5 This CD player requires either two (2) “AA” cell standard or rechargeable batteries (not included) or an AC adapter (not included). BATTERY INSTALLATION: The battery indicator ( ) will light in the display when batteries are low and need replacing.
6 RECHARGEABLE BA TTERIES 1. Insert the negative side of a rechargeable NI-CAD battery into the sleeve as shown. The sleeve must be inserted onto the negative side of the battery, otherwise it will not work. 2. Open the battery compartment door on the bottom of the unit by sliding it out and then lifting it.
7 CD OPERA TION With the power on, press the EQ but- ton to cycle through the preset EQ settings, or to turn the EQ off. Each press of the PRESET EQ button will cycle as follows: CLASSIC - POP - JAZZ - ROCK - NORMAL. NOTE: To operate this function, there must be a CD inside the CD compartment.
8 CD OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Press and hold the Play/Pause ( ) /Power On button ❶ to turn the unit on. Open the CD compartment lid by sliding the CD OPEN switch ❷ . Gently press a disc, label side up, onto the spindle until it locks in place. Close the CD compartment lid; the total tracks (and folders, if using MP3) will appear in the display.
9 CD PLAYBACK NOTES: • See page 18 for more information on MP3’s. • When recording (“burning”) CDs, make sure the session is “finalized”, or simply record (“burn”) only one session. You can find more information in your recorder’s manual.
10 CD OPERA TION (CONTINUED) While in the Stop mode, press the Skip/Search ( ) ❶ or ( ) ❷ button to select a specific track for playback. 2 1 1 TO BEGIN PLA YBACK FROM A SPECIFIC TRACK When the desired track number appears in the display, press the Play/Pause ( )/Power On button; Playback will begin with the track (or file) you selected.
11 CD OPERA TION (CONTINUED) During playback, press and release the Skip/Search ( ) button once to advance the player to the beginning of the next track. Press the Skip/Search () button repeatedly to advance the player to higher number tracks. See note on the bottom of page 10 if playing an MP3.
12 CD OPERA TION (CONTINUED) To repeat a single track, press the MODE button ❶ once while playing a CD; the Repeat 1 indicator will appear in the display. Press the Skip/Search () ❷ or ( ) ❸ button to select the specific track that you wish to repeat.
13 CD OPERA TION (CONTINUED) To repeat all files in a directory (MP3 CD only), press the MODE button ❶ three times while playing a CD; the Repeat DIR. indicator will appear in the display. Press the Skip/Search () ❷ or ( ) ❸ button to select the specific directory that you wish to repeat.
14 CD OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Press the MODE button four times (five times if an MP3 CD with multiple directories is inserted) while playing a CD; “RAND” will appear in the display. 1 TO RANDOML Y PLA Y BACK A CD The unit will play the tracks in random order.
15 CD OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Press the MODE button seven times while playing a CD; “RAND DIR” will appear in the display. 1 TO RANDOML Y PLA Y BACK A DIRECT OR Y REPEA TEDL Y (MP3 ONL Y) The unit will play all the tracks of the selected directory in random order repeatedly.
16 CD OPERA TION (CONTINUED) While in the Stop mode, press the MODE button. “000: (track number) will blink and “P-001” (program number) will appear in the display. 1 TO PROGRAM THE MEMORY (UP TO 32 TRACKS) Programming is the ability to preselect the order in which a series of tracks will be played.
NOTES ON PROGRAM PLAYBACK • You can review the program by pressing the MODE button repeatedly while in the Stop mode. • To add a track to the program memory, simply press the MODE button repeatedly until the desired program number is shown, then enter the next track.
