Installation ~ The dishwasher must be installed and connected in compliance with the installation instructions. ~ Installation and repair work should be performed by a Miele authorized service technician. Work by unqualified persons could be dangerous and may void the warranty.
Use ~ To reduce the risk of injury, do not allow children to play in, on or near the dishwasher. ~ Only use the dishwasher if all panels are properly in place. ~ Do not tamper with the controls. ~ Do not damage, sit or stand on the door or baskets of the dishwasher.
~ Advise the user of the AutoClose feature to avoid injuries by walking, bumping or knocking into the partially opened door. ~ Supervise children near the dishwasher to ensure fingers or other parts of the body are not caught when the AutoClose feature is in operation.

Display The following can be selected in the display : – the wash program – the options – the start time – the settings J menu – information During a running program the display shows : – .
Energy saving washing This dishwasher is exceptionally economical in the use of water and electricity. For best results follow these tips: ^ For lowest energy consumption you may connect the dishwasher to a cold water source. ^ For fastest possible wash times, with slightly higher energy consumption, connect the dishwasher to a hot water source.
To open the door The door will open automatically at the end of the program to aid in the drying process. This function can be deactivated (see "Settings - Drying Plus"). ^ Press the release catch inside the door grip. If the door is opened during operation, the dishwasher will stop running.
Welcome screen ^ Turn the dishwasher on s . The Welcome screen shows when the washer is turned on for the first time. Language setting The display changes automatically to the language setting. Sprache F °# eština m ° dansk ° deutsch B OK ° ^ Select the desired language and confirm with OK.
Time of day setting The display changes automatically to the time of day setting. Time of day + ° 12:00 - ° OK ° ^ Set the hours using the +/- controls and confirm with OK. Set the minutes and confirm. Display The display changes automatically to the screen for setting the time of day display.
Water softener Every dishwasher is tested before leaving the factory. Any water remaining in the machine is from the final factory test and does not indicate that the machine has been used. To achieve good cleaning results, the dishwasher needs soft water.
Filling the salt container , Inadvertently filling the salt container with dishwashing detergent will damage the water softener. , Only use water softener salt specially formulated for dishwashers. Other salts may contain insoluble additives which can impair the water softener.
Rinse aid Rinse aid helps to prevent spotting on dishes and glassware. The rinse aid is filled in the reservoir and the set amount will be automatically dosed. , Filling the rinse aid reservoir with detergent will damage the reservoir. Only pour rinse aid formulated for residential dishwashers into the reservoir.
Rinse aid refill message When the Insufficient rinse aid message first comes on, there will be enough rinse aid left fo r2-3 washes. ^ Refill rinse aid after the program has finished. If the "Tab" function is selected, the Insufficient rinse aid message will not come on.
, Do not wash items soiled with ash, sand, wax, grease or paint in the dishwasher. Ash and sand do not dissolve and will be distributed throughout the inside of the dishwasher. Wax, grease and paint will cause permanent discoloration and damage to the dishwasher.
Items not recommended for dishwashing – Cutlery with wooden handles – Wooden cutting boards – Glued items such as old knives with handles glued together around the shank of the blade – Handmad.
Split cutlery tray ^ Arrange the cutlery as shown in the cutlery tray. For easier unloading cutlery should be grouped in zones, one for knives, one for forks, one for spoons, etc. Place knives with the cutting edge and forks with the prongs between the holders.
Upper basket , Always use the dishwasher with the upper and lower basket inserted. (except during the Tall items program). ^ Load the upper basket with small, lightweight, or delicate items such as cups, saucers, glasses, dessert bowls and flat pans.
Adjustable cup racks ^ Raise the rack to make room for tall glasses. Lower it to double stack smaller pieces. The height of the cup rack can be adjusted in two levels. ^ Pull the cup rack upwards and let it engage at the desired height. Coffee bar (depending on model) Glasses can be leaned against the coffee bar to allow a firm stand.
Universal support bar The support bar will hold tall glasses and stem-ware securely. ^ Fold the bar down and lean the desired glasses against it. ^ If desired, a section of the cutlery tray can be removed to allow for even taller glasses.
Adjusting the upper basket The upper basket can be raised or lowered to accommodate tall items. The basket can also be angled to fit tall items in both, the upper and lower baskets. The angles should not be set to opposite extremes. This will block the middle spray arm.
Lower basket ^ For larger and heavier items such as plates, serving platters, saucepans, bowls, etc. Small plates and saucers can also be arranged in the lower basket. Foldable spikes The foldable spikes can be used for small plates and saucers. Two rows of spikes can be folded down, to create more room for larger dishware, e.
Removable spike insert The spike insert can be removed in order to make room for larger tableware or to use a different insert. Removing the insert a ^ To remove the insert, gently pull the handle upwards. Replacing the insert b ^ Slide the hitches of the insert under the struts of the lower basket.
Removing the insert a : ^ To remove the insert, gently pull the handle upwards. Inserting the insert b : ^ Place the insert into the lower basket. ^ Slide the hitches of the insert under the struts of the lower basket. ^ Push down on the handle to snap the insert into position.
Additional inserts for the upper and lower baskets may be purchased from your Miele dealer or Miele. Depending on the model some accessories come standard with the machine.
Detergent , Dishwasher detergents contain irritant and corrosive ingredients. Avoid inhaling or swallowing dishwasher detergent. Keep children away from detergent. Fill the detergent dispenser only when you are ready to start the dishwasher. , Only use detergents formulated for domestic dishwashers.
Adding detergent ^ To open, press the latch on the detergent dispenser. The flap will spring open. The flap is always open at the end of a program. ^ Add detergent to compartment II and close the flap. ^ If a Pre-rinse is desired, and available for your chosen program, add 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of detergent to compartment I.
Turning on ^ Make sure the spray arms can rotate freely. ^ Close the door. ^ Open the water supply, if closed. ^ Turn the dishwasher on by touching the s control. The main menu shows in the display. If the memory function is selected, the last selected program is displayed.

