The flying sparks, hot workpiece, and hot equipment can cause fires and burns. Accidental contact of electrode to metal objects can cause sparks, explosion, overheating, or fire.

OM-481 Page 25 7-5. Adjusting Engine Speed Stop engine. Engine speeds have been factory set and should not require adjust- ment. After tuning engine, check engine speeds with a tachometer . See table for proper no load speeds. If necessary , adjust speeds as follows: 1 Speed Adjustment Screw 2 Locknut Loosen nut.

T o check tight- ness of belt, proceed as follows: Remove rear panel. 1 Fan Pulley 2 Alternator Pulley 3 Engine Belt Place straight edge along top of pul- leys.
OM-481 Page 27 7-9. Adjusting Overspeed Shutdown V alve Drawing # Stop engine, and let cool. The overspeed shutdown valve protects the engine from damage du e to high engine speed. If the en- gine stops, the valve may be closed. Shutdown speed is between 1950 an d 2100 rpm.
OM-481 Page 28 7-10. T roubleshooting A. Welding T rouble Remedy No weld output. Be sure Ampere Range switch is not set between positions. Disconnect equipment from generator power receptacles during start-up. Reset circuit breaker CB3 and/or CB4 (see Section 7-6).
OM-481 Page 29 B. Generator Power T rouble T rouble Remedy No output at 120 volt ac receptacles. Reset circuit breaker CB1 and/or CB2 (see Section 6-1). Check fuse F6, and replace if necessary (see Section 7-6). Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check brushes and slip rings.
