Setup 1- 3 SA FET Y INSTR UCTION S The following safety instructions apply to operators and service per sonnel. Read these instr uctions befor e preparing the gam e for play. Other saf ety instructions appear throughout this m anual. DEFINITIONS OF SA FETY TERMS DA NGER indicates an im minent hazard.
Setup 1- 4 CA UTION: USE CA RE WHEN SHIPP ING HA RD DISKS. The hard dis k drive m ust be pack ed in an anti-static bag. W hen shipping the drive f or repair or replacem ent, pac k it in an approved container ( P/N 08-8068). Do not stack or drop hard disk drives.

Setup 1- 6 GA ME SETUP WA RNING: The c abinet is top heavy . Use the two handles on the back of the cabinet when moving the gam e. 1. Rem ove all items from shipping containers and set aside. Casters , levelers, and m ounting hardware are pack ed with the pedestal section.
Setup 1- 7 INSTA LL THE DOOR LOCK A ND SECURITY BRACKE TS 7. Modify the lock plate at the top of the rear door. Rem ove the bolts and nuts from the lock plate. Rotate the plate so that the slot will be above the door. Reinstall the bolts and nuts and tighten firm ly .
Setup 1- 8 16. Return to the Diagnostics screen, then choose Switch and Lamp T ests. F ollow the on-screen instruct ions to verify that each of the c ontrols and lights is oper ational. If no errors are found, the controls should function well. 17. Return to the Diagnostics screen, then choose Stereo Sound Test s.

Operation 2- 2 GA ME OPERA TION DESIGN PHILOSOPHY This game uses an “Arcade Com puter” to control its functions. T he “Arcade Com puter” is a hybrid cross between the custom game c omputer c ircuits used in m ost gam es and the personal c omputers found in many offic es.
Operation 2- 3 OPERA TOR CONTROLS CA BINET CONTROLS ♦ The DIP Sw itches s et some s y stem variables. You can set other variables in the m enu system. ♦ The M onitor Remote Contr ol Board allows you to adjust the video dis play for optim um viewing.
Operation 2- 4 GA ME FEAT URES STA RTING UP Each tim e the game is first tur ned on or power is restored, it begins executing code out of the boot RO M. Thes e self - diagnos tic tests autom atically verify and report condition of the CPU and the gam e har dware.
Operation 2- 5 M ENU SYSTEM SYST EM O VERVIEW A series of on-scr een menus present gam e variables and diagnostics. T he Main Menu screen allows the operator to view inform ation, m ake c hanges, or verify equipment operation. Eac h Sub Menu sc reen displays one specific group of choices.
Operation 2- 6 OPERA TOR MENU M A IN OPERA TO R MENU SCREEN The O perator M enu is the top-level sc reen of the Menu System. It pres ents the general categories of operator selec table items . All subsequent scr eens show mor e detail than this one. This sc reen does not permit changes .
Operation 2- 7 GA ME A UDITS GA ME A UDITS M ENU SCREEN The Game A udits Menu provides the operator with options for var ious sum maries of the game s tatistics and audits. Detailed reports give statistics bas ed on play er selections and perform ance.
Operation 2- 8 GA M E STA TIST ICS GAME STATIST ICS SCREEN The Game Statist ics report displays general inform ation about coin counts and game usage. Us e the operator contr ol switches to select G ame Statistics f rom the Game A udits menu. Pr ess TEST to enter the Game Statist ics display .
Operation 2- 9 AUDITS TOTALS A UDITS TOTA LS SC RE E N The Audi ts Totals display additional information about player statistic s and ability . This inform ation assists the operator in understanding gam e usage and prof itability . Use the operator c ontrol switches to sele ct A udits T otals from the Game A udits menu.
Operation 2-10 A UDITS BY T RA CK TYPICAL AUDITS BY TRACK S CREEN The Audits by Track report gives operators more s pecific information about play er choices and ability . Use the operator c ontrol switches to selec t A udits by Track from the Game A udits menu.
Operation 2-11 AUDITS BY BOAT TYPICAL AUDITS BY BOAT S CREEN The Audits by Boat report gives operators more s pecific information about player choices and ability. Use the operator c ontrol s witches to selec t Audits by Boat from the Game A udits m enu.
Operation 2-12 DIA GNOSTICS DIA GNOSTICS SUB MENU SCREEN Thes e tests allow the operator to verif y the electrical and elec tronic condition of the game. This screen does not permit changes . To select these tests, use operator control switches to s elect the DIAGNOSTICS MENU and pr ess TEST to activate it.
Operation 2-13 SWITCH AND LA M P TEST SWITCH AND LA M P TEST SCREEN Use the operator c ontrol switches to selec t the Switch and L amp Test and pres s the TEST button. This screen r eports information but does not permit c hanges . Activate each switch and the indic ator on the scr een changes s tate.
Operation 2-14 HA RD DRIVE TES T HA RD DRIVE TEST SCREEN The Hard Drive Test v erifies the functioning of the Hard Dis k Drive Ass embly. Highlight the test by us ing the operator control sw itches to select the option; then press TEST to begin . This sc reen reports information but does not permit changes.
Operation 2-15 STEREO SOUND TEST STEREO SOUND TEST SCREE N The Stereo Sound Test verifies the oper ation of the stereo sound har dware and cabinet speaker s. Increase the mas ter volume level before beginning this test . Use the operator c ontrol switches to selec t this test and pres s TEST to activate it.
Operation 2-16 MO NITOR PA TT ERNS TEST MO NITOR PA TT ERNS S UB M ENU SCRE EN NOTE: This game uses a medium resolution monitor. The inc reased resolution means that more video information is display ed on the screen than with standard res olution monitors.

Select the test or adj ustm ent wi th the operator control switches and pres s TEST to activate it.
Operation 2-19 WA TCHDOG RESET WA TCHDOG RESET TEST CONFIRM A TION BOX The W atchdog Reset Test check s the func tion of the gam e ’ s watchdog circuit by causing a forced r eset. Use the operator c ontrol switches to selec t the Watchdog Reset Test , then pres s TEST to activate it.
Operation 2-20 A DJUSTMENTS MENU A DJUST MENT S M ENU SCREEN The A djustments M enu allows operators to set gam e and player variables. Use these scr eens to optimize gam e perform ance and earnings . The General Adjustments include pricing, gam e variables and cabinet type variables.
Operation 2-21 GENERA L ADJUSTMENTS M ENU GENERA L ADJUSTMENTS M ENU SCREEN The General A djustments Menu contains options to c ontrol the cost and type of play . It also sets the cabinet type game display and measurem ent system. Selec t a variable with the operator control switches .
Operation 2-22 GENERA L ADJUS TM ENTS MENU (continued) Unlock All Tracks enables or disables c ertain track s until play ers finish a cert ain number of races. T he hidden track s are revealed as “ bonus ” tracks . Set this option to OFF to hide the “ bonus ” trac ks.
