lebar as sembly .
GB - 8 4. Remove the cover from the gear a ssembly on the disch arge ch ute. 5. Releas e the lock teeth on the gear as sembly with your f inger and r otate the disc harge chut e 90 ° lef t. 6. Remove and sa ve the hai rpin from the contr ol assem bly under neath the control panel.
GB - 9 10. Replac e the gear cover removed in step 4 . IMPORT ANT : Rotate th e discharge c hute to the left when tig htening the pedestal har dware to ensure clearanc e betwe en the disc har ge chute and the belt cover . 1 1. T ighten pe destal hardwar e to 15 – 31 lbf-ft (20 – 42 N•m) .

GB - 13 CONTROLS AND FEA TURES See F igure 10 for all Contr ols and Features locations. Dual Handle Interlock When A ttachment Clutch and then Traction Drive Clutch are engag ed, the Attach ment Clutc h will rem ain engaged (lever do wn) if r eleased.
GB - 14 Choke Control Kno b 1. Choke Cl osed positi on: chokes off air to engine for eas ier start. 2. Choke O pen positio n: allows for normal operati on. IMPORT ANT : Gra dually o pen ch oke after eng ine sta rts. Throttle The thro ttle co ntrols the e ngine sp eed.
GB - 15 Discharge Chute Control IMPORT ANT : If chute does no t stay in set po sition, adju st as di rected i n SER VICE AND ADJU ST MENT S on p age 22 , or repair befor e opera tion. Rotate the Chut e with Discha rge Chute Control. IMPORT ANT : DO NO T force frozen chute co ntrols.
GB - 16 Drif t Cutters (Fig ure 15) Drift cutters break up s now drifts that ar e taller than the auger h ousing and direct t he snow into the a uger . S tor e the dri ft cutters on the au ger hous ing when no t in use. Install them as shown below s o they are taller tha n the snow to be cleared.
GB - 17 T o add fuel to fuel t ank: 1. AL WA Y S place u nit in ope n or well -ventilate d area . 2. S top eng ine and al low to co ol. 3. Clean Fue l Cap and s urroundin g area to prevent dirt from entering Fue l T ank. 4. Remove Cap. IMPORT ANT : DO NO T use gas ohol or gas oline containing alcohol .
GB - 18 Manual St art 1. T urn discharge chute st raight ah ead. 2. Make su re that the tr action clut ch and attachme nt driv e clutch levers are f ully di sengag ed. 3. Push P rimer Bu lb 2 or 3 times for cold en gine. NOTE: When tempe rature is below -15° F (-26° C) additio nal pri ming may be needed.
GB - 19 IMPORT ANT : DO NO T overload unit capacity b y attempti ng to clear snow at too fast a rate. U se slow speed t o clear deep or h ard packed sn ow . Tip s for Op eration Snow is best removed as soon as pos sible after s now fall. T o cl ear an area , run unit in an o verlappin g serie s of paths.
GB - 20 CHECK DUAL HANDL E INTERLOCK Withou t the engine running, press down ( engage) bot h clutc h lever s. Rele ase attachme nt clutch leve r . Attachment c lutch should re main engaged until traction clutc h lever is releas ed, then bo th clutch es must diseng age.
GB - 21 CLEAN BATTERY 926023, 500, 501 IMPORT ANT : Ba ttery is m aintenanc e-free. Do n ot tamper with or attemp t to open ba ttery . See SERVI CE AND ADJUSTMENTS on page 22 for chargi ng proc edur es. T erminal s Keep ba ttery and its terminals clean.

Align correct c hute rod holes in chute co ntrol assem bly as s hown in F igure 25, and then se cure chute r od in pos ition with hair pin remo ve in step 1.
GB - 24 If chute does not rota te freely: T ighte n the cabl e by loose ning the up per adju stment nut, and t hen tig htening th e lower ad justment nut agains t the brack et (Figur e 28). SPEE D SELECTOR ADJUSTMENT T o adju st (Fig ure 29): 1. Place unit into service position .

Check Att achment Idler Arm Roller Clearance NOTE: It will be difficult to check the measu rement inside th e frame.
GB - 26 2. Adjus t attachmen t idler p osition. Se e Figur e 34. a. Loosen i dler adjus tment nut. b. T o incr ea se spri ng ext ension, move i dl er close r to belts and ti ghten adju stment nut. Return to S tep 1 . c. T o decrease spring e xtensio n, move id ler away fr om belts and t ighten adj ustment nu t.
GB - 27 2. Replac e the belt cov er . T RACTION DRIVE CLUTCH ADJ UST MENT If driv e slips, adju st tract ion clutc h to comp ensate for friction disc wea r . T o a djust tractio n clutch: 1. Place speed se lecto r in fastes t forward speed. 2. Place unit in ser vice po sition.
GB - 28 3. Remove hair pin und er the c ontrol panel connec ting the d ischarge chu te rod from the chute r otation lever an d slide the di scharge c hute rod forward. IMPORT ANT : Disc onnect c hute lock cable and deflec tor cable, i f equipped . 4. Remove belt finger (F igure 39) .
GB - 29 4. Install ne w traction dr ive belt on to attachment pulley and engi ne sheav es. 5. Pull the drive plate as se mbl y toward the fric tio n disc and ti ghten t he sto p bol t. NOTE: Make sure the driv e plate as sembly re turn spring r emains conne cted to the frame.
GB - 30 SHORT T E RM IMPORT ANT : NEVER spray u nit with high pre ssure water or s tore unit ou tdoors. Run with a ttachment cl utch engaged a few mi nutes after each use to fre e unit of any loose or melting snow . Close f uel shut-off val ve. Inspec t unit f or visible s igns of wear , br eakage or damage.
