Quick St art Guide Compact 24 LET (9 20022 s/n 000101 & up) • Step 1: Assembl e Handlebar • Step 2: Install T rigger Cable Assembly • Step 3: Install Discharge Chute • Step 4: Install Disc.
Step On e: Assemble Handlebar 1. Remov e the lower and loosen the upper hardw are on the handlebar assembly . 2. Loosen the hardware on the shift rod. 3. Put the speed selector lev er in the sixth forward position. 4. Rotate the handlebar into operating posit ion.
Step T wo: Ins t all T rigger Cable Assembly NOTICE: T rigger cable assembly comes attached to the Sno -Thro unit. 1. Attach remote trigger cable assembly to upper handlebar assembly using one ¼” x 1- ½” ov al head machine screw and one ¼” locking w asher .
Step Thr ee : Ins t all Dischar ge Chut e 1. Grease underside of discharge chute ring (if not already greased). 2. Remov e mounting hardw are from auger housing 3. Install discharge chute ov er opening in the auger housing. Finger tighten the mounting hardw are remov ed abov e.
Step F our: Ins t all Discharg e Chut e Cr ank 1. Remov e gear cover from top of chute pedestal. 2. Slide Chute Crank through the ny lon bushing in the support bracket under control panel. NOTE: Be careful not to damage nylon bushing when attaching crank to the control panel.
Step Fiv e: In s t all R emote Deflect or Cable 1. Pull rubber seal cap away from snap fitting. 2. Install snap fitting int o cable bracket’ s mounting hole located under the dash. 3. Position rubber seal cap ov er the top of snap fitting. 4. Move deflector control lev er to rear most position.
6. Secure cable eye to control lever with sleev e bushing and hairpin. 7. Using the w ire hook attached to the deflector cable, hook cable to discharge chut e crank. 8. Install cable into clip on top of discharge chut e pedestal. 9. Make sure deflector cable loops abov e gear cover between cable clip and cable s upport bracket.
St ep Six: Check Function of Dual Handle Int erlock Without the engine running , press dow n (engage ) both clutch levers. Relea se attachment clutch lever . Attachment clutch shoul d remain engage d until traction clu tch lever is released , then both clutches must disenga ge.
St ep Sev en: Check T r ack T ension Check tracking of unit and tension the tracks as required (see T raction T ension Adju stment in Ow ners Manual)..
St ep Eigh t: Adjus t Skid Shoes IMPORT A NT : Skid shoes should be adjusted as conditions require. All ow 1/8 in. (3mm) between scraper blade and hard smooth s urfaces. Allow 7/8 in (22 mm) between scraper blade and unev en or gravel surfaces . (See Skid Shoes in Owners Manual).
Check oil le vel in auger gearcase (see Check Auger Gearcase in Ow ners Manual). St ep Nine: Check Aug er Gear case Oil.
IMPORT A NT : The engin e is shipped with 5W-30 oil in crankcase. Refer to engine manual for detailed instructions. St ep T en: Check Engine Cr ank case Oil.
Fill fuel tank. DO N OT OVERFILL! See FILLING FUEL T ANK in Ow ners Manual. St ep Elev en: Fill Engine Fuel T ank.
St ep T w elv e: St arting the Engine.
St arting Engine / Step A: Chok e T urn choke ON..
St arting Engine / Step B: R ock er S wit ch Push rocker switch to RUN position..
St arting Engine / Step C: Fuel Shut Off V alve T urn fuel petcock to ON position..
St arting Engine / Step D: K ey Install Safety K ey Switch. Insert ignition key into slot but DO NOT turn the key . B e sure ignit ion key snaps into place.
St arting Engine / Step E: Prime Prime sy stem: 3 primes maxi mum. DO NOT over prime system. Make sure to cover the v ent hole on primer bulb before the primer bulb is compressed. Hold the primer bulb in the compressed position for one full second each time you press it.
St arting Engine / Step F: (Manual St art) Grasp rope handle. Pull slowly until resistance is felt, then pull rope firmly and quickly to start engine and avoid kickback.
St arting Engine / Step F: (Electric St art) Use a 3-wire ex tension cord and plug cord into starter motor adaptor first. Then plug cord into wall receptacle. Use appropriately sized extension cord (10A WG or larger) to prevent damage to electric starter .
St arting Engine / Step G: (Electric St art) Press and hold starter button. Note : Do not hol d the electric starter button down for more than 5 seconds.
St arting Engine / Step H: W arm up Allow the engine to warm up for 1- 2 minutes, move the choke control to the CHOKE OFF position..
St ep Thirt een: Stopp ing the Engine Under normal condition s: 1. Push rocker sw itch to STOP position. 2. Pull safety key OUT . T o stop engine in an emergency , fli p the Rocker Sw itch to the ST OP position, OR Pull Safety Key from Engine.
