1. Before Using the Cont roller 2 NO TES • Be sur e to r ead the lates t information (Readme.txt) that contains im port ant informatio n. • T o use the Stor e to HDD, Scan to HDD, and Distribution functions, it is necessary that the optional HDD be mounted on the copier .

5 2. Conn ecti ng th e Cab le Make the cable connection between the PC and the contro ller by using the appropriate cable fo r the specif ic connection scheme used. If the copi er is to be used in st and-alone en vironment, us e the IEEE1284 (Centronics) or USB cable.

S ettings Requ ired f or Loca l Co nnecti on T o make a local connection between the PC and printer controller , make the settings by fo llow ing the proced ures gi ven belo w . 3.1 Installing the Printer Driver F or W indows 98, 98SE and Me: The follo wing procedure applies to the installation of the printer driv er for W indo ws 98.

Note that d iffer ent names are used f or the W indows NT us ers and dif ferent cont ents of di splays are g iv en fo r the W indows XP u sers.

Settings Required for Local Connection 15 Installation thr ough Plug and Pl ay If the local connection (IEEE12 84 or USB) is made between the PC and the cop ier , the printer dri ver can be installed th rough the “Plug and Play” f unction. For details of ho w to install the print er dr iver , see “3.

The installation of the prin ter driver through Plug and Play is au tomatically started on the PC. 3. Install the printer d riv er according as instructed b y the “ Add New Hardw are W izard.

How to Dis play the Printer Driver Pr operty Sheet There are two a pproaches av ailable for use to display the p roperty sheet. (Each of fers dif ferent ranges of settings that can be incorporated.

6. Printing 49 6.4 Effecting N-up Printing N-up pr inting refers to the func tion that pri nts a docu ment consist ing of tw o or more pages on a sheet of paper . It comes in handy f or prin ting a lar ge v ol ume of data and reducing the number of printed page s.
6. Prin ting 50 6.5 Printing Pages with W atermarks Specific te xt is printed in the background. Setting Procedure 1. Select the “Setup” tab . 2. From the li st of “W atermark,” select the desired te xt to be put i n the backgro und as a watermark.
6. Printing 51 Editing the W atermark Clicking “Edit W atermark” will allow you to edit the font and position of the wate rm ar k. (1) Pre view Disp lays th e pr int i mage. (2) W atermark text Select the desired watermark from the list of existing watermarks.

(2) Stri ng T ype the ch aracter string to be printed as the watermark (consisting of up to 127 characters). (3) T ype Face Select the font of the w atermark from am ong the fonts ins talled in the PC.

Setting v alues: Horizontal, Diagonal, V ertical, User Setting • User Setting : When User Setting is selected fo r Fix ed Angle, you can set an arbitrary ang le.
6. Prin ting 54 6.6 Effecting Duplex/Booklet P rinting A document can be printed onto both si des of a sheet of paper or into a bookle t format (two f acing pages). This functio n can be used only when the copier is equipped with an Automatic Duplex Unit.
6. Printing 55 6.7 Effecting Staple The Staple function can be used only when the copier is equipp ed with the Finisher FN-8 or FN- 116. 1. Select the “Setup” tab . 2. Clicking “Detail of Output Setting” will open a dialog box for setting details .
6. Prin ting 56 6.8 Effecting Folding Folding is used in combination with Booklet to produce a booklet through center folding and cen ter stapling. It can be used only when the cop ier is equipped with the Finisher FN-8. Setting Procedure 1. Select the “Setup” tab .
6. Printing 57 6.9 Effecting Hole Punch The Hole Punch fun ction can be used only when the co pier is equipped with the Finisher FN-8 . Setting Procedure 1. Select the “Setup” tab . 2. Clicking “Detail of Output Setting” will open a dialog box for setting details .
6. Prin ting 58 6.10 Add ing a Cover or Interleaf A front co ver an d/or a back co ver can b e added to each of your copy sets. When printing on s heets of OHP transparencies, an interleaf can also be inserted between sheets of OHP trans parencies. Setting Procedure 1.
6. Printing 59 6.11 Prin t to Suit the Paper Size The image on the document created with an application can be enlar ged or reduced when printing accor ding to the paper size. Setting Procedure 1. Select the “Paper” tab . 2. Check that “Original Document Size” rep resents the size of the document created with the application.

If the URL notif ication party has been specif ied, the inform ation on the location, in which scanned data is stored, is transmitted by e-mail.

If the size of the file attached to e-mail is limited and if a file size ex ceeds this limit, the f ile may be di vided (in binary unit s) for transmi ssion.
