GB - 7 Keep the nozzle in contact with the rim of the fuel tank or container opening at al l times until fueling is complete. Do not use a nozz le lock- open device. Check fuel supp ly before starting engine. DO NOT fill gasoline tank indoors, when engine is running, or while engine is h ot.

GB - 10 CONTROLS AND FEA TURES See Figure 6 for locations. Engine/Blade Control The engine/blade control must be held against the handlebar to start the engine and blade. Engine/blade control feature on mower stops engine and blade within 3 secon ds whenever operator releases handlebar .
GB - 1 1 Swivel W heel Models (91 1 134) T o change front wheel cutting height , insert height adjuster pin into t he holes that match the desired cutting height and fasten with key ring (Figure 8). T o change rear wheel cutting height, move cutting height levers one notch at a t ime to set the desired c utting height.
GB - 12 S peed Control (se lf-propelled models) S peed control rod changes the mower ’s forward travel speeds. High –Push rod all the way forward. Low –Pull rod all t he way rearward. S tart mowing slowly and use speed control rod to gradually increase speed to a safe, comfortable walking pace.
GB - 13 91 1 141 Fuel shutoff valve open. Fuel shutoff valve closed. FILLING THE FUEL T ANK T o add fuel to fuel tank: 1. Put unit in open or well -ventilated area. 2. St op engine and allow t o cool. 3. Clean fuel cap and surrounding area. 4. Remove cap.
GB - 14 EMERG ENC Y STOPP ING T o stop the m ower in an emergency: 1. Release the engine/blade control. 2. Release the wheel drive control ( self- propelled models). 3. Allow all m oving parts to stop before leaving operator ’s position. ST ARTING AND SHUT OFF See Figure 6 for all Controls and Features.
GB - 15 Ariens Dealers will provide any service, parts or adjustments which may be required to keep your unit operating at peak ef ficiency . Should engine require se rvice, contact an Ariens Dealer or an authorized engine manufacturer's service center .
GB - 16 T o inst all blade: 1. Replace blade, flat washer , lock washer and bolt on shaft. 2. T orque bolt to 37.5 - 50 lbf-ft (51-68 N•m) (bolt s hould fully compres s lock washer). 3. Connect spark plug wire. Sharpen the Mowe r Blades 1. Remove mower blade from unit.
GB - 17 CHECK DRIVE BEL T (self- propelled m odels) Check drive belt and replace if w orn or damaged. See DRIVE BEL T REPLACEME NT (self-propelled models) on page 19. CHECK F ASTENERS Check all fasteners for proper t ightness. Pay special attention to blade hardware and all guards, shields and safety devices.
GB - 18 SER VICE PO SITION Put unit into se rvice position for eas y access to underneath the deck. 1. Place unit on a flat, level surface. 2. Disconnect spark plug wire. 3. Remove fuel cap, place a piece of plastic bag over the opening and tighten cap securely .
GB - 19 DRIVE BEL T REPLACEMENT (self-pro pelled mode ls) T o remove drive belt : 1. Disconnect spark plug wire. 2. Set the right rear wheel to its lowest cutting height, and the left rear wheel to the third cutting height. This position provides clearance between friction disc and drive sheav e.
GB - 20 5. Tighten upper cable nut until bracket is secure between cable nuts. 6. Engage engine/blade control. Measure distance between middle of z -bend and cable bracket. Measuremen t should be as shown be low . 7. For Honda engine s : Disengage engine/blade control and make sure there is adequate freeplay in the cable.
GB - 21 T o decrease the gap between the friction disc and the aluminum drive plate: 1. Loosen the upper cable nut on the wheel drive control cable, and then tighten t he lower cable nut against the adjuster bracket. See Figure 18. 2. Chec k the adjustment and readjust as needed.
GB - 22 IMPORT ANT : NEVER spray unit with high- pressure wa ter or store unit outdoors. S tore mower in a coo l, dry , protected loc ation. Cleaning Clean unit thoroughly with mild soap and low pressure water . Brush off dirt and debris from all surfaces.
GB - 23 Wheel drive does not engage (Self - Propelled models) 1. W heel drive control n ot engaged. 2. Drive belt out of position. 3. Drive belt worn or damaged. 4. Rear wheels at different cutting heights. 5. Idler spring detached. 6. W heel drive control cable detached or broken.
