12 ABOUT DISCS PLA Y ABLE DISCS: The following discs can be played back on this DVD player: DISC TYPES: DVD Data on most DVDs is divided into sections called “titles” and then into subsections called “chapters”, each of which is given a title or chapter number .
Notes on Copyright: It is forbidden by law to copy , broadcast, show , broadcast on cable, play in public and rent copyrighted material without permission. DVD video discs are copy protected, and any recordings made from these discs will be distorted.
14 SETUP MENU The setup menu lets you customize the DVD player by allowing you to select various language preferences, set up a parental level, turn screen saver on and of f, adjust what type of television screen you have and more. Below , find the menu, and then find the corresponding page that describes the features of the selected menu option.
15 SETUP MENU (CONTINUED) NTSC: Select when using an NTSC TV . P AL: Select when using a P AL TV . IMPORT ANT : In the USA, the standard is NTSC. When the DVD player is turned on, it will be set to NTSC.
16 SETUP MENU (CONTINUED) Select the desired language (ENGLISH, GERMAN, SP ANISH, FRENCH) for the On-Screen display to display text. Note that the DVD must have the language included in order to display it.
17 SETUP MENU (CONTINUED) L T/RT : Select to hear the sound in theatrical downmix mode. STEREO: Select to hear the sound in Stereo downmix mode. 18 SETUP MENU (CONTINUED) At the SYSTEM SETUP MENU, use the Navigation ( ¹ , ) buttons ❶ to select RA TING. Press the ¨ button ❷ followed by the ( ¹ , ) buttons ❶ to select the desired rating.
19 BASIC OPERA TION (GENERAL) During playback of a disc, press the 3D button 1 once and the sound options will appear on the screen. Press the ¨ button 2 to select SRND, then press the ( ¹ , ) buttons 2 to select a surround mode (OFF , CONCER T , CHURCH, P ASSIVE, WIDE or LIVE).
20 BASIC OPERA TION (GENERAL) Press the MUTE button once to mute the sound, “MUTE” will appear on the TV screen. Press the MUTE button again to restore the sound; “DEMUTE” will appear on the TV screen for three seconds.
Press the OPEN/CLOSE button 1 to close the disc tray . “LOAD” will appear on the screen and in the display . After loading, t he menu screen of the DVD should appear . Use the Navigation ( Ã , ¨ , ¹ , ) buttons 2 to select the desired option and the ENTER button ❸ to select it.
22 DVD BASIC OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Press the Skip ( n ) button 1 to advance the DVD to the beginning of the next chapter . Press the Skip ( o ) button 2 to move the DVD to the beginning of the previous chapters.
23 DVD BASIC OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Press the SEARCH button 1 . Press the Navigation ( Ã , ¨ ) buttons ❷ to select the TITLE, then use the Number buttons 3 to select the desired title number . Press the ENTER 4 button and playback will start immediately .
24 DVD BASIC OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Press the AUDIO MENU button repeatedly to change the audio language. This feature is not available on all discs. 1 Press the SUBTITLE MENU button repeatedly to select a subtitle language, and to turn the subtitle menu on/off.
25 DVD BASIC OPERA TION (CONTINUED) PROGRAMMED PLA YBACK The DVD player in this unit has a 16 chapter programmable memory that allows you to program up to 16 chapters on any disc for playback in any desired order . Y ou may program 16 different chapters or you may also program certain chapters to play more than once.
26 MP3 BASIC OPERA TION Press the ST ANDBY ON/OFF button on the main unit/remote to turn on the unit; the ST ANDBY indicator will go out. 1 Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the disc tray , “OPEN” will appear on the screen and in the display . Insert an MP3 disc with the label side facing up on the disc tray .

28 MP3 BASIC OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Press the PROGRAM button, the Program menu will appear on the TV screen. 1 Select the first track to be played back using the Num ber buttons ❶ . Select the next program number using the Navigation ( Ã , ¨ , ¹ , ) buttons 2 and enter the next track number .
29 CD/VCD BASIC OPERA TION Press the ST ANDBY ON/OFF button on the main unit/remote to turn on the unit; the ST ANDBY indicator will go out and the Backlights will turn on. 1 Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the disc tray , “OPEN” will appear on the screen and in the display .

33 TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE Check the following before requesting service: SYMPTOM GENERAL No power . Power on, but unit not functioning properly . No picture. No sound. Playback picture rolls. The playback picture is poor . The Search feature is not working.
34 TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE (CONTINUED) SYMPTOM DVD The unit does not start playback. Some functions do not operate as stated. Selected language is not being shown in the subtitles, or spoken. Subtitles are not working properly . Angle cannot be changed.
Caring for Discs • Treat the disc carefully . Handle the disc only by its edges. Never allow your fingers to come in contact with the shiny , unprinted side of the disc. • Do not attach adhesive tape, stickers, etc. to the disc label. • Clean the disc periodically with a soft, lint-free, dry cloth.
