12 ABOUT COMP ACT DISCS PLA Y ABLE DISCS: The following discs can be played back on this DVD player: DISC TYPES: DVD Data on most DVDs is divided into sections called “titles” and then into subsections called “chapters”, each of which is given a title or chapter number .
13 SET -UP MENU The setup menu lets you to customize the DVD player by allowing you to select various language preferences, set up a parental level, turn captions and screen saver on and off, adjust what type of television screen you have and more.
14 SET -UP MENU (CONTINUED) NORMAL/PS: Pan Scan. Select when the unit is connected to a conventional TV . Video material formatted in the Pan Scan style is played back in that style (the left and right edges are cut off). NORMAL/LB: Letter Box. Select when the unit is connected to a normal TV .
15 SET -UP MENU (CONTINUED) When this option is set to ON, captions will appear on the screen for the hearing impaired. When this option is set to OFF , captions will NOT appear on the screen.
16 SET -UP MENU (CONTINUED) LINE OUT : The input signals are compressed linearly . RF REMOD: The input signals are remodulated. Set to this option if your TV does not have A V Input jacks.
17 SET -UP MENU (CONTINUED) Select the language the DISC MENU will be in (ENGLISH, CHINESE, FRENCH, SP ANISH, JAP ANESE). The DVD’s DISC MENU must be made in the selected language, otherwise the default language of the DVD will be shown.

19 BASIC OPERA TION (GENERAL) Press the 3D SOUND button repeatedly to achieve the highest quality sound. DO NOT USE this feature if connecting to more than 2 speakers. T urn off the TV surround sound and other surround sound effects when using this surround ef fect.
Press the OPEN/CLOSE button ❶ to close the disc tray . “CLOSE” will appear on the screen and the display . The menu screen of the DVD should appear . Use the Navigation ( ➛ , ❿ , , ❷ ) buttons ❷ to select the desired option and ENTER button ❸ to select it.
21 DVD BASIC OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Press the KEY LOCK button; “KEY LOCK ON” will appear briefly on the TV display , and no buttons can be pressed on the main unit, except for the POWER button. T o turn the Key Lock feature off, press the KEY LOCK button again; “KEY LOCK OFF” will appear briefly on the TV screen.
22 DVD BASIC OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Press the SEARCH button ❶ once. Press the Navigation ( ➛ , ❿ ) buttons ❷ to select the TITLE, then use the Number buttons ❸ to select the desired title number . Press the Navigation ( ➛ , ❿ ) buttons ❷ to select the CHAPTER, then use the Number buttons ❸ to select the desired chapter number .
23 DVD BASIC OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Press the AUDIO MENU button to change the audio language. This feature is not available on all discs. 1 Press the SUBTITLE MENU button to select a subtitle language, and to turn the subtitle menu on/off. This feature is not available on all discs.
24 MP3 BASIC OPERA TION Press the POWER button to turn on the unit. If turned on with the remote control, the ST ANDBY indicator will go out. 1 Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the disc tray , “OPEN” will appear on the screen and in the display .

30 TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE Check the following before requesting service. SYMPTOM GENERAL No Power . Power on, but unit not functioning properly . No picture. No sound. Playback picture rolls. The playback picture is poor . The Search feature is not working.

Caring for Compact Discs • Treat the disc carefully . Handle the disc only by its edges.