The detergent type can now be set. You can choose between normal powder, gel or Tabs. See "Settings J - Detergent". Selecting options Options can be added to the selected program. ^ Select the Options menu. The display shows the available options for the selected program.
Starting a program ^ Select Start. The program starts and Dishes can be added appears in the display. As long as this reference is shown, tableware can be added to the machine without impairing the cleaning result. Cancel a program only in the first few minutes.
At the end of a program At the end of a program the display shows Program finished or Drying plus with the door slightly open (if activated). , The steam being released at the end of the program may be hot. Use caution. Dishes tend to chip if removed still hot from the dishwasher.
Changing a program If the detergent flap is already open, do not change the program. If a program has already started and you wish to change it: Sensor Wash 12:00 Pre-rinse Time left 1:30 h Cancel ° ^ Select Cancel. ^ Confirm the message Cancel program? with OK.
Delay start The starting time of a program can be delayed between 15 minutes and 24 hours. The start can be delayed in 15-minute-increments. When using the "Delay Start" function make sure that the detergent compartment is dry before adding detergent, use a cloth if necessary.
Sensor Wash 12:00 Start at 12:00 Cancel ° The program name and start time are displayed. The program starts automatically at the selected time. Starting a program before the delay start has elapsed: A program can be started before the delay start time has elapsed.
The "Settings J " menu allows you to adjust standard settings Open the Settings J menu ^ Turn the dishwasher on s . The main menu shows in the display. If the memory function is selected, the last selected program is displayed. See "Settings J - Memory".
Language J The display contents can be shown in different languages. The displayed language can be changed by the submenu "Language J ". ^ Select the desired language and confirm with OK. The flag behind the word "Language J " serves as a guide when an unfamiliar language is selected.
Detergent To achieve best results the used detergent can be set on your dishwasher. The selections available are "Powder", "Gel" and "Tab". The program cycle sequence will be adjusted for the selected detergent. Depending on the program the program running time could increase.
Drying Plus The Drying plus function automatically opens the door slightly at the end of a program, in order to improve the drying process. This function can also be deactivated. ^ Select the desired setting and confirm with OK. Water hardness The water hardness level set can be viewed under the submenu "Water hardness".
Rinse aid For best results the rinse aid dosage can be adjusted. The dosage can be set between 0 and 6 ml. The dosage set by default to 3 ml of rinse aid per program. – Use a higher setting if spots appear on dry glassware. – Use a lower setting if streaking appears on dishes or glasses.
Reorganize program list The order of the programs in the program list can be reorganized. Frequently used programs can be saved to the first three positions. Select program for position 1 12:00 ° Normal B m ° Pots & Pans ° Cancel Continue ° ^ Select the program to be saved to the first program list position.
Save options Additional options can be selected for some programs, e.g. extended drying. See "Use - Selecting options". Save options allows you to save the selected options for future use of the program. This function is turned off by default.
Child Safety Lock The Child Safety Lock protects the dishwasher from misuse. If the dishwasher is turned on while the Child Safety Lock is activated, the display shows The appliance is locked. The lock must be deactivated before the dishwasher can be used.
Temperature The temperature can be displayed in "°C/Celsius" or "°F/Fahrenheit". The temperatures are shown in °C/Celsius by default. ^ Select the desired temperature unit and confirm with OK. Buzzer When the buzzer is activated, a tone sounds at the end of a program and if a fault occurs.
Button tone A tone will sound when a button is pressed. The volume can be set to 17 different levels. It is set to level 8 by default. ^ Select the desired setting and confirm with OK. Brightness The display brightness can be adjusted in 17 levels. The brightness is set to level 9 by default.
Dealer = Demo modes are only for showrooms. The dishwasher has three demo programs for showrooms. The programs "Demo mode" and "Endless demo mode" show the use and function range of the dishwasher. – Demo mode: The program is started by pressing any button.
Miele's RemoteVision Wi-Fi technology creates a 'virtual link' between your appliance and our monitoring center. If a fault occurs, Miele's client service center will be notified and contact you, or another trusted individual identified on your call roster, in order to gain access to your appliance to fix the problem.
With the aid of the following guide, minor problems can be fixed without a service call. , Repairs should only be carried out by a qualified and trained person in accordance with local and national safety regulations. Unauthorized repairs could cause personal injury or machine damage.

