Operating instructions for condenser tumble dryer T 294 C T o av oid the risk of accidents or damage to the appliance it is essential to r ead these instructions bef ore it is inst alled and used for the f irst time .
Disposal of the packing material The tr ansport and protectiv e packing has been selected fr om materials which are en vironmentally friendl y for disposal and can normally be rec ycled. T o av oid the risk of accidents and damage to the tumble dryer , please read these instru ctions carefully befor e using it for the f irst time .
Technical safety ~ Befor e set ting up the tumble dr yer , chec k it for any e xternally visible damage. Do not install or use a damaged tumble dryer . ~ Befor e connecting the tumble dryer , ensure that the connection dat a on the data plat e (voltage and connect ed load) match the mains electricity supply .
Correct use ~ T o pre vent the risk of fir e, the follo wing te xtiles must not be dried in this tumble dryer: – items whic h have not been w ashed. – items , such as w orkwear , which ha ve not been thoroughl y cleaned and which ar e still soiled with grease, oil or other desposits (suc h as cosmetics , lotions etc).
~ The dryer must not be used without the fluf f filter s in place or if the fluf f filter s are damaged in an y w ay . ~ The f luff filt ers must be cleaned regularl y . ~ The dryer must not be used without the condenser unit in place. ~ The f luff filt ers must be thoroughl y dried af ter cleaning.

Brief instructions The headings number ed ( A , B , C ...) show the oper ating sequence and can be used as a brief guide to using y our dryer . A Sort the laundry T o ensure an e ven drying result separ ate out the w ashed lau ndry and sort it according to: .
D Select a programme ^ T urn the progr amme selector t o the requir ed progr amme. Low temperature ^ F or dr ying particularly sensitive f abrics (care s ymbol r ) e.
F Remove the laundry ^ P ress the Door but ton. ^ Open the door . ^ Remo ve the laundr y . Check that all it ems have been remo ved from the drum. If items are lef t in the dr yer , they could be damaged by o verdrying when the dryer is ne xt used. ^ Switc h the dr yer of f by pr essing the l-On/0-Off but ton.

Emptying the condensed water container The condensed w ater will be collect ed in the condensed w ater container unless the tumble dr yer has been f it ted with a dr ain hose (see installation). The condensed w ater cont ainer should be emptied after every drying cycle or as soon as the Empty out container indicator lamp comes on.
Cleaning the fluff filters The f luff which is cr eated by the drying process is collect ed by the fluf f filt ers in the door and the door opening. Clean the filt ers af ter each drying progr amme. Cleaning them whilst dry Tip: Y ou can also use a v acuum cleaner .
Cleaning them with water If there is a gr eat deal of compacted fluf f on any of the filter s , the y can be remo ved and cleaned under hot running wat er . ^ Open the door and pull the fluf f filter out of the door as described pre viously . The two filt ers in the door opening can also be remo ved if you need t o clean them with w ater .
Cleaning the tumble dryer Disconnect the tumble dryer from the mains electricity supply . Miele br anded cleaning and conditioning produ cts are av ailable to order fr om your Dealer , the Miele Spar e P ar ts Department or via the internet on www .miele-shop.
Cleaning the condenser unit Deter gent residue , hair and f ine fluff from the dryer can get thr ough the fluf f filt ers and block the condenser unit. Dust fr om the room in which the dryer is installed can also get int o the condenser unit and cause a blockage .
^ P ull the condenser u nit out of its housing by the handle . Checking the condenser unit ^ Hold the condenser unit up to the light as shown . ^ Check t o see if there is any fluf f inside it. The arr ows in the illustr ation above indicate wher e to look.
^ Then f lush the u nit through fr om the front. ^ Check the condenser unit again f or any visible f luff and if necessary flush it through ag ain u ntil it has all gone. ^ Remo ve any soiling still visible inside the housing unit by hand using a damp cloth.
With the help of the f ollowing not es minor faults in the performance of the appliance, some of which ma y result fr om incorrect oper ation, can be put right without contacting the Service Department.

Machine dr ying hardl y causes any fluff t o form and has been established b y resear ch institutes t o have no appreciable ef fect on the lifetime of f abric.

The most lik ely cause is a build-up of fluf f, hair or deter gent residue on the f luff filt ers . – Remo ve any fluf f, hair or residual det ergents .

Changing the lamp Disconnect the tumble dryer from the mains electricity supply . ^ Open the door . Y ou will find the int erior lamp cov er at the top of the drum aperture . ^ Insert a suitable tool, such as a wide bladed scre wdriver , under the side edge of the lamp cov er as illustrat ed.
In the ev ent of any faults whic h you cannot remedy y ourself , please cont act – your Miele dealer or – the Miele Service Department (see back co ver for contact det ails).

Levelling the tumble dryer The appliance must be perfectl y level t o ensure saf e and proper oper ation. ^ The scr ew feet can be adjust ed to compensate f or any unev enness in the floor .
External condensed water outlet General notes When drying is in progr ess , condensed w ater is pumped into the condensed w ater container thr ough the dr ain hose at the back of the dryer . The condensed w ater can also be dr ained off directl y if the tumble dryer is installed near a sink, dr ain outlet etc.
External drainage via a sink or gully ^ See "F ront vie w" illustration. , If you w ant to dr ain the w ater off into a sink y ou will need to secure the hose carefull y , e.g . b y t ying it to a tap t o make sur e it cannot slip during use.

Electrical connection U.K. All electrical work should be carried out by a suit ably qualif ied and competent person, in strict accordance with current national and local saf et y regulations (BS 7 671 in the UK). Ensure po wer is not supplied to the appliance until aft er installation work has been carried out.

Programmable functions for changing default settings The pr ogrammable functions are used to alt er the tumble dr yer´s electronics t o suit changing requir ements .
Altering the residual moisture level in the Cottons programmes The tumble dryer is designed t o dr y eff ectively using as lit tle energy as possible. Howeve r , if yo u r equire the laundry to be drier , it is possible t o reduce the def ault residual moistur e level in the Cot tons pr ogrammes .

Activating and deactivating the buzzer A buzzer sounds (at interv als for a maximum of 1 hr) to let y ou know the progr amme has finished. The tumble dryer is deliv ered with the buzzer activ ated but y ou can deactivat e it if wished. The buzz er will still sou nd if there is a f ault, ev en if it has been deactivat ed.
Extending the cooling down time The cooling do wn phase which tak es place befor e the end of a progr amme can be lengthened if requir ed. T his makes the g ar ments easier to handle . The dryer is deliv ered with the e xtended cooling down time option deactiv ated.
Anti-crease If laundr y is not remo ved as soon as the progr amme has finished, the drum will continue t o rotate at interv als for one hour t o pre vent creasing . The anti-cr ease fu nction – is activ ated when the tumble dryer is deliver ed. Y ou can deactiv ate it if wished.
Changing the standard drying level in the Minimum iron - Normal programme The drying lev el for this progr amme is set at a standar d lev el. Y ou hav e the option of changing this to an incr eased dr ying lev el.
