4 RECEIVING INSPECTIO N Upon receipt of the Battery Pack , check the outer packaging for any external dam age that may have been caused by the carrier. After rem oving y our Minutem an XRT Battery Pack f rom its carton, inspect the unit again for any damage that m ay have occ urred in shipping.

6 CA UT IONS: It is recom mended that you turn the UPS off and disconnect it from the AC wall outlet prior to connecting or dis connecting the battery terminals. If battery packs MUST be changed while the UPS is supplying pow er to protected equipm ent, they can O NLY be c hanged w hile the AC line is supplying pow er .
7 INSTALLA T ION PLACEMENT: Select the location of the battery pack (s) with care and use the f ollowing precautions; 1. Avoid locations near heating devices. 2. Avoid locations near water or ex cessive hum idity . 3. Do not expose the Battery Pack to dir ect sunlight.
8 A suggested layout for stack ing multiple battery packs should be determ ined by the technician perf orming your installation. Each installation is unique to the j ob site and should be reviewed and planned PRIOR to m oving this heavy equipm ent. Measuring the equipm ent and the installation site m ay be requir ed.
9 4. Loosen but do not rem ove the retainer screws on the r ear panel of the UPS, then drop the retainer brac ket down. This r etaining bracket is not present on all m odels. 5. Plug the cable connector into the XRT UPS rem ote battery pac k connector, ins uring the connectors m ate Red to Red and Black to Black .
10 installed all of the way into the receptacle. Upon succ essful connection, verif y that the brack et will not allow removal of the connector. For m ultiple battery pack installation, each battery pack is "dais y chained" in a sim ilar fashion, with the cable from the last battery pack connec ted to the previous pack .
11 4. In order to locate the ter minal block on the battery pack y ou will need to rem ove the top cover of the battery pack. Note: O n some m odels, the term inal block m ay be acc essed from the rear panel of the battery pack. Warning: When th e cover is removed, danger of shock exists from the batteries.
12 7. Reinstall the cover plates on the back of the UPS if they were rem oved. 8. The unit is now ready for norm al startup procedur es as described in the UPS owner's m anual. Make sure all switches and breakers on all units installed are plac ed in the ON position.
13 Note: On all MINUT EMA N Plug and Play configurations, the red connector is battery positive and the black connector is battery negative. 5. After all c onnections have been made and ver i fied to be correct, reinstall the cover on the battery pack if it was rem oved.
14 If the Battery Pack requir es service: Before retur ning a defective unit to Minutem an, please follow the standard proc edures listed below. 1. Call y our dealer for assis tance.
15 4. Include a letter with y our name, address , day tim e phone number, RMA #, a copy of y our or iginal sales receipt, and a brief description of the trouble. 5. Mark the RMA # on the outside of all packages . The factor y cannot accept any package without the RMA # m arked on the outside.