Open the water supply all the way. Fault water intake FXX Before fixing the fault: – Turn the dishwasher off by touching the s control.
Issue Possible fault Solution The program "Energy Saver" displays the fault: Water intake temp. too low The intake water does not have a minimum temperature of 115°F (45°C). See "Plumbing - Connection to the water supply". – Restart the program.
General problems with the dishwasher Issue Possible fault Solution The display turns off. The display has gone into "Standby" mode to save energy. Touch any control. The display turns on again. The display shows the following: Middle spray arm blocked or Lower spray arm blocked The middle or lower spray arm is blocked by dishware.
Issue Possible fault Solution Detergent is left in the dispenser at the end of a program. The dispenser was damp when detergent was added. Dry the dispenser before adding detergent. The detergent lid cannot be closed properly. Detergent residue is blocking the catch.
Sounds Issue Possible fault Solution There is a knocking noise in the wash cabinet. The spray arm is hitting an item in the basket. Interrupt the program, rearrange items blocking the spray arms. There is a rattling noise in the wash cabinet. Items are not secure in the wash cabinet.
Poor cleaning results Issue Possible fault Solution The dishes are not clean. The dishes were not loaded correctly. See "Loading the dishwasher". The program was not powerful enough. Select a more intensive program, see "Program Guide".
Issue Possible fault Solution Dishes are not dry, glasses and cutlery are spotted. The rinse aid setting may be too low, or the rinse aid reservoir is empty. Increase the dosage, refill the reservoir or switch the rinse aid product when refilling, see "Before using for the first time".
Issue Possible fault Solution Glasses are discolored and the film cannot be wiped off. Detergent deposits. Use a different detergent. Clouding or etching on glasses. Possible causes may be : excessive rinse aid, incorrect water hardness level set, type and amount of detergent,.

Repairs In the event of a fault which you cannot correct yourself please contact the Miele Service Department at the phone number on the back of this booklet. ^ Please quote the model type and number of your appliance. These can be found on the data plate along the right edge of the door.
To transport the dishwasher, e.g. when moving to a new home, note the following: – Empty the dishwasher. – Secure any loose parts, e.g. hoses, cables, cutlery baskets. – Transport the dishwasher in the upright position. If unavoidable it may be transported on its back.

Check and clean your dishwasher regularly. This will help avoid problems and faults. , Abrasive cleaning agents, all-purpose cleaners, thinner or ammonia based cleaners should not be used on the dishwasher. They will damage the surface. Wash cabinet Generally, the wash cabinet is self cleaning if the correct amount of detergent is used.
Triple filter system The triple filter system in the base of the wash cabinet prevents food from being redeposited on dishes. It also protects the circulation pump from damage caused by foreign objects (e.g. broken glass, bones, etc.). During normal use, the filter system is self-cleaning.
To clean the underside of the filter the flap must be opened. ^ Push the clips together a and open the flap b . ^ Rinse under running water. ^ Close the flap so that the clip engages. ^ Return the filter so it lies flat in the base of the wash cabinet.
Cleaning the spray arms Sometimes particles of food get stuck in the spray arm jets. The spray arms should be inspected and cleaned every 4 - 6 months. ^ Turn off the dishwasher before cleaning. Removing the spray arms ^ Remove the cutlery tray (if present).
Cleaning the water inlet filter A filter is incorporated into the intake hose attached to the dishwasher’s shut off valve. If your water is hard or the pipes contain sediment, this filter may clog and prevent enough water from entering the wash cabinet.
Cleaning the drain pump and non-return valve If the dishwasher is not completely drained at the end of a program, the drain pump or non-return valve may be blocked. ^ Turn off the dishwasher and pull the plug. ^ Remove the triple filter (see "Triple filter system").

Waterproof system All Miele dishwashers have a safety valve located on the incoming water line and a sealed underside with a water sensor. If a fault occurs, the water intake is stopped and the drain pump is activated.
Drainage – The machine comes equipped with a built-in non-return valve on the discharge side to prevent waste water from flowing back into the dishwasher. – The dishwasher is equipped with a 5 ft (1.5 m) flexible drain hose with an internal diameter of 7/8" (22 mm).
