1 Thank you for purchasing the Memorex audio system. The serial number of your unit can be found on a label on the bottom of the cabinet. We suggest that you record the serial number in the space provided below in case this information is ever needed at a future date.
2 Before using the unit, be sure to read all operating instructions carefully. Please note that these are general precautions and may not pertain to your unit. For example, this unit may not have the capability to be connected to an outdoor antenna. 1.
3 PREP ARA TION FOR USE Unpacking and Setup • Carefully remove the unit from the display carton and remove all packing material from the unit itself. • The detachable AC power cord is packed in the carton separately from the unit. Make sure that the AC power cord is not accidentally discarded with the carton or packing material.

5 OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS Press the TUNER Function button to turn the unit on and select the Tuner mode. 1 If you press and hold the TUNING/Skip/Search UP ❶ or TUNING/Skip/Search Down ❷ button for one second, then release, the unit will automatically scan to the next broadcasting station.
6 Press the TUNER Function button to turn the unit on and select the Tuner mode. 1 Select the desired preset number (up to 15) by repeatedly pressing the PLAY/PAUSE ( )/MEM-UP button. 4 Press the MEMORY button again to set the preset. Repeat steps 2 through 4 to set more presets.
7 PLA YING COMP ACT DISCS NORMAL PLAYBACK Press the CD Function button to turn the unit on and select the CD mode. 1 Press the PLAY/PAUSE ( )/ MEM-UP button to begin playback; the current track and elapsed playing time will appear in the display. 4 Press the POWER OFF/TAPE button to turn the CD off.
8 During CD playback, if you wish to pause the disc momentarily, press the PLAY/PAUSE ( )/ MEM-UP button. Playback stops but the disc continues to spin and the track number blinks in the display. 1 Press the PLAY/PAUSE ( )/ MEM-UP button again to release pause and resume normal CD playback.
9 To repeat a single track, press the REPEAT/FM MONO button ❶ once while in the Stop mode; “ ” will blink in the display. Press the TUNING/Skip/Search Up ❷ or Down ❸ button to select the specific track that you wish to repeat.
10 Press the TUNING/Skip/Search Up ❶ or Down ❷ button to select the first track that you wish to program. When the desired track number (Example: Track 5) appears in the display, press the MEMORY button ❸ again.
11 Press the STOP/EJECT ( ■ ) button to open the cassette compartment. 1 For an enhanced Bass sound, press the BASS BOOST button ❶ . Adjust the VOLUME control ❷ as desired. 2 1 4 Press the POWER OFF/TAPE button ❶ , then press the PLAY ( ¥ ) button ❷ to begin playback.
12 Open the Cassette Door and insert a good quality blank cassette tape into the slots on the door, with the open end facing up and the full reel on the right side. Close the Cassette Door. 1 When you are ready to begin recording, press the RECORD () b utton.
SAFEGUARD AGAINST ACCIDENT AL ERASURE When a new recording is made, any program material previously recorded is automatically erased and only the new recording remains. To safeguard valuable recordings from being erased accidentally, the cassette and the deck are equipped with a special device.
Caring for Compact Discs • Treat the compact disc carefully. Handle the compact disc only by its edges. Never allow your fi ngers to come in contact with the shiny, unprinted side of the compact disc. • Do not attach adhesive tape, stickers, etc.
